People with a '13.. do you think the seats are softer than the '12s? Wider? More comfy? Less comfy? Worth the change? I've read mixed reviews about them.

That is because there is no "Tread Lightly" discount. Tread Lightly gets you into the Affiliates Program, which many people already qualify for through their employer. As about the Affiliates program, and if you have a Jeep dealer who has no clue what that is....I would run.

Had a problem on how to work the interior lights
but finally figured how to this morning.
Also it has a small problem :-(
The is air whooshing in on the bottom left corner of the
drivers side front window and the dash. Either gasket
installed wrong or maybe a plug in firewall missing and
the air comming in up behind dash up to windshield.
Either way no biggy buy annoying when windows rolled
up and radio off. I am sure an easy fix. Might try the
Sunrider option on the way home if no rain.
Rob ....
I had the same issue with my interior lights. Didn't have to resort to the owners manual, but I was getting awfully close before I figured it out.

That day is a long way off. Look up some old Jeeps to find one with a book value below 2k, you have to go a long way back. Pre-TJ at least, unless you are looking at insane milage.

Read the manual and make a technical writer happy! Kidding. That was just the first thought that popped into my head. Now. To stop procrastinating and get back to my writing...

When you talk to a dealer, they don't care (or likely know) about Tread Lightly. What they care about is that you have a membership that grants you Affiliate Rewards pricing. Note, many people already work for a company that also grants them Affiliate Rewards pricing - and the two don't stack up (i.e. Affiliate Rewards pricing is 1% under invoice even if you have both Tread Lightly and membership through your employer.)

Edit: glap beat me to it! I need to type faster...

Sorry but I feel compelled to point out that this is generally incorrect. There is no law (at least in any state I've ever heard of) restricting the labeling of an extended warranty where a customer pays for the warranty. If you can cite a consumer statute doing so I would be interested to read it.

extended warranty. (1936) An additional warranty often sold with the purchase of consumer goods (such as appliances and motor vehicles) to cover repair costs not otherwise covered by a manufacturer's standard warranty, by extending either the standard-warranty coverage period or the range of defects covered. — Also termed extended service warranty; extended service contract.

Unfortunatly my company was in the process of being sold when
I first started looking into buying a Jeep three months ago.
So I did not want to take any chances if the new one did or
did not (present company does). Needless to say my company
officailly will be sold in 2 weeks. So all in all I did not need T/L
but like insurance or warranty I was not taking the chance.
NOW .... on the T/L discount EVERYONE please stop saying
you get to buy at 1% below Invoice. T/L "ONLY" gauranties
the Dealer CAN NOT charge any higher BUT that does not
mean they can not sell it lower and STILL USE use the T/L discount. The first Dealer I demo'ed a Jeep at and also the reason I wanted one would only do the 1% below. I found FOUR others that would go lower and my final Dealer went lower than them all ! I even told the 1st Dealer about the four and gave them another chance but they said no thanks. I inturned tried my final dealer and have been impressed with them greatly so far.

That is billet indeed. I saw a couple of billet chargers from '11 sitting on a dealer lot next to some Jeeps. I thought it looked pretty dark (to be a true replacement for silver). Everyone has different tastes, too dark for mine on a JKU (and I think that pic makes it look slightly lighter than in person). Of course if it's in direct sunlight it makes a difference, as the old bright silver almost looked white in lots of sun.

There is a firewall gasket on the driver's side behind the dash that could be the place air is coming in.

Hey Jakob, is Remote Start an option all to itself? I originally have told my guy to order with Max Tow, but considering I'll be swapping to ACE rear bumper/carrier with integrated receiver, I think it'd be a waste of money to order the Max Tow Package. I may opt for remote start if it's a lone option.

As an aside, if I do skip the Max Tow, can wiring be easily addressed if I opt for the integrated receiver on the ACE rear bumper/carrier?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found in the spreadsheet that Remote Start is XBM option code. How about that wiring though? That alone isn't a good reason to stay with Max Tow, right? It's easily connected to an aftermarket option?

Looks like maybe leather has finally arrived. As of today the 877 # said my est. build date is 8/9 (was 8/13 last week) so I'm getting optimistic (could arrive here in MI this week)! Plus, I'm hoping it gets here sooner than later since my dealer has agreed to swap the new sahara wheels (and TPMS) with some black wheels from a '12 Altitude, which they have 3 but aren't selling very fast. I was never crazy over them, but I do like the stock black wheels from them on dozer.

3% under invoice in DFW

Just finalized my pricing on 2013 JKU order. Waiting for Billet to open up now. I sent an email to 20 local dealers requesting 3% under invoice and 2 responded with a yes. Let me know if you're planning to order in the DFW area and I can save you some time weeding out the "let me talk you into a 2012" or "Wranglers are in high demand so we don't need to negotiate" speech.

That's because Billet and Commando is an urban legend. Its just black and white Jeeps from here on out.

Yeah, but this is also the same manual that tells you to "hit the 'Shuffle Soft-Key" to turn on Shuffle". Yet they never actually tell you where to find the shuffle soft key.

That's because I believe it is a federal law. Here is a good reference (http://www.ryanswansonlaw.com/Docume...vice_Plans.pdf) The lines between warranties, service contracts and insurance are subtle, but this is why you never see those manufacturer plans ever called "warranties.". They are not provided without consideration.

Sounds like you were looking at sound equipment instructions? Those are a different animal entirely. However, as an aside, sometimes technical writers have to write about features that don't exist yet (gasp!). Perhaps at the time of writing the "Shuffle Soft-Key" was on the Features List but not yet on the product...and then they forgot to update the doc. Or couldn't. (I know. Excuses, excuses.)

p.s. Did you ever find that Shuffle Soft-Key? Because that's now one of the first things I shall look for when I get my Jeep...

The Jeeps sit high as it is and with the tinted glass and spare tire and let's be honest, with the hard top on and even the stock tire in the back there isn't a lot of window to look out of. For the top down night driver this can be very helpful especially with every knuckle head putting in aftermarket lights and not aiming them properly. Again you may get 1 in 20 cars driving behind you with either high beams on by accident or out of focus aftermarket lights. The pros out weigh the cons on the mirrors for me and I wouldn't mind getting one. It hasn't been a problem enough for me to need one. I just want one.
I've long complained about the lack of side dimming mirrors on all cars with so called "auto dimming mirrors". The Grand Cherokee has them on both sides, but the Durango only has them on one. Most cars only offer it on the center rear view mirror. Same with express down windows on the driver's side only. Why not on all windows? Jeep's semi luxury approach to the Wrangler has always baffled me. Why offer automatic headlights, AC, and dimming mirrors, but not offer Homelink? The self dimming center mirror is definately not a reason I'd take a 13 over a 12. I do like the new wheels and soft top. Cup holder lighting is a nice touch for me, since I drive to work at O'dark thirty and drink excessive amounts of coffee. Its nice to know where the cup holders are.

I got my status updated today as "in paint". My ship date is Aug 13 as well. You should here something on your build here soon.

Does an aftermarket radio like this allow you to use the steering wheel buttons?

Yessir, you can still retain factory steering wheel controls by using a PAC Audio control module. They vary by HU choice, but I'm seeing all the big HU manufacturers on the site.

I want to point out that affiliate pricing can be combined with tread lightly discount, as well as other discounts. Most dealers will tell you that they can't, but with a little persuasion dealers will combine them. I'm combining 3 discounts. Just because you have affiliate pricing doesn't mean you shouldn't get a tread lightly membership. Plus you are helping support a great non profit organization.

There's no such thing as a Tread Lightly discount.

Membership in that organization gives you access to Affiliate Pricing, which is the discount many people in this thread reference.

The distinction should be noted.

Fine, I appreciate your need to be implicitly specific....point is you can combine multiple "affiliate pricing" qualifications.

For those that have had 2012 JKU's and now have 2013's (or have been able to compare). Are the doors really easier to shut?
