2013 JKU electrical issue???? Help!

Hey eveybody, having some issues, looking for your thoughts. Took delivery 9/7/12 and things are getting weird. AC when first turned on will start, then completely stop, give me about a 7 second pause and restart on its own. A couple days ago, front 2 windows would not roll down at all. Turned it off, re started evrything was fine. This morning I used the electric start, jumped in and the wipers wouldn't work, tried the headlights, nothing. Turned the key to the off position, pulled out the key and it was still running! Put the key back in turned it to the run position then back to off and the engine turned off. Started right back up again and I was on my way. I'm going to the dealer Monday, but this happens so randomly my concern is I'll get the nothing is wrong answer.

Any insight on this. Not a good feeling to have. Thanks. Any comments are appreciated.

Here's my comment: Good thing you have a warranty!

Yep, warranty work. Let dealership worry about it.

Just make sure you describe in excruciating detail exactly what happened and when (I would type it up and hand it to the service advisor) and be certain that your description of issues is reflected in whatever piece of paper they hand back to you. Documentation is key.

Sounds like a ground issue but could be internal to one of the brain boxes that control everything hooked into the CANBUS.

Good luck!

Sounds like an issue with the auto start connections to me assuming that's what you meant when you said electric start.

Maybe the dealer installed the auto start and messed something up.

Perhaps they put a '12 wiring harness in it by mistake?

Seriously, GL.

Somewhat Similar Issue

My wife and I just traded in a 2010 Ford Flex and a 2007 JEEP Liberty and drove off the lot yesterday with 2 2013 Wranglers, hers a Sahara and mine a Sport. It's the first time either of us have bought brand new instead of used or leased.
After driving about 170 Km home the Sahara was dead in a parking lot with only 202 Km on it! (pre-existing relationship with a dealership not close to home)
Engine would try to turn over some of the time and not catch, but most attempts it was just dead. Electric system and engine lights would come on. Chrysler Roadside tried to boost it with no effect and I had to leave it with them while they arranged for a flatbed tow truck to pick it up.
Later that night the flatbed driver told me the JEEP started without problem. I had him take it to a local dealership anyway.
I almost wish it had just stayed dead. I'm concerned they will tell us there's nothing wrong and I hope they will at least look into the error messages even if it starts for them.
My wife just traded her well running 2010 Ford Flex and became a JEEP enthusiast for all of 8 hours... I did not get to enjoy the perks a married man might see from buying his wife a brand new car ... I was stranded in town while she took my new JEEP to take care of business... and she has a business conference this weekend that would have seen her driving 500+ Km at least. Now it looks like I'll be a latch key kid for the weekend while she takes my shiny Sport and we wait for our 8hr old Sahara to be repaired, or I'll have to give her my JEEP and run hers to monitor it's behaviour so she doesn't get stuck in another parking lot somewhere on her weekend voyage!

did you try both keys? the battery in the key may have been dead/dying.

Unintentionally, we did wind up trying both keys with no difference.
I am happy to say that Unique Chrysler, the purchasing dealership, is all over this. Their service department has a great rating and they are having the vehicle moved to them (local dealership has a very poor rating) to make sure everything is properly taken care of. Still a crappy situation to be in with a brand new purchase, but we aren't being ignored and everyone is taking this seriously.

Okay, so the dealership determined it was a stupid user error. Somehow, both my wife and I tried to start her Sahara with the key for my Sport. I could recreate the error. What threw me, and I think is still an outstanding issue, is that the Sahara seems to not have a screen display under the spedometer (left side). I cannot get a door or gate ajar warning, DTE display, L/100km display and a few others that I can readily see in the Sport. I have to guess that these would be in the Sahara? They are practically the same vehicle with a few extra toys, bigger tires, and some body colour differences. Can anyone confirm that I should see these displays on the front instrument screens under the spedometer and tachometer in a Sahara?

Yes you should. Do you see radio stations?

We see radio stations displayed on the Nav screen in the center dash (GPS screen). The Sport has a more standard radio and no GPS system. So do these indicators appear on that screen instead? I was wondering about that but didn't find them in the brief time I was playing around with it.

Sounds like the Sport has the Connectivity package and the Sahara doesn't. With connectivity you get the full display that shows door ajar, has personal setting, can show radio info and Nav turn by turn, as well as fuel mileage and on the 2013's has a tire pressure readout as well. Connectivity will also get you a USB port in the console and Bluetooth as well, even without a Nav radio. Without connectivity you get the base display that shows only fuel mileage and distance to empty readings. You also won't have the USB port in the console or Bluetooth, unless you got the 730N Nav, then you will have Bluetooth because it's standard on it, but not the other stuff. My Sahara has connectivity, I ordered it that way because I wanted all the goodies.

Thanks Sahara JK - your question got me looking in the right places and at least I'm a little more informed now.
Thanks Jeff - my wife's Sahara does have the 730N and you're response helped me refine my searching a bit more.
I've figured out that what I'm trying to get to is the EVIC display on the Sahara. I just downloaded the manual instead of looking at the user guide that came with and it gave me more detail.
I think I know what where to find what I need. It either is not working, I tried playing with it while driving and needed to be in Park, or I missed finding it and have to wait for her to return from a long road trip to investigate further.
At any rate, I think I've researched as much as I can for now and will have to wait until Monday to get behind the Sahara's wheel to figure it out.

No problem. Just the clarify a but, the 730N includes Bluetooth but not the other stuff from the connectivity group. Mine has a 730N and connectivity group, which is why it has all the features. If you get 730N without connectivity, then you won't have the EVIC, steering wheel control for phone/EVIC, or the USB port in console.

Having the same A/C problem and problems with the blinkers too. Any resolution? We've had it in to the dealer 3-4 times. One time it seemed that it was fixed but we took it in for additional issues and now the A/C is messed up again. We've finally called corporate.
