For once it pays to live in IL! First time ever! I'd definitely be raisin some hell about that! Did you order leather?

From another thread....hmmmm....could it be that Commando Green is being held back for the Freedom Edition? That would suck....

Leather huh? Will the 2013 Freedom Edition be based on a Sahara or Rubi?

I know, it was a little frustrating getting emails asking me if I could have someone else take pics. Not PMs actual emails. At the same time it is funny that I stink so much at it. My wife tends to point it out just about everytime I get behind a camera.

Freedom edition is based off of the Sport S package

I think your pics are great. People should be grateful that they're getting this information so fast, instead of whining that you aren't a professional photographer. Photos on the internet will never give us an entirely accurate idea of what these vehicles look like anyway. We appreciate that you take the time to snap and post these for us.

I appreciate every picture you've posted, and they're fine, it's silly to expect professional photos of this stuff. Thanks for all the pics and all the info :-)

Dude, but married to Dudette. It is 877-IAM-JEEP. 800- IAM-JEEP seemed to be a parts department.

I now know the VIN, but there is nothing concrete yet. Scheduled ship is 8/3, but it does not seem to have hit the manufacturing floor yet, so that date is soft. There seems to be some batching of models, colors, trim packages... The guy on the phone did not even know how they batch these things. Luckily I am a very patient person.

Headed for Lake Tahoe this evening. If I had my Rubicon, I could drive on its name sake. I will be left in my Chevy pickup taking the easier trails and taking a beating from its stiff suspension. Oh well, it will be beautiful none the less. 80 degree highs with nights in the 40s. We are using a friend's cabin so no sleeping in a tent this weekend. Civilization has its comforts.

I guess we will need to plan some Fall outings. Maybe Death Valley at Thanksgiving.

No leather (first question the Jeep rep asked). My son leaves for Indiana next month for school. Illinois is just on the other side of the river from him. I guess that gives us a tie to the Land of Lincoln.

Ordered
Rubicon Unlimited
Bright White
Max Tow package
Automatic
Side airbags
Heated Seats
430 infotainment system
Black hard top
Connectivity group

Lots of great trails out here calling our name. Too bad my son will be gone by the time the Jeep shows up.

Other people seem to get more info out of IAMJEEP than I do... when I call all they say is "It's in line" - they haven't given me schedule ship date. Dealer has told me that he sees an estimate of 8/2, but given other people seeing delays at inspection, storage, I'm not going to be surprised if it ships later than 8/2. I'll be delighted to be wrong on this, of course!

The instruments look the same as 2012 except the tire pressures instead of an idiot light. The only thing I found irritating in the 2012 was that in low range the display insists on telling you that traction control is off when you really want to see the trip odometer so that you know where your next turn is. You can clear the warning, but every time you stop to look around you get reminded that the traction control is off. Oddly enough, yelling that the dashboard does not fix the problem. Go figure!

I think the auto dimming rear view mirror is a great add on. Especially with all those on the road who forget to dim their lights behind you. Wish the Jeep came with JeeTops. If you don't know what they are, google them. Kind of neat add on.

Pat - you get any JKU's yet that weren't dual-top groups?

Super curious about the quality of the 'premium' top and to see the first youtube clip of the 'Spring assisted' soft top being taken up/down.

I know 99.9% appreciate it, and I'll always try to post anything that I think is relevant to this forums members.

Wheel Look Alike

I have not seen the new challenger wheels yet, but the new Rubi wheels look remarkably similar to the wheels on the vehicle I will be trading in for a Rubicon... 2001 Chevy Blazer ZR2. Maybe I'm just attracted to this style of wheel...

1) Chrysler Corporate says Rock Lobster is on hold "Indefinitely"
2) Commando will only be available for the Call of Duty model

I hope someone in here has better news for me on these colors than that!
I bought my sons each a 2012 wrangler unlimited and based on the first post (Commando available Sept 4th) decided to wait for this color to order my Rubi. Anyone know if there is any truth to the Call of Duty rumor and if it is correct when can you order this model with Commando Green color?????

I have to admit I'm not completely stoked on the auto dimming mirror. Usually the back window is tinted anyway. My last three cars have had them, including my Civic. However I really do like autodimming side mirrors. For some reason it seems like you need to buy real expensive cars to get them. The Grand Cherokee has them on both side mirrors but get this, the Durango only autodims the drivers side only.

The same goes with the express auto up and down feature they tend to only put on the drivers side. Does it really cost that much more to make all the windows do that?

The auto-dimming rear view mirror is probably the feature I care the most about (that and saddle interior for Sports). I actually find auto-dimming mirror annoying...but I love the idea of having a factory equipped power supply into the mirror so that some type of HomeLink garage door opener can be installed.

Did the Google search. This just may be mod #1. I've seen something similar on Quadratec.com, but that was only for the front seats. Will have to check into this further.

Sorry I sent you to the parts department! Have fun @ Tahoe. I lived in the East Bay for a few years, and would head up to Tahoe in the winter when I got homesick (grew up in New England, so Tahoe was the closest place with snow and woods!)
