Worse case, I'll remove the hard top, load the soft top back in, and just take it to the dealership and have them show me.

Yeah I was looking for videos last night on installation/deinstall so when my dual top jeep comes in I know how to remove the soft top. I couldn't find anything though (just raise, lower) so figure I'll get a tutorial at pick up but a link to a video would be great if there's one out there.

Now I'm confused. I thought I saw some pics of an unlimited Rubicon auto with leather, or was I mistaken?

actually it is pretty easy once the hardtop is off.
there is a box with the door surronds that go on
easy with only the hand crank screws they supply.
I just laid them out on the ground first to make
sure which side went where. As for the top itself
mine was there under my hard top and my Buddy
made sure it was in the right position. You have to
release the straps ( I believe one each side - sorry
I would go look but mine is at dealer for them to
reseal the windshield). Once top is ready to unfold
we just stretched it out but DID NOT clip in up front.
We then zippered in side windows and there are rear
corner clips that just push in for the rear corners.
I believe they call them Sail Panels. After that we
did the rear window and there is a mounting piece
that attachs to bottom of rear window. When that
is finally done you then clip front clips by top of
windshield. Sorry I didnt do a video or take pictures
while doing it because it was sooo friggin hot I forgot.
I think I lost 5lbs in sweat that day ... lol

Right. That's why I said the website wasn't right. I ordered an auto with leather. There is a problem on the jeep website when building a 2013 JKU Rubicon with an auto trans and leather seats.

Hard top off is easy...8 #40 Torx screws (for a JKU). Putting the soft top requires a #30 bit (go figure on that). I went out this weekend to Sears and bought something similar to the attached image. Something dedicated that I can keep in the storage bin.

Anyone think that if I order a 13 Sahara with those ugly rims, the dealer might switch them out for me? For some 2012s off something on the lot? xD

I believe so ...
My Buddy has a 2dr Wrangler a few years old and
came over to help. Door surrounds are easy just
watch out for the shorter hand screw. Now I am
going from memory here ... 2 long ones and one
short one each side. All screw down from the top
of roll bar. I believe the short ones go on top of
bar located by rear seat. BTW ... my truck is
ready (they re-sealed windshield) so if you guys
are interested I could take some pictures tonight
when I get home ? I will be driving home with the
top back so it will not be a problem to do so.
I'll even look at how the whole thing pivots and
how that attaches.

You ain't lying, there doesn't seem to be any video on this subject. I don't know how many links I found for "removing a soft top" just to find some clown "lowering a soft top". Since when is dropping the top on any convertible considered removing it?

However, now that I have a soft top and more importantly a 2013 manual, it appears that what you read in the 2012 owners manual is still acurate with the exception of the spring assist mechanism requires an included tether strap to hold the spring mechanism together when you remove the soft top. It will make more sense when you have a Jeep to play with. Unfortunately the 2013 manual doesn't seem to be available online anywhere, its just on the DVDs that come with the Jeep at the moment.

I loved the first video, where the guy actually stops to see who was calling him on his cell phone. So obviously there is something that gets screwed to the top so Tim Tiebow has a place to lock into?

OK .... Pictures later tonight and I will
remember better how we did it by looking at.
It was ALOT easier than I thought it would be.
Did make it easier with two people though for
the 1st time. Like many have mentioned the
top needs stretching. I noticed now after
two weeks of having it on it is even easier
to latch it closed. The Premium top material
is so nice and soft compared to the stock
version. When I look at my Jeep when it is
closed it reminds me of an old baby carraige
but TEN times bigger ... LOL ...

tail lamp guards, black fuel door & entry guards. Dealer swap with altitude wheels (white letters in). I took the front silver appliqué off but then decided I actually like better with it on (in pictures it never looks as good but in person another story). I just have to get my front pre-runner light bar & KC fogs installed & she'll be ready to head to the desert this fall!

Nice, I like the black fenders and top better with the color, but it is an eye catching vehicle!

So glad you finally got it and the wheels do look really good with the Dozer color!! Are you happy? I am excited for you!!

So, tell me where did you get the scorpion tire cover, that is really neat!!!

Thanks! yeah this was specifically for Vegas (with perhaps some mild desert trail offroading) so I didn't mind it being a little over the top with color . If I were to buy another for strictly around these parts it'd be something in the greens or silvers & probably a rubi. The tire cover is from boomerang, they offer color matched hard covers to order, then I had a local guy that does graphics cut the scorpion for me.

Here are the 3 knobs I was talking about that
you have to put on to secure the door surrounds.

Does anybody have good interior pictures of the new dark saddle leather version yet? I saw Pat's pics already, but couldn't really tell what the bottom part of the interior looks like. Just trying to decide if I should order Weathertech floor liners in tan or black for the JKUR I ordered, that's all...

Thanks!

Now I remember about the soft top install.
When you get the Dual Top option the soft
top is already ATTACHED to the roll bar.
You do have to undo the straps holding it.
There is a paper tag attached to straps.
After the door surrounds are on undo straps
then extend the soft top towards the front.
You do need to clip the front down to be able
to stretch the rear back corners into their
black plastic pieces.

Purchasing/ordering JKU soon for the Wife. She really likes True Blue...I see that is only available in Freedom Edition?
We had been thinking of a Sahara as She wants heated seats...

If I am correct you can only get TB but cannot get heated seats in a Freedom JKU? (could not build this combo on Jeeps site...)

Or you can get heated seats...but not TB in a Sahara?

Just because this is not available on the Jeeps site...does this mean the dealer could not order for us?

Tx, Bill

Bill,

You'll probably get several more replies, but here's my take: True Blue can definitely be ordered for all 2013 Saharas and Rubicons, and yes, you'd have to "step up" to a Sahara (or Rubicon) to get the heated seats. The Freedom Edition is a 2012 model, so don't worry about its restrictions; the 2013s just can't be configured on Jeep.com yet. There's an excellent spreadsheet available somewhere in this thread that allows you to configure "your" exact JK, with all the pricing. Most colors can be found in this thread, too; however, Jeep is rolling out colors throughout the model year, so some of the new colors are still subject to speculation/wishful thinking.
Good luck,

LarsA
