So can Milous or Pat confirm whether or not they might start building prior to July 23rd and it might be possible to get our 2013's end of July or early August?

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. While that would suck, I'm not sweating that too much bc it'll be under warranty. My biggest concern (as petty as it may be) is that this will be my first new vehicle and I want all the miles to myself!

Whoa, that looks pretty freaking sweet. Wow, the Nav package would become must have. This guy loves Pandora. Surely this would not be added to the 13's would it? I assume we are seeing 14 prototype stuff aren't we?

I saw it on another forum and was hoping Milous or Pat could confirm/deny. Everyone seemed pretty upset about the digital. It looks awesome, but would suck if there was a glitch in programming...

Looks pretty fake to me. Especially the first picture. The three square boxes inside the bean-shaped instrument panel cluster is just terrible design, even for an "American" automobile company... Looks like photoshop from somebody's mom's basement.

Oh, it is a drawing no doubt. That instrumentation panel does not exist yet. The question is it a drawing from a jeep design team or from some kids basement. I can see how jeep purists would be disgusted with all that high tech stuff, but I personally would love it.

The instruments and final seat design seem to remain in mystery

Howdy from Toledo, the Home of the Wrangler – new to the forum and new to the wonderful world of Jeeps. This is such a great place!!

I am going to order a 2013 Unlimited as soon as Commando green is available. From earlier posts it appears that this color will go into production 4 Sep. Can someone help me with an estimate when it will be available for the dealer to order? I want to get it as soon as possible and even though the salesman says he will check the system weekly (or was that weakly??) I’m wondering if there is a hard date or a rule of thumb; like two weeks prior to production availability.

Thanks for your patient responses and assistance……………………………………………

I would hate it....and I'm not a Jeep purist. I would just get the feeling that a digital display would not fare well in dirt/dust/rain/extreme exposure to sun.

I can't see that being the big change.

yeah thats sort of what i was saying- don't think it's from a jeep design team because they would have made those three boxes fit better into the "bezel" or whatever you want to call it. Nobody who studied any kind of design would put those boxes in there like that. So my vote is jimmy in mom's basement. Could be wrong though!

I'm no jeep purist, and don't even have too much of a problem with digital gauges, but that design just looks like it jumped out of a gateway desktop in 1996.

Interesting video and article. The article says they are trying to sell their video/nav system to car manufacturers as an off the shelf already made and ready to go solution. Did Jeep perhaps buy into this idea? If not, these guys are still ahead of the game and I predict some car company will be buying it. I was certainly wrong when I said that those pictures were only drawings. These guys have already made this a reality.

I would hate to be caught in a random rain storm with the top off and all those electronics under the dash potentially getting wet and ruined. I know there are some people who would like this, but it is a Jeep first and foremost. I just see this as a contradiction to its reliability as an off road vehicle.

Maybe on the 14's?

"QNX has built a series of cars to demonstrate its software expertise, showing automakers the possibilities inherent in its platform. However, given the sometimes glacial pace of automotive development, don't expect to see all the features shown in this Jeep Wrangler at a dealership any time soon."

Give the dealer written instructions that he is not to allow anyone other than the "PDI" technician to drive your Wrangler. Especially emphasize no customer of saleman test drives! Let them know that you will not accept the Jeep if it has been driven excessively.

Your Wangler should have from 3 to 15 miles on the odometer when you pick it up. It will have a few miles on it from jockeying around at the assembly plant and the rail yard when it comes off the car carrier at your dealer. Deal prep (PDI) test drive sould account for another 5 to 10 or so.

The Jeep has been sold to you, NOBODY but you and the tech should be driving it without your permission!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Thing is I ordered through ENCS and the vehicle is being delivered to the nearest dealership, so they don't really have a vested interest in whether I buy it or not lol. I do plan on spending a small chunk of change in accessories the day I pick up (door sills, floor mats, ipod cord). I'll send them an email letting them know and hopefully that will keep their paws off of it.

Outstanding picture of the dark saddle cloth interior. It cured the confusion started by only seeing cloth swatches. Even my salesman did not know how the inside looked in cloth. Many thanks!!

whats the big news?

They did announce a diesel in the 2014 Grand cherokee with an 8sp tranny; the 2013 year will be a short run. Pat did say it wasnt a diesel..but this looks good that the diesel will make it to the wrangler..

I would like to think any dealer would respect a customers wish that nobody uses their to-be-delivered vehicle on test drives. It should go without saying that a spoken for vehicle is off limits, but a nicely worded email or phone call should seal that up for you.

I've thought I had been through every post on this thread. What post # did you see pics of the new dark saddle cloth seats?

Interesting design but I elect not to drink the Kool-Aid. I’m sure others noted that the provided [2013_Wrangler_Standard_Equipment] PDF lists “100 MPH PRIMARY SPEEDOMETER (JCD)” for a standard option. The eddy-current / digital dial depicted is a 0-140 mph speedometer.

And, the right-side panel gauge looks like a “Motel 6” sign. If this instrumentation panel is for real and goes to production, no doubt the engineers were watching too many "Jetsons" reruns...

Unlikely for your build to start ahead of 7/23 ("Job1"), although they do sometimes run a few ahead of the "Job1" date. I would plan on a delivery sometime in August.

I ordered on June 6th. Couldn't mine be ready as quick as keschetes? Also if they do start the builds on the 23rd can they actually build the first batch in a week? How fast can a jeep be built?
