That's where the optional Ejection Switch mounts. If the passenger does not like the line you take over obstacles, all he/she has to do is open the glove box, flip the switch, and you're gone. On soft top models, the Sunrider top automatically folds back before the driver's seat is launched. On the hardtop, one Freedom Panel is jettisoned by small explosive charges prior to launch. Jeeps with this feature are easily identified by the releasable clamps rather than bolts holding the driver's seat to the floor. All Wranglers equipped with this switch are required to have a warning label on the visor advising the driver to wear a helmet. The top-of-the-line model has a similar button mounted on the steering wheel that will eject the passenger's seat during periods of excessive nagging and/or whining. I keep my glovebox locked.
