2013 Rubicon - locking lug nuts

Picked up my 2013 Rubicon last week. I like the new wheel style, but dealer tells me they can't get locking lug nuts (McGard?) yet because they are different than 2012. Anyone have any luck purchasing or suggestions?

My 2013 JKR came with Mopar (McGard) locking lugs on all five rims.

I don't think anyone will steal those.... especially since only 50% of Jeepers like them. I'm on the side that does, so no flame war necessary. Just using some logic.

There will be plenty of take-offs, which will drive abundant supply.

Locking lug nuts are a waste of money IMO. A socket wrench can take them off. Someone who is determined enough to take your wheels will take them.

Agreed...to a point.

Of the four Jeeps that I have owned, one did not have locking lugs...and that was the one whose spare tire was stolen.

I also had a roof stolen in that same neighborhood...so it was a tough area.

I only lock the spare. Basically the low hanging fruit.

Gorilla has the most theft proof lugs. Each socket key is unique. They give you a sticker that has a code if you ever loose the key. Then you can mail it in a get a new one.

That's the set I just put on my 2013 JKS. Most sets you find at local autoparts stores only have 4 bolts...this set has all five needed for a Wrangler. Quality looking product that closely match the factory lugs.

BTW, I called McGard today to register my ID and order a spare key. It was 14.99 and they don't charge for shipping unless you need it fast. Makes me feel a bit better about the price.

I know that most service places can get it off without the key, but I would rather that they don't.

after looking at YouTube videos on how EASY it was
to take a locking lug nut off I decided to make it even
harded for them. Never mind only ONE locking lug per
wheel .... how about EVERY one of them !

Pray you don't get a flat going to work. It's a giant pain if it happens.

Well I am a lucky SOB then. My DD before I git my Jeep a
month and a have ago was the Dodge in my sig below.
Got it in the Fall of 2001 and have NEVER gotten a flat with
it 11 years with 135,000 miles on it. This Summer I took off
the spare that is attached underneath the truck. I was afraid
the hanger system would rust and it would break free while
driving. I saw it happen once on a pickup on a highway infront
of me. We were doing about 60 mph and luckily I was back
far enough that it bounced off the highway. It easily bounced
over 20 feet HIGH while sailing thru the air off the highway.
I have been driving since 1971 and married since 1979 and
have never had a flat while away from home on either mine
or my Wife's trucks. The few we have had were always noticed
while in our driveway and ya know .... they were ALWAYS on
HER truck .... LOL ...

If the OP (or anyone else) wants a set, I have a full extra set of these that I dont want. When I bought my black rims from DTD, they sent me a set of chrome lugs because they were out of black and wanted me to get my tires on asap. They sent me the black set a few weeks later so I put them on and took the chrome ones off and theyre just sitting in my dining room. PM me if interested.

Lug Nut Update
Took one of the existing lug nuts and checked the threads against a gauge, 1/2" - 20. Ended up ordering McGard set #24538 which has 5 locking nuts and a matching socket online for $26.00. Thanks for all of the feedback which basically said that the 2013 is the same as earlier Jeep threads, etc. Got rid of the cable and padlock that the dealer had installed - looks much better now.
