I found that I can stream audio with the base 130 radio and Connectivity Group also. I found it by accident actually... Pushed one of the buttons behind the steering wheel and all of a sudden my iPhone was playing and it was still in my pocket.

That is how I found it. Auxillary mode. As you use your button to change modes between Sirius, Am, FM and AUX/HD/DISC

I did go to a local dealer and checked it out for myself. Connected my phone and streamed Pandora. I have the 730 in my 2011 Ram, so I'm familiar with the system. Mine doesn't stream though and I love that even the new 430's have this capability.

Have you tried loading pictures on the hard drive? I can do that on my 730 and use it in place of the default picture. And the Jeep.com site says the new 730 allows album artwork for loaded music on the hard drive. Does the 430 do this? Not a deal killer...

This would have been a deal killer for me since that's how I use the radio 90% of the time. The 130 only does it with connectivity group I believe. For a base radio, the 130 has quite a bit of features.

What info exactly does the EVIC provide? And is it worth paying for the Connectivity Group?

Did you have Bluetooth on by default on your IPhone? Usually there is a pairing process that should happen for bluetooth, Or if you and i were both in your jeep, how would the radio know which iphone to start playing audio from?

I'm curious if USB connectors are only for USB data (like playing mp3 files off a data stick), or do they provide power to charge device, and/or if it pulls the iPhone/iPod audio through the USB cable as well.
Could you kindly test this?

I'm getting the same setup as you - base 130 with connectivity. My preference would be to play audio through the USB, although I believe I saw a mini stereo AUX input (but I loath visible/unsightly cables). So perhaps Bluetooth streaming is the best choice.

Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated

Can't answer all of your questions, but to the pairing question - he had probably already paired his device. He probably paired it for call usage, just didn't know he could also stream music over BT.

The USB powers the iPhone and pulls data from it. You can Bluetooth as well which acts like the aux in that you still have control using your phone. You can also use the steering wheel buttons to control Bluetooth. The only thing it won't do is show your playlist.

Average mpg,
individual tire pressure,
warnings like door ajar, etc.
Elapsed time
Radio station ( the base EVIC does this as well I think)
Personalization ( without this you'll have to do a complicated procedure to get the doors to unlock with one button press, among other features)
I think nav info ends up here as well, but someone with nav will have to verify

Yes I had already paired my phone and usually use the iPod features via the USB port (which is inside the console so there are no unsightly cables). I just hadn't realized that you could also stream via Bluetooth. The iPod user experience is better using the USB port as it supports some features like selecting playlists that don't seem to be available via Bluetooth. Yes, the USB cable charges the phone also.

I've got the base 130 with connectivity, and the USB charges and carries audio and data - I usually start a playlist in the music app on my iPhone, then plug in the USB and select aux input on the radio, and my iPhone music will be playing through the Jeep's speakers. I haven't figured out how to control the music app through the radio/steering wheel controls (if you can).

There is a pairing process, and the USB ports do provide a charge, albeit a very slooow charge.

You can but I haven't taken the time to figure them all out. The left rear buttons will let you do the next/previous track navigation of your playlist. You can use the list button and tuning knob on the face of the radio to select and scroll through playlists too. Turn the tuning knob to scroll through choices and push it to select a choice.

Question

Finally ordered yesterday

JKU Rubicon Billet

When the dealer put the order in the system showed item 24R Customer Preferred Package on restriction. The dealer said this means that some part of the electronics package was on restriction.

Anyone hear about this, or what it is specifically? Pat?

I thought the 24/23 package distinction on all of the trim levels was simply the auto (24) vs manual (23). Could it be that the autos are now on restriction?

I see my play list in aux mode when streaming. I can even ask it through voice commands to play a song

Have any marketing materials come out yet for 2013? I though sales materials were supposed to drop on 9/1?

With connectivity group, Is there a button on the steering wheel you could hold for a second or two, that acts like the center button on the iPhone that could activate Siri, for example to tell her to play songs by band XYZ?

Rubicons are on restriction until allocation opens on the 12th. I have not heard of any supplier issues. I'm guessing the restriction is due to the factory being at 100% capacity. Almost all wrangler models have been on restriction the last couple of weeks due to factory capacity. They can only build so many wranglers in a month.

I just ordered a Billet Silver JKUR with leather interior on Wed. The salesman had mentioned before I ordered that it would be on restriction until the 12th due to the leather option, but nothing else. Is it possible that my order will get pushed off another month because of the previous Billet/Rubicon orders?

Thanks

You guys have been sooooo helpful as I try to decide exactly what I want to order in a new JKU !! Every one decision I make, thanks to the info I read here, I run into two more to make! Sahara or Rubicon? Billet or True Blue? Gah! Order a 2013 or find a '12 with the Alititude? Decisions, decisions!! Thanks y'all!

Anyone have any recommendations for a dealer in the Memphis - TN/Arkansas/Mississippi area? I wouldn't mind a bit of a drive to save a bit

If there was such a button, on your iPhone 4, instead of Siri, you would hear two beeps and could say call Kevin, home (assuming you had a Kevin in your contacts, with a Phone number in the home location)

I went with a Rubi and never regretted it. You can to so much more with very little effort. I also say silver it hides scratched more and looks better dirty.

I have the base system with the connectivity kit, but I have to say I'm not terribly impressed with it. I use an iPhone, and have it paired with the system. If I have it plugged in with USB, then it will only play music through the built-in music app. I personally use the Rdio streaming service. I can make it play music through Rdio, but as soon as the song ends, the radio forces the phone into the iPod mode again, and quits Rdio. The only way I can get my music to play correctly is to use blutooth streaming.

The problem with bluetooth streaming is that there are audio glitches, skips, and pauses. It also takes about 30 seconds to get into a working mode after I turn on the power. And another strange thing is that it is impossible to do bluetooth streaming when the phone is plugged into usb (like when I need to charge it).

I've also had problems dealing with phone calls. UConnect really wants to take over the phone no matter what. When I make or receive a call, my phone displays an option where I can use the phone instead of bluetooth. If I select that option, then UConnect takes charge again, and switches it right back. I have to fight with it several times until it finally gives up and lets me use my phone without it.

I really hope there's going to be some firmware updates in the future or some kind of personalization settings where I can turn some of the features on or off.

What kind of Audio glitches? I plan to use Spotify, and Bluetooth exclusively. This is the first I have heard of glitches. Bummer.
