2013 jku sahara w alpine upgrade

Alright so last week I went out to future shop and found some speakers that had a mounting depth of the same or less then the kickers in the kick package and the polks everyone is using.

Well today I thought I'd pop a soundbar speaker and see what I have to work with....

Well to my surprise the current speakers have a decent mag on them and the cones are made from a polymer substance... no tweeter though. And doesnt say alpine anywhere.

So I guess my question is, will I benefit from swapping them out for these mtx speakers I got? (Plan to add amp and new sub later). Will the quality be better?

Thoughts and opinions please.

Aftermarket speakers I got are mtx tdx65

Here are my opinions. Until you swap out all 6 speakers and the sub and put an amp in, you won't get that much better sound quality. If you are using the original setup, you are just replacing 2 ohm speakers using the same wiring to your 2-ohm original system. You need to get 4-ohm speakers, get an amp, and use a PAC. If replacing all 7 speakers, get a 4-chan amp and put your sub on it's own channel with a remote control knob for controlling the sub.

It isn't that the stock speakers are "bad"...it is that they are 2 ohms....and don't have tweeters....and you are at the mercy of the factory processing and crossovers.

I replaced my four 6.5's with Kicker 77Kick10's, and it was a marginal improvement. It is great to have tweeters again, but Kicker's are 4 ohm speakers, so I actually lost volume and punch. Plus, the soundbar seems to be crossed over at about 100hz, and has about half as much gain as the fronts....so you can't get the full benefit out of them with the factory set up.

I can't decide if I want to put these mtx speakers I bought in. Or if I am just going to wait until I upgrade everything (except headunit). Return these mtx and get really good stuff then..

I'm running MTX's in my soundbar and the improvement was more than worth it. Could it be better? Obviously. But for my needs, doing an entire upgrade just wouldn't be worth the effort or expense. With my upgraded sub and soundbar, it sounds really good and I'm happy with it.

Thank you. Gave me the push to upgrade before I had all the components. Ill do the 4 speaker upgrade now. New amp and sub later.
