Thanks for your advice, but I'll think about whatever I want, dude.
Dealers pay interest on all the cars they have on the lot. The longer a vehicle sits on a lot the less they make when they sell it. So dealers have to balance out how many units they order and what they option the vehicles like.

So for example a JK 2 door Rubicon with a 6 speed may be hard to come by because most regular people want a 4 door with an automatic.

The dealers actually get floor plans from the manufacturer that suggest ratios of what types of vehicles to order, based on what most people buy.

The whole deal is a big game of statistics and risk. Many dealers didn't order a huge amount for the 2012 year because of the economy and now a lot of small dealers are rushing around and dealer locating and swaping cars.

Hope this helps you understand, sorry for the off topic post.

Ohh and what Pat said about dealers is true. Find a good local dealer, understand if you have a warranty issue and you go to a dealer you didn't buy your vehicle from and start raising heck because your a/c went out, those service people may be a bit resentful.

Buying your vehicle from a reputable local dealer is worth a few extra bucks if you want a great relationship. The more often you go to that dealer and the nicer you are the better you will be received. Sticking with the same sales person is also to your benefit. If you shop mulitiple sales people, you start looking like a jerk.

Pick a salesperson that seems to be upstanding, if you find them abrasive say you just want to look. You should be able to find someone that puts you at ease and that you feel comfortable with. Once you do, deal only with that person. Don't switch up sales people.

Do you have any insight on military sales? I purchased my Jeep while in Okinawa and will be picking it up at a dealership just outside St Louis.

I didn't really look into the dealership, I figured it was just a holding spot. If I had warranty issues, can't I take it into whatever dealership I so please?
You sure can!

You can go any where with your Jeep. Just remember to be friendly and nice if you go some place else. Especially in the South, honey attracts more bees.

No I think you were correct, it is the bright silver. Originally billet was going to be delayed and bright silver carried over, but that changed and billet was bumped up. Your photoshop job is really close. Just look at the swatch and some 2011 Chargers and 300s that used the same paint. It's way darker than post #590 shows. Thanks, your picture helped me make my decision to order Dozer for 2013 before it goes away!!

All,

I've placed a link to the beta version of my 2013 Wrangler Pricing Spreadsheet below. This spreadsheet will allow you to easily customize all versions of the 2013 Wrangler and Unlimited and see the invoice and MSRP prices for each with options.

You will need Microsoft Excel to open and use it. Right now, only the first four sheets are working. They are the sheets for 2 door Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon. The fourth sheet summarizes your results from the other sheets to allow for easy comparison.

Let me know if I have made any mistakes. Once I have the answers to the questions I posted earlier in this thread, I will make it work for the 2 door Sport S and for all of the Unlimited models. Hopefully, you will find this to be a very useful tool.

Follow the link below. After you click the link, click "file" and then click "download".

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0ys...OUk/edit?pli=1

Enjoy,
Ron

I'm about ready to order. Any advice on shopping for quotes? Should I just send emails to the appropriate dealerships with my options list and ask for their best price?

Nice work! I can see two things.... 1) you do not have the Auto tranny listed 2) the connectivity group is only 142 invoice 160 MSRP IF you have the 730N audio system selected. I am sure this will help many out including me.

Thanks for the spreadsheet. This tool is going to be very helpful in building out a 2013 jeep. Please let us know when you get the unlimited information in there. Thanks again.

Nice...
I have a similar spreadsheet on my laptop that I set up last year. When I was shopping for Wranglers and for my lady's Rav4, I kept my laptop with me and was able to adjust prices and options on the fly. I had the numbers matched up down to the penny before she signed the papers on Rav4.

I've been slowly updating my spreadsheet for the 2013 Wrangler options as well. MSRP, invoice, % below invoices, tax, title, licence, trade-in adjustment...all of that stuff. It makes number crunching easy, and takes the confusion out of shell games with trade-ins (which several dealers tried to play).

8-Speed Auto for the '13s?

@Milous and @Pat...

Just saw the thread discussing 8-speed autos in 2013 and this article:Chrysler Introduces the 8 and 9-Speed Transmissions by 2013

It was a little difficult to tell in the article but it clearly says they are going into production and the wrangler is one of the vehicles getting the upgrade. Does that mean we will see 8-speed autos available for the 2013 Wrangler line??

Definitely not. Domestic production of the 8-speed will not begin until near the end of the year. After that it will take awhile to ramp up production. All of the initial units will be going into vehicles that already have it (300/Charger) and then allocated for the 2013 Ram and 2014 Grand Cherokee (the 2014 GC launches early so it will be taking a lot of the 8-sp capacity). It may not make it into the Wrangler until the generation changeover, I'd have to check into that.

After searching for 4 months for the perfect 2012 I gave up and decided to wait for the 2013. I am hoping to get just what I want by means of ordering a 2013 and am not sure how this process works.

I know the Commando Green is to be a later in the year color and this is the color I like most. Can I order a 2013 in this color before it is available and simply wait the extra time?

I have an appt. with a dealer tomorrow and have not discussed this process so I was hoping to get a little information before I arrived. How is a trade in handled when you will not be actually buying for several months? I have a 4x4 Tacoma (2009) with under 55k and would probably have over 60k at the time of actual trade.

I was hoping to get a value on my trade tomorrow however just realized that when the ordered Jeep arrives the dealer could suddenly try to low ball my trade in. I have paid extra with each payment and when looking for my 2012 I was quoted between 3500 and 4000 more than I owed.

So basically does a dealer usually figure a trade in at time of order of time of the actual deal? Also can I order special late colors now or do I have to wait?

I had much trouble finding a Rubicon with leather, manual, and saddle interior however I am actually happy that I was not able to do so. That green looks so very nice and with a black hard top, tan leather interior, and black wheels.....this should be a beauty.

But from what I have read here, some of the folks are taking the info from here and putting deals together and so far I haven't really heard anyone say they got the price they wanted but still had a horrible experience. As I have already said here in numerous other threads, price isn't everything. It's 80-90% of it, the other 10-20% is making sure you buy from a dealer that is going to take care of you after that sale. You want a dealer that's in it with you for the long haul. All I can say is while researching the product and price, spend 15 minutes and research the dealership. Go to the online review sites, the BBB, and make sure you are spending your money in the right place. Anyone can sell you a Jeep, it comes down to which place is going to give you the best customer service years down the road.
Agreed on the post purchase relationship! I'm having an issue with my Infiniti dealer regarding a warranty issue. I've always serviced the truck with them and they're not working to get Infiniti to pay for a $500 power window motor when the truck was only 2 months out of warranty. We are still well under the 60K mileage warranty but 2 months out of the 4 year part. This is souring me on the dealership as a whole and, depending upon if they step up or not, will influence future purchases. Since I'm only 36, that's a whole lotta purchases!

You are so right sir, I wrote a dealer in Orange County and told them I know exactly what I wanted and wasn't getting the answers I wanted from the deployed military car sales people. I sent them the build sheet I got from Deployed car sales and said In big bold cap letters I am currently deployed, I just need to speak with a dealer and possibly place an order for a built jeep. The first response I got back was the typical "come on down so we can get you in the jeep of your dreams". I wrote him and his boss a letter saying had they just gave me information they would have had a customer, instead they went cheesy car sales route and Lost a guaranteed sale of a brand new jeep. Im still not getting all the answers I want from the military car sales but between this information and what i have gotten from them I know what I am getting. Thanks Pat, someone get that man a beer! This forum is great because of people like you and Milous, Hope i spelled that right.

Hi I am from upstate New York. I could not find any new 2012 6 speed Rubicon's. The sales person kept trying to sell he other Jeep Wranglers?
Automatics when I stated if I paying $40,0000 plus I want to pick my color! Then she asked how much I am putting down and I told her depending on the deal maybe 28,000 cash. Well the manager came in and asked what can we do for you! I said if you had a Rubicon six speed we would be dealing. Well they went on line and said they didn't see any 2013 coming in. They didn't inform me that I could of ordered one. Chrysler is in production making the 2013? News flash I been burned more than once and that's it!

To update you I had a 350Z and a 1997 GEO Tracker for my winter rat 2 door 4 wheel drive. This is where I love 4 wheeling. I want to hit the trails.
I need some direction the Rubicon is for off road mainly? The dealer told me that? I go MTB and this would be fun!
I sold the z in 2008 at that time i was paying 260 bi-weekly and ins gas and my tracker. My tracker was more fun than the Z!

I been saving my #<>~<~}||~~ off to by a new ride. I was told by a person in the business that if I order a new Jeep and cut some of the add ons.
If I back out they count that is there stock and would sell quick do to a lower price. Also I have a relative that worked at Chrysler 30 years and when I get my order number he will call for the discount. Thanks for all your help! I am going crazy about the colors coming in late August ,September.

It will all work out.

Mark

I'm not so sure it's critical to buy a Wrangler where you're going to have it serviced. I've had my '08 for over four years and haven't had a single issue that required dealer service.

Maybe a little feedback here regarding past ownership and service experience would help new buyers. Maybe a separate thread for that would be better. Maybe there already is one, I haven't checked.

There are a bunch of good, experienced, fair, and yes honest dealers around like Pat who will give you an excellent price. Just keep in mind that they have families to feed, too! A note about doing your deal.......try not to beat the dealer up too much and expect cooperation after the sale.....they're like elephants and never forget.

A dealer recommendation here in Colorado would be Pollard Jeep in Boulder. Straight up guys and only sell Jeeps.

It's amazing to have guys like Milous and Pat here.

This worked for us until they got the second sale! Two brand new Jeeps in less than 8 months from the same sales person, and we got shoved to the side, ignored, and lied to on both the sales and service side. It was actually very disappointing. We "thought" that we had been valued and were respected. Now, we tell everyone we can what happened to us and suggest the other place we go to now.

We found a new dealership, and they are taking excellent care of us! Although, Pat, we will be visiting you if this Commando Green pans out like it just might!

Buying your vehicle from a reputable local dealer is worth a few extra bucks if you want a great relationship. The more often you go to that dealer and the nicer you are the better you will be receed.

No more Pwr Conv. on base Sport?

Quick question for those of you "in the know": I just talked to my dealer about pricing out a 2013 JKU order, and he told me that (as of now) the power convenience group is not available for the base model Sport- only as part of the S package. He's a straight shooter so I don't doubt that this is the case, but do you guys think this is just a result of the early ordering process, or will power windows/locks no longer be an option for the base Sport?

He's a straight shooter so I don't doubt that this is the case, but do you guys think this is just a result of the early ordering process, or will power windows/locks no longer be an option for the base Sport?
According to my information, which is NOT the very latest, POWER CONVENIENCE GROUP (AJP) can not be ordered on 2013 Sport base without the Sport S package. The same was the case in 2012.

Great tool! Anxiously waiting for the Unlimited Sahara. The only thing I see that's missing is the auto & leather seats.

This is more of Jeep's funny policies.
The power convenience package is not available on the base sport....for the 2-door model.

However, it was available on the base sport for the 4 door model. (So I'm assuming it still is)
You can see it on the "Build your own" site here.
Jeep - Build & Price - Options

Page 19 of this thread is where Pat listed the pricing, but I'm thinking the base sport pricing shown was for the 2 door only, because I don't see an option for Air Conditioning, nor a max tow. (But the Alpine/Infinity system might be new to the 2-door for 2013). AC is standard on the 4-door.

Hopefully this can get cleared up.

------------
On a side note, is there anyway to get the MSRP/Invoice pricing info on page 1?
------------
On the other side note.... Why are side air-bags not available on the base sport?
That is a very unfair pricing practice IMO.
