Anyone know if the 18" 7-spoke polished wheels are available as an option on the '13 Sahara?

I noticed that Front Seat Mounted Side Air bags were not listed as an option in the build sheet. Are they no longer an option, or are they standard equipment?

I don't know if they're still available, but I'm sure they're not standard. They're "supplemental!"

Thanks. Like I said I still want the Jeep. I don't think I'm going to be paying 65K for an LR4. IDK what I was thinking.

Anyway, found a 2012 JK on a lot. It's got the Katzkin leather interior. It's not a Rubicon but it may do. I'm gonna take a look at it tomorrow.

Question is: Are we still having problems with the Pentastar Ticking issue I've been hearing about. Should I be concerned about it on a 2012 model and maybe just order a 2013 or has it been fixed on late production 2012's?

Chrysler says they have a fix for it but from what I have been reading they don't seem to be saying when it will be implemented?

They are a $495 option, available on all models starting with the Sport "S" and Sport "S" Unlimited. (not available on base Sport/Sport U models).

The wheels in the first pic are pretty ugly. Not sure where they're from.

They are in the business to sell vehicles, and as many as possible. You can say what you want about exclusivity or resale, but as a potential buyer I find it irritating (not even factoring in the reality that all US citizens are shareholders, another topic altogether).

Well it could be worse . They could not post what colors will be coming down the pipeline, and right after you purchase a white one, billet rolls in a week later and then you are even more upset because you would have waited for it had you known...

The biggest issue I have right now is waiting for the anniversary edition Rubicon or purchasing the Commando color when available. It is possible that if I wait for the Rubicon and do not like it then the Commando color will no longer be available if they limit this color like so many others.

We know nothing about the anniversary Rubicon and while I hope it would be something incredible it may simply be a few appearance items added. Maybe we will get more info on the Rubicon before they begin to offer the newer colors. If not then I do not plan to take a chance and will order the Commando green as soon as it is available.

I'd be surprised if the Anniversary Rubicon is significantly more than the typical special edition trim upgrade....

How are US citizens shareholders? Last time I checked they paid back the loans....early!

That is the broad appeal of Wrangler, some people think Green should be there every year, some people think yellow should be there every year, some people think a particular shade of blue should be there every year.
Personally I think it adds to to the mystique of the vehicle, you get some pretty unique combinations and each makes it their own.

Seems like they would do much better if they simply let all colors run the entire year.....I would have already have bought one in 2012 if the Tan was still around.
Simply put they can't offer all colors run the entire year. There aren't too many plants as flexible as Jeep's Toledo plant, by changing colors as often as they do, that's more flexible than most. By not changing colors all at one time they ensure a better quality product as far as paint goes. By staggering them they are capturing both the must have customers and fence post sitters at one time. By your analogy, If they would have cut off Sahara Tan it would have been at the end of 2011 Model Year, so it would have never been available for you on a 2012 anyways.

True, now that I look into it, I stand corrected. Good for them (and us).

That said, it doesn't do a thing for my outlook on certain color availability.

I ordered them. I don't know how valuable/effective they are, but the wife told me to add them so I did.

I asked the same question a month ago.
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/sup...em-164387.html

And waited to order a 2013 to get them. I think for only $500 it's inviting bad t-bone type karma to not order them - and the only 2012's I could find with them were loaded out $40k plus Rubis.

Same here. They ended up being a main part of the reason I ordered a 2013 instead of buying a '12 off the lot. I wanted a sport s unlimited with only a few extras, and I couldn't track down a dealer-ordered wrangler with the airbags that isn't a sahara or rubicon or pushing the $35k+ range.

I added the side airbag option. I figured if I buy a loaded rubicon and put in all the money in mods I am considering that I ought to suck it up and pay for the extra safety the supplemenatl airbags might provide. If you factor the cost over the life of the vehicle it's worth it IMO.

Thanks that seems to answer my question (I think I will add them to my order)

I'm in the same boat. I read up on it, and the side crash ratings are pretty bad without it. $500 to add a star to a crash rating?...sure..ok. I'm surprised they're not standard.

This was a factor for me as well in going with factory order - I found plenty (ok, some) of 2012s on dealer lots that I'd be happy with... with the exception of this one option. When I asked my dealer about it ... "Nobody wants them because they don't do any good with the doors off", which to me is a silly reason. I see Wranglers on the road all the time. Less than 5% (wild guess) have doors off. Since I will drive doors-on most of the time and doors-off only once in a while - I'd far prefer to have the bags installed from the beginning.

At approximately 1% of the cost of the Jeep, it isn't a big factor in the overall price, and I can't think of any negatives to them being there (unlike other safety features which do come with compromises at all times, even when not in use).
