2013 jeep moab audio upgrade help

2013 jeep moab audio upgrade help
The Moab comes with the premium alpine 368 watt, 6 speaker, 1 subwoofer set up. I think it needs more bass and need suggestions. I like the Select Increments 40473SL - Select Increments Stealth-Pod with 10" Subwoofer and Amplifier for 76-13 Jeep® CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler, Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK & Unlimited - Quadratec
subwoofer with amp but how easy would it be to wire in? Would it just connect to the subwoofer wire thats in there on the subwoofer? Anyone know how to get to the subwoofer wire. Anyone ever hear this subwoofer before. Could use some help. What is a mopar kicker thats offered? Thanks Ron

Here we go!!!!

So the stereo build has started on my 10a:

I've just ordered Pioneer TS-A1675R 6.5" 3-Way Speakers from crutchfield.

I know everyone loves the kickers but if you compare the frequency response of the pioneers to the kickers I decided the Pioneers would work better.

Next the HU, backup camera.

If you dont replace the Head unit first, no reason to do much with speakers. I dont think you will hear much difference just replacing the speakers alone. I have a 13 JK Sahara, and replaced the Head Unit with a Kenwood 6190hd. Also replaced my dash and sound bar speakers with Polk's. And last, ran a Rockford Amp to the Sub, and replaced it with a Rockford 8"...I thought it sounded the best of all the 8" subs I heard. A little Polyfill and Dynamat and I would say it sounds pretty darn good now....

Only an 8" sub will fit. But I can tell you this. I put in the JL 8" W1V2 sub-woofer (cost about $125) and it rocks. It will pound the heck out of you if you want it to. I don't think it's worth it to go bigger unless all you want to hear is that boom.

I always opted for at least a 10" sub... maybe the 8" subs are better now, but JL Audio was always my choice. You can always put a custom enclosure back there and not have to be limited to an 8" subwoofer.

I was actually looking at the stealth box from JL and a 10" sub in that....but a friend told me to try this 8" sub he had just put in another jeep, and it accomplished what I needed, for about the cost of the stealth box w/o the sub.

So I have now fitted the pioneers in the soundbar, standard headunit and fronts still to do. I also poly filed.
First impression is VERY nice highs and mids but the lows about the same. Perhaps they will get better when they are run in a bit.
I will fit the same pioneers in the front this week and report.

I have to say that the factory alpines I removed are the best factory speakers I've seen to date.

latest

I now have the Kenwood 890HD, Backup camera and Pioneers all around and now the stock amp and sub have to go.

The Kenwood has an amazing sound processor which really works the sub, so low volume is great. Unfortunately there is no way you can crank it without some eq twaeking. The pioneers are great, super clear although I have a small rattle on the front passenger side I need to check.

I'm going to go for a new sub and amp next, sticking with 8" probably 2 ohm and approx 300 watts.

I'm eyeing up the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 for the pioneers as it will fit nicely behind the dash. Has anyone tried this amp?

Can some of you guys post some pictures of your install. I'm torn on a sub as I have a Sport and there is NO ROOM to put the darn thing anywhere.

I may be building some MDF enclousures to go under the front seats for JL W3 6.5" subs.

Not quite enough air volume but works ok. Thinking about porting.

Stay away from any OEM option. Wither its BOSE, JBL, Kicker, Infiniti, Harmon Kardon, ect they are all made of the same cheap materials. These materials, made mostly of paper and plastic, are terrible materials to reproduce frequencies from 20-20k hz. The factory setups are notched and filtered to not reproduce certain frequencies that would be detrimental to the speaker, due to construction. Therefor, your not getting a full bandwidth of sound (20-20k hz) So any OEM option you go with just simpily will not give you a full sound unless you install some sort of Digital Sound Processor (Audison Bit One, Mosconi, Rockford 360) to correct the eq curve of the OEM radio and Amp. And at this point you would still have to replace the spekaers with something better than an OEM option to actually reproduce the signal well. Hope this helps!
