That only applies to the base model Sport. The Sport S has always included AC (unless that's changing).

Very interesting....
Only 7% of 2 doors, and 4% of 4 door are being ordered as manuals (if I read that correctly).

Pat - that looks to me like it effectively says "we have very little spare Manual transmission capacity at current build levels, so please direct buys to buy Automatic instead" - do you have access to any info about what the overall production of Manual/Automatic is? Any time I look on a lot, there are very few manuals vs automatic available.

I wonder how much of the 'everyone wants to buy automatic' is 'we mostly make automatics, so automatics sell more units' vs. 'people prefer to buy automatic'. And if I'm pessimistic 'Chrysler gets higher profit on each automatic sold'. Perhaps a telling point would be 'at the end of the year when next MY comes out, which are the last units from the prior year that are least desirable'. Obviously from Chrysler's point, they would like to sell the last 2012 at each dealer the day before the 2013s start rolling off the transport - i.e. no unsold inventory and no missed chances to make an impulse sale.

I already ordered mine in Manual, and I'm on D1 status, so it isn't personally important - with the one exception that I really want Wranglers to continue to be produced in Manual since I personally don't like driving Automatic.

All I have heard is the manual trans "take rate" is very low, due to that you will see more autos. Obviously if you order a manual it will get built.

I was also told that wrangler inventory will be lower this year even with record sales.

Makes sense. My dealer told me that they "can't give away a manual" and therefore will not order any more of them. I got my '12 6-speed from a dealer 100 miles away, and they had it sitting on the lot for 2 months and were happy to dealer trade it so I could get it. Soon, automatics will be the only option.

They can give one away to me!

"automatics will be the only option"... that's exactly what I dread.

Pat or Milous...or anyone that may know...
Ordered two weeks ago...or so i thought...dealer told me he would order my jeep substituting black leather for tan, then would change it once saddle became available. Found out Saturday that he never ordered it. The build sheet was never submitted. Now he is telling me that I can still have my jeep in the same time b/c he submitted it with Scheduling Priority : 1 which will have it here in 4 to 6 weeks instead of 6-8. How can this be if builds aren't scheduled to start till August 20th for July allocations...assuming first post in this thread dates are still accurate? Is this true?

I also put in an order with Black leather because my dealer thought he would be able to get it changed to Dark Saddle. The order did get processed (I got a VON that I can see in VOTS and got an email from Jeep with the partial VIN), but he wasn't able to change that order because of the Dark Saddle restriction and apparently once an order goes into D1 status changes aren't allowed anymore. So that Jeep is locked with Black leather interior (not good in Phoenix IMHO). That original order is expected to ship on 7/29.

This morning, he was able to put in an order that's almost identical, just changing the interior to Dark Saddle leather. He emailed the POC, so I have a VON for the new order, but don't expect to see it in VOTS for about a week (based on how long it took for my original order to show up). It may take a couple weeks longer, but I'm hoping for a ship date in the mid August time (fingers crossed).

Pat

My dealer is telling me that my deep cherry red with dark saddle interior is not available for ordering until 7-29. I questioned them and told them I'd believed that it should have available today. They are still telling me the end of July.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks

It officially became available today, however I actually placed an order last Friday that was accepted.

Where did you get that 7/25 date from, and when did you place your order? I placed on on 6/18. Last email I received from Jeep was on the 25th. It said that it was "scheduled for production" and that's it. I contacted my salesman today, and he says, "That is what I'm seeing still as well." Granted, if the 2013's won't start production until the 23rd, I still have 2 weeks to wait (patiently - HAH). But in this grueling waiting period, it'd be nice to know how others are getting rough ETA's from.

Just something to think about got for the ones that ordered in June and already have ship dates.

Let's say the factory builds 300 wranglers per day. In the first week of production that would be 1500 or more wranglers. It is well known that the factory holds the very first ones for inspection longer before being released. I would expect the estimated ship date and the actual ship date to vary due to the inspection process.
Also the very first wranglers built get put in the very back of the holding lot when they are released to be shipped. So if the factory holds the first 10 days of production that would be roughly 3000 wranglers that are waiting to get on a truck. Meanwhile the factory is still producing 300 or so wranglers a day and burying the first 3000 built on the lot. I'm guessing that the truckers are going to take the jeeps in the front not the back and it will take time to get enough trucks to catch up on all of the wranglers waiting to be shipped.
My point, your wranglers might ship on the estimated date but if it's anything like last year you might be waiting a few more weeks. Until last year I didn't quite know how ship dates were established. It's all software, the factory says " we have the parts to build it, the paint and the capacity" so the software does its thing and gives estimated production dates and shipping dates. What the software doesn't take into consideration is inspection time, transport issues and the horrible way Jeep loads a lot full of freshly built wranglers. Maybe it will be different this year and I hope it is, but history well we all know how that works

Wait a tick. Basil, if I travel back to 1969 and I was frozen in 1967, presumeably, I could go back and visit my frozen self. But, if I'm still frozen in 1967, how could I have been unthawed in the '90s and traveled back to...

Oh no Ive gone cross eyed

I ordered mine on June 6th and the dealer shows a ship date of July 30th. I hope mine isn't buried in the back of the lot waiting for transport...

Pat's comment about Wrangler's getting buried in the lot got me wondering - so I pulled up the factory on Google maps Google Maps and I have to say they have room for quite a lot of trucks on the lot. It's pretty obvious which spaces are for employee parking - they have the normal 'two cars deep' between lanes... the storage spaces are a long stack of vehicles at a time, with the exception of the tractor trailer loading areas which are slanted - I count 17 of those.

If you zoom in a bit, it's obvious which vehicles are Wranglers - when they are side by side it's obvious which are the 2dr and which are 4dr. Even the body color hard top ones are distinct from above compared to other Jeeps - look how straight the windsheid is compared to the others. It's also interesting to note that Chrysler must use these lots for staging of other vehicles to ship in addition to Jeeps - I see minivans, sedans, pickups in the staging lanes.

Having said all that, it's interesting to see for me, but I'm not sure I can puzzle out much more useful info from these views.
