2013 ordering advice ?

Hi everyone. I plan on waiting and buying a 2013 model. My primary use will be an every day driver,50-50 hwy, city, possible light trail use on the weekends now and then, 200-250 miles a week, keeping the doors off and top off all summer. I want to buy a 6 speed Sport 2 door. Anyone have advice on wheel-tire size and rear end gearing ? Based on the way I'll be driving every day, I want to max out the best mpg I can get. I'm gonna put some miles on this puppy. Thanks !

Duel top, 3" lift 33s, and 3.73 gears and save you money on the other up grades until you decide you need them. Better stereo head units are ~400, speakers 100 a pair...

But if you're going to be doing any climbing, get the rubi, you'll eventually be buying all that stuff any ways.

With a manual, you choose shift points, so gearing won't be that big a deal. I'd recommend 3.21s if your driving is mostly flatland and highway and mileage is really as important to you as you say. 3.73s if you drive in hill country, ever plan on towing, or going with tires up to 33".

Thanks for responding ! Yes this will be a daily driver with very light trail use, zero towing for sure. I have a suv for that. Gotta do a modest lift, maybe 3.5 and add 33's. I'm not buying it to be a Prius but I have to be realistic so mpg is somewhat important. Been wanting a jeep for years , now its time to go for it !!

I get 16-17 most of the time. 75 on the interstate I've seen both ends. My last trek to VA got me a little over 14, on the way back down back around 16. I dont remember to much that would have made it drop to 14, head wind, stop and go maybe or maybe I filled up with cheap gas, dunno. I usually run Sunoco and with the 4dr 22 gal tank I made it 307 before the gas light came on. I have 3" lift and 33" tires and 17" wheels.

3.73 might be depend on the condition you drive, but lifting it certainly won't help your mpg and I doubt you need to lift it for light trail.

For the use that you stated, I think overall you'll be happier with 3.73's. The difference in mileage isn't going to make or break it.
