I get roll control and traction control (which we've been discussing as BLD). I like the idea of having those in high-speed rain/snow/ice conditions (my 97 TJ did not to my knowledge, or it completely sucked).

About that hill hold control... does this work on a manual? Have seen that on other cars, basically when you hit the brake w/ clutch depressed, the brake stays on until you let off the clutch/gas it. Could be a very nice feature halfway up a rock hill. I often used the "turn the key w/ clutch out" trick in those situations. You always get a rousing chorus of "battery powered jeep!" from spectators.

Also reminds me, can you defeat the ABS for offroading by pulling a fuse like the TJs (I think that's how we used to do it)?

Finally, since I've been out of this for a while, can anyone name the best-reviewed underhood air compressor these days? Is ARB's still the pick of the litter? Thanks so much, all!
From 2012 Wrangler Owner Manuel.

"HSA On Automatic Transmission Vehicles
The system will work in REVERSE, and all forward gears
on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission.
The system will not activate if the vehicle is placed in
NEUTRAL.
HSA On Manual Transmission Vehicles
The system will work in REVERSE, forward gears, and
NEUTRAL on manual transmission equipped vehicles.
The system does not recognize NEUTRAL on manual
vehicles, thus it will hold the vehicle on an incline for a
short period while in NEUTRAL, regardless of clutch
position. To prevent this, do not attempt to roll down a
hill simply by putting the transmission in NEUTRAL and
letting gravity act on the vehicle, as the HSA will prevent
the vehicle from rolling. Instead, use the appropriate gear
for moving in the desired direction.
Towing With HSA
HSA will provide assistance when starting on a grade
when pulling a trailer."

I cannot find the answer to ABS disable. ESC(Electronic Stability Control) can be turned off 100% with a dash switch according to the manual. ABS is part of this so-called ESC system, see below. BUT I question it ALSO being disabled when ESC is off ..........from the Manuel again.

"ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM
Your vehicle is equipped with an advanced electronic
brake control system that includes Anti-Lock Brake System
(ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist
System (BAS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Electronic Roll
Mitigation (ERM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC),
Trailer Sway Control (TSC), and Hill Descent Control
(HDC). All of these systems work together to enhance
vehicle stability and control in various driving conditions,
and are commonly referred to as ESC."

Leather vs Cloth Seats

Last week I ordered a 2013 JKUR with cloth seats. However, wife wants leather. My question is, which one is better when it gets wet? I plan to off road quite a bit with the top down, and I'm sure the seats will get wet from an unexpected down pour out in the mountains.

I have a small window to change my mind before it's goes into 'Scheduled for Production' status.

Went through the same debate, there are some threads on the forum

http://www.wranglerforum.com/search....archid=6053303

I decided I would probably be getting some water-resistant seat covers regardless of what seat type I orderd, so couldn't justify shelling out the extra $$$ for leather.

As far as I know, the only way to disable ABS is with a kill switch. There are a few threads that detail how to do it. Most of the ESC functions except for ABS can be turned off by doing a complicated procedure with the steering wheel and the ESC button. For most of the electronic braking programs that would actually get in the way during off roading are killed by the ESC button or dropping it in 4 low.

I ordered my Sahara on August 10th and just received an email stating that it "has a 9/6 estimated ship date." That's so fast!!!!! Of course, I know there's shipment time to add to it, but I honestly didn't expect to see it until October.

Regardless, I asked my salesman if it was possible to volunteer for the extra Quality Assurance inspection because, if yes, I'd like my Jeep to be extra-checked. He said he would see what he could do...(but I don't really expect him to do anything about it because why would he? The longer it takes for delivery, the longer it will be before I pay him for the vehicle).

That kinda looks like silverstone metallic, but I don't think the made it past 2001... TJ appears to have 2002 and earlier mirrors and 2003 gray flares or really faded ones

Hey Dave,

Would you mind taking a photo of the front seats from the drivers side?
I noticed you passenger side does not have the plastic covering over the frame base from 2011+ (I think).

Quality Assurance Inspection

AlphabetHoops...congrats on your quick turnaround. On my end I received a confirmation on August 14th that Jeep received my order. Seven steps to go...

Can someone shed some light on what the "Quality Assurance Inspection" is all about?

Thx scipio. I ended up sticking with the cloth based on the link you provided and some more research. Wife not too happy, but at least we got the heated seats, which was more important. Other reason is that my JKUR (Commando Green) is now in production status, so I cannot change the order unless I cancel and start all over.

Just a guess...but...could that be because the passenger side front seat is not height adjustable like the driver side is?

Thank you! I'm sure someone will provide details about the added inspection because I clearly have no idea what it's about. But I will shed some light on it by explaining that somewhere in the thousands of posts in this thread, someone complained about a delay in shipment because their Jeep was selected for a random x-point inspection. That's all I know. I understood not liking the delay, but having one's new vehicle extra-inspected didn't/doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.

Now...hopefully someone will provide more information about it...

Hey guys. New to the site. Have a 2010 Sahara Unlimited. Thinking about upgrading to a 2013.

I am looking at the Sport S because I don't think it's necessary to go Sahara this time.

Is there any way to add the Automatic Air Conditioning controls after the fact? Would it possibly be simple as swapping out the controls? Or are there other internals that would need to be addressed?

Anyone done this before either in a Wrangler or maybe a Liberty (that I believe has the same controls) ??

Thanks in advance.

I would do cloth. If you are going to have the top down a lot or do any 4 wheeling I would keep it cloth. The leather seats on here look beautiful but I can only imagine what they might look like in 5 years of wetness and grime. My TJ has a leather steering wheel and it's not a pretty sight, but it sure was nice when new. I guess you can always have the leather re-done someday.
