I actually like those wheels better than the ones with black on 'em. I wonder whether the 2013 Sport S wheel will stay the same as 2012, as expected, or be something unexpected like these sahara rims. Also, what do the rubicon rims ACTUALLY look like?

Edit: can anyone point me to a post # where those original brochure pictures were posted?

If those are the standard rims, then we're going to have to seriously consider changing our order. The entire reason my wife wanted the Sahara was for the black rims.

Thanks! I was actually referring to the one that showed the black wheels and stuff, but this one is also helpful to have!

Edit- weird! I replied to a post and then it disappeared...

This is the only thing I can find... but it was released pretty early. Other black ones were done on people who photoshoped a color, so I don't know if they changed anything else.

I'm guessing the Rubicon wheels aren't really that black. That must be the mineral gray.

Im right there with your wife. I dont see any reason to buy the sahara now (at least for me) without the black wheels. Im not wanting any of the fancy sahara + only options anyway so a sport for me then it looks like...bugger

Edit: Do you know how boss the commando green would look with those "rumored" black rims? I NEED IT TO BE REAL!

I'm so right with you there. I want 2013 commando with black rims-I think that would look awesome. I was really happy when I saw the above pics of sahara and rubi dark rims. Like someone said earlier, I guess you could plasti-dip em. I'll be doing that to my 09 rims next week. I just was hoping for it to come in black.

It would be very hard to replicate the two tone effect from the preview photo using plasti-dip.

Your right, it would be. However I did see a guy on the plasti-dip thread do some very intricate work. I think all black would look much better than that polished look, IMHO. But thats just me. Others may really like it.

I may just be speaking for myself here but im sure others may be inclined to agree: I dont think the commando would look right with polished aluminum wheels. Yeah sure you can plastidip them, Ive painted and powdercoated wheels before too. Its just...not the same you know?

100% agree with you. I saw a pic on here somewhere of a commando rubi, with the black wheels(mock up)--awesome looking. I would do black accents all over the commando color. Silver polished wheels have no business being on a color like commando. Might look ok on true blue, or black, maybe deep cherry. I think white or billet with black wheels would also look real good.

I ordered the alpine stereo and did not order sirius. As far as I know, my order went through (ordered on June 13, but it's still in the "production scheduled" status). That said, maybe ssmith is right, and it does require Sirius, and maybe that could explain why my order seems to be delayed....
I'm glad I read this because I was just about to call up my sales person and take it off my build list.

The seats look very, very nice. They visually appear to be a very big upgrade from previous years. Very big props to Jeep for those seats. The Sahara wheels, um, I am not really caring for those all that much. I expected them to be dark, maybe even black, but they are much lighter in color than I was expecting. It makes me wonder if the Rubicon wheels are not really going to be a black either. My fingers are crossed that the Rubicon wheels are black.

Those sahara wheels SUCK without being black!!! I ordered dozer to have the black wheels coordinate, so after seeing Pat's photos I went to the dealer to try and cancel my order but he told me they can't because it's still in D1 status and has a VIN #. Basically I'll take a look at it when it comes in and if they still have some of the '12 altitudes sitting around (which don't seem to be selling very well) they told me at that point they might be able to swap the black wheels from one for the sahara wheels (hehe picture that, an altitude with the new sahara wheels). I said you can do that?? He told me they own the vehicles they can do what they want, so hoping it'll all still work out... Otherwise I'm not spending a dime on aftermarket black wheels since the vehicle (and sticker price) is already loaded to the hilt.

Indeed. I think the black gives a touch of aggressiveness that suits the wrangler to its core. Especially with a name like commando. If the color was like polly pocket green then yeah sure brushed/polished aluminum works. I have no reason to get a sahara now so i guess that saves me some paper which isnt a bad thing.

Good luck, hope the dealer changes wheels for you. Dozer with black wheels would look cool. Add some other black accents and it would look really awesome.

How possible is it that the build sheet was wrong and those are really the optional ones? Was that the only sahara that showed up?

Im new to the whole jeep thing so the mod pprtion is going to be slow and painful because of the learning curve. Im not familiar with the brands or associated reputations or anything. I dont even know what the "cool" wheel manufacturers are for this type of thing. Hopefully jeep arent more expensive then tuners, cause after my mods on my wrx i only have one more kidney and a couple of limbs left for parts.

It is possible, we have gotten new window stickers for vehicles that were delivered and did not show the right equipment.

It's the only one I got in today. First one was supposed to be a Sport.

I'm hoping to get a few more in over the weekend.

Earlier on Pat claimed it wasnt an option, but he appears to be gone for the evening so we'll have to wait on verification. Im hoping its wrong. On the spreadsheet it lists the saharas aluminum wheels as like a $600 dollar option. So heres to hoping its wrong...

Edit: Pat is a freaking ninja, so i guess we didnt have to wait LOL

They might look great, personally i think black wheels with Billet would be cool. But seeing how I haven't seen the actual color billet on a wrangler yet, I will reserve judgement. The paint chip looks really good though. Would love to see it in real life. It gets tough waiting for all these new cool colors to come out.

In the Gecko room somebody posted a pic of their 2013 Sport. It has the same wheels as the 2012 S.

Well at least thats squared away for those of us considering sports in lieu of the sahara (or for those who already ordered sport/s). Thanks GeckoJK!

Lol everyone is Freaking out because wheels that were never black are not black again. They're just wheels! Compared to the 2012 Sahara rims, they're actually pretty sharp IMO.
