I recommend that you do not rely upon the supplied directions, because they basically show you nothing. They don't even tell you to reinstall the rubber gasket, or how to do so. I basically figured it out myself but realized I made a few mistakes after looking at the above writeup, and then took it all apart again and re-installed it correctly.
Thanks again THW!
Installed it today, that link made it really easy!

I am starting an Occupy Jeep dealership movement soon so they don't sell it from underneath me!

Newb question:
What is the best grade fuel to put into my new shinny JKUR when I get it?
Should I stick to 89 octane?

I guess that would be 1.5 or 2% below invoice, IMO that is a pretty good deal.

Clarification on saddle interior please...

Now I'm confused. Can I get the saddle cloth interior on an unlimited sport S or just on the Sahara and Rubicon? I was hoping to build up a sport S but REALLY wanted the saddle interior. Possible or no?

Thanks,

Tyler

Make sure you check and see if your company you work for gets a discount. The company I work for gets 2% below cost. It doesn't hurt to ask, it may save you 2-3k...

On the Sport you can have any interior color you want as long as it is black. You have to go Sahara or Rubicon to get saddle.

Yes, you can pick what you want AND with a 2013 you have a car that is worth a lot more the day you drive it off the lot than a new 2012 would be that same day.....but probably paid roughly the same. I know wranglers hold their value well, but I would order the 2013 just to gain the depreciation difference between a 12 and a 13.

Hey Guys, I got my Sahara Command Green ordered on 2012/08/04 and was given a VON but no word on VIN yet.
I am in Canada and my Dealer said it is in "C" status and that is all he could tell me.
Does any one know how to track orders in Canada or get a VIN??? If I get the VIN is it possible for someone in the U.S. to track it???? I have tried both IAMJEEP (was told no infor try a canadian version.....looked but does not exisit from what I have found) and VOTS tells me invaild name or number.

Thanks

This is sometimes true. However if you plan on driving a lot of miles sometimes its a wash buying a previous year model at the end of the model year. If you buy a '13 in Aug of 2012 then sell it in Dec of 2013, for resale purposes, it would appear that you'r car is 12 months old even though you have put on almost 17 months of driving. If you drove 15K miles a year, you'd have about 22K miles on the odometer when you sold it which you'd take a depreciation hit for high mileage. By getting a 12 at the same time, it would look like your mileage per year is half of that which would seem rather low for a 2 year old car. Also for states like SC and a lot of other states with a personal property tax, you'd rather pay taxes on something that looks like its a year old already for tax purposes as the first year depreciation is the biggest.

That being said, it was hard for me to find a '12 back in May with the options I wanted and we were looking within a 450 mile radius. The Jeeps we did find would have cost almost $400 to ship down here and would already have 450 miles or so on the odometer. In other words I would have paid more and not gotten exactly what I wanted, and getting a year old car with miles on it on the first day at that. Plus I would have missed out on the cool cup holder lights, new seats, and wheels. Looking at the used cars at the dealer, one year old Sports with about 10K miles are going for only $2K less then what I paid for a new Rubi. I'm sure there's more room to negotiate though on the used prices. Especially on Jeeps with unpopular features down here (I'm sure selling a Jeep with no AC in SC in the summer is a buyers market).

Why would you think about using anything but what they recommend? Increasing octane is not a good idea and a waste of money. Spend some time researching how engine's work and why different octanes are suggested for different engines and you'll understand better.

Unfortunately.....it turned out to be black only for the Sport/Sport S.

I got mine ordered at about 2.3% below invoice and about 8.3% below MSRP. Also got the dealer to waive all doc fees and fill up the gas tank on delivery. Some dealers will work with you, some are a little hard headed about it. I worked with about 6-7 dealerships initially, narrowed it down to 3 and worked them against one another to get the best deal for my order. I worked with dealers in about a 150 mile radius from me. The drive to get it will be worth saving another $100 or so.

It took me an extra week, but I got my order in Friday from a dealer that is about 65 miles from my house. Ordered everything and paid the deposit over the phone, have never stepped foot on their lot. I'll drive right past two others to go pick it up next month.

Good info. Thanks for that. One more follow up, was this all just good negotiating or did you have the tread lightly or any other "discounts"? I am going through truecar.com and it seems to be working so far.

Until it is in D status, it isn't trackable because it isn't even scheduled to build yet. When you get a Vin and the dealer tells you D1, pm me your Vin and I will try to help you.

I dont remember saying anything about increasing octane. Just asked which one to use because when i pick up my Jeep i will be too excited to start looking into manuals and what not plus my dealer is useless to ask anything..

Beautiful, just the combo I bought in 2 door! Is yours unlimited, or 2 door? Seems 2 doors are in minority.

The only vehicles that really need premium gas are high performance vehicles. Most cars and trucks only require regular gas.

Don't be so sure. Any manufacturing company needs to randomly select whatever widget they make to do quality inspections. From randomly tasting beer at Budweiser to inspecting Jeeps, a company would be foolish to blindly ship without spot checking. Jeep isn't held to six sigma standards, but they surely have to maintain some tolerances in their products. And without testing, you'd never know if you were accomplishing that.

That being said, to answer your original question I would highly doubt you could have yours flagged for this testing. That would take the randomness out of it. For as sincere as your intentions are, the same ability could be used for not as good of intentions by someone else, inside the company.

You're very likely correct. However I remember the poster who had their Jeep "100% quality checked" seemed like it took a week. It seems like a good random quality inspection would be at every stage of assembly. Even then you could randomly select a different Jeep at each stage and make it even more random.

That and I doubt they'd have a code for "tooling fixture fell on Jeep, attemping to salvage" and expect to sell it for the same price to the customer who ordered it.

I can find like a thousand videos for raising/lowerin a soft top on a JKU. However, has anyone found one which details the actual installation of one? Upon delivery, mine was removed by the dealership and placed in the back of the Jeep. It's been sitting in the garage ever since. Worse case, I'll remove the hard top, load the soft top back in, and just take it to the dealership and have them show me.

I am so ticked off. My Jeep has been setting in Nashville since last Thursday. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Called my dealer this morning and they have no idea when it may leave the yard in Nashville. I live 4 hours away this is so frustrating. Lol guess i just needed to vent for a sec. I guess everyday it stays there will be that many less miles i put on it.
