The whole building certain colors by certain date ranges during the production year is BS.

All colors should be available anytime during the year. After all, they're in the business to sell vehicles, and as many as possible. This has to be a turn-off to some, including myself.

Maddening.

Dual Top includes Premium Soft Top?

Been a lurker here for a long time interested in purchasing a 2013 Rubi; have appreciated the great info in this forum. I live overseas (foreign service in the Middle East), but coming home very soon, so trying to order now. Northern Virginia dealer is stating that invoice for the AEM dual-top group is $1856, but states that he is cannot confirm for me that this includes the MX5 premium soft-top. I want written confirmation from him of all details (have to do it by email given my locatin) before pulling the trigger (he wants a 1k deposit), and this is the last detail holding me up. Everything I've read on this thread indicates to me the premium soft top should be included at that invoice price. Anyone know why the dealer can't confirm this, or what I can suggest so he can?

I've been reading through all the pages thus far and tried to work through some of the percentages about under invoice so thought I would post my current deal and see how good a deal it ends up being. I think it's good, but as a matter of fact, I work for an airline and can fly to pick up my best deal but that being said, I've ended up working with a dealer I've dealt with before and have been happy, they just happen to have the best deal I can found.

2013 Unlimited Sahara
Auto trans
Max tow
Leather
Dual top
430n
Connectivity Group
Heated seats
Air
Remote start

Total w/ 6% FL tax and tag/title/dealer fee out the door is $38165

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

On my invoice the AEM Dual Top is listed as one line item ($1500 invoice) and the MX5 Premium Soft Top is listed as another ($356), totaling to $1856 invoice. There was quite a bit of confusion at my dealer when ordering if the separate line items were correct or not, and I suspect this might be happening at your dealer as well, which may be why he is leery of committing to it.

You could just make it a stipulation in your agreement. Nothing wrong with saying that your $1000 deposit is contingent upon receiving the vehicle at the quoted price, including a premium soft-top. If it turns out that it doesn't come with the premium top, the dealer would either refund you, eat the price difference between the soft and premium soft, or order you a premium soft. Of course, the dealer is free not to agree to a stipulation like this, but no harm in trying- just email him and explain that you'd like to come to an agreement on the sale but since you're unable to access all the information you'd like, given your placement, you can only agree to purchase from him if he agrees to the stipulation. If he refuses, you'll just be right back in the same position you are now- no big deal.

Half doors

Does anyone know if the interior panels of the half doors have been updated for 2013? I hear the current ones don't match.

Did my best to mock up a Dune Unlimited Rubi. Think I may be waiting even longer for my jeep purchase now. Added Commando also.

Yeah, already tried that with him; he says he can't/won't confirm it to me until Jeep confirms it to him.

Here's his explanation, "I have not been able to confirm if the MX5 soft top is a part of the Dual Top Group. Even after contacting Jeep directly, they stated that since the production will not begin until the beginning of July, that they will not be able to disclose package details until then. According to some of the Jeep forums, they seem to think that the Dual Top Group does include the MX5. I just can not verify those claims as of yet."

Well, asking for a stipulation isn't the same as asking for a confirmation. But if he's unwilling to do the deal on the condition that it's the premium top, then I guess you could just try to find someone who is.

Edit: or you could just order your Jeep with a premium soft top and then also order a hard top. From what I saw on this very thread, it seems like it should be the same price- i.e. the dual top group offers no savings over just buying a hardtop for your softop Jeep.

I LOVE Commando

Thanks Jacob101-

I always wanted Rescue Green and hoped they would bring it back in '13. But since you mocked up that JKUR, I think I like the Commando better.

Gotta wait to see it in person. If I don't like it in person, I'll be going after True Blue.

Now where's that spreadsheet so I can build my JKU in Excel?

I am also interested in the true blue. It looks sort of navy blue, right? I was sure I wanted black, but now I'm liking the idea of dark blue...

If there are other Chrysler products in a paint called "true blue," it must be the same paint, right? Why would they needlessly confuse themselves by naming two different shades of blue the same thing? Or am I being way too optimistic?

edit: Also, true blue isn't late availability, as far as everyone knows, right?

I am guessing this has to do with optimizing the production runs in order to keep the production time as short as possible and the prices also lower than they would be if they would produce each vehicle in a different color. I used to optimize production lines for a living, and that is the way I would do it to keep the production cost as low as possible.

Both of those colors look amazing. Would also appreciate any more photoshops of the new colors.

You can go see True Blue on the Jeep lot right now. Several Jeeps come in that color. IMO it is a flat Navy Blue with just a hint of purple in certain light (when dirty). I think it lacks metal flake to make it pop.

Funny how the same vehicle in the same color at the same angle looks so different.

Guys,

I have finished my spreadsheet! I have PM'd it to Milous for his review before I post it. I still need the following info:

1. For the "DGJ Automatic Transmission" option with an MSRP of 1,125. What is the invoice price?

2. I need to know the invoice price of the 2 door Sport S. (Telling me the invoice price for 23/24 S package for the 2 door Sport S will work as well. Its MSRP is 2,200.)

3. I need to know the invoice price of the 4 door Sport S. (Telling me the invoice price for 23/24 S package for the 4 door Sport S will work as well. Its MSRP is 2,400.)

I will review this thread to see if I have missed it. This took more work than I thought but it is worth it. I added the necessary formulas to calculate monthly payments. It really has me thinking about switching from the 2 door to the 4 door.

More than half of their colors right now lack metal flake to make it pop. I guess that's why people like the neon colors.

Auto invoice is $1,001

2 Door S package invoice, $1,996
4 Door S package invoice - $2,138

The S packages should be within a dollar or so. I can't remember if I got those from page 17, or if I calculated them.

Thanks. More for me to ponder.

I wish you were at my local dealer so I could buy from you. You have gone above and beyond to provide information in this thread and it's very much appreciated.

I get your frustration though, it is a bif difference.

I personally have had no issues with my 730N and I would go that route again over the 430, but that's just my opinion. I like the whole unit better. I don't think the 430 does any better of a job at finding locations then the 730. The only difference I have found is sometimes I have to input the zip code first, then the street address, especially in chicago and the dc area.

Alternatively, I have a Garmin GPS and it is fairly accurate in my area. I guess it depends where you are at.

Anyway, I switched radios this time...as soon as I get my new Jeep, I will let you know how they compare.
