Read the fine print if you have it at home, it's only for 2012 model year vehicles. The only 2013 is the Dodge Dart. They might have their own loyalty discount they are doing as a dealer, either way if you get it that's great.

The pricing in spreadsheet are the correct prices. They came from an impeccable source.

Are you surprised your dealer is yanking you chain?

If you want a good solution to the usual dealer runaround, join Tread Lightly (Tread Lightly - Individual Memberships) and then get a Chrysler Affiliates Rewards control number (https://www.chrysleraffiliates.com/l...tPricingLayout).

If your dealer participates in the Affiliates program (almost all do - if they don't - run) then he must show you the "Chrysler Group LLC Invoice" which lists invoice prices for any vehicle and its options, and the highest price they are allowed to charge under the program, 1% under invoice + a $75 fee, listed as PP on the invoice.

Is the Tread Lightly program valid in Canada? Website says US dealerships, but sometimes Canada is just forgotten on these things, and I am hoping it is an oversight....

The factory runs on a month to month allocation. Basically all it means is the factory has already scheduled 100% of manual transmissions for that given month. Manual transmissions will be available to order again next month. If I was you I would be in the dealership on the 7th of next month. Right now that's when allocation opens again.

The factory is at full capacity and can only build so many wranglers. The other reason manual transmissions are on restriction is due to the low percentage the factory builds. I was told the "take rate" on manual was low last year and the factory has lowered the overall amount of manual transmissions it will build this year.

Thanks Bill :-). I was pretty sure the dealer was yanking my chain on the price but wanted to check before I call him on it.

I joined Tread Lightly the other day and the pricing this dealer gave me was supposed to apply the affiliate discount.

Bummed about the manual transmission delay, Chrysler is buying back my 2011 in the next week or so and I need to get my 2013 ordered ASAP.

I bought a 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited in April, and my new JKUR is being delivered Monday.

Does these vehicles apply to the $500 coupon? If so, how do I get it???

Thanks

I got a card in the mail, and the sales person also looked in his computer to see that I qualified for the discount. So ask your sales person maybe?

For all of you who got the call or email about leather being delayed until August 20th, did you order JK or a JK Unlimited????

I am wondering if this makes a difference.

I put my order in 2 weeks ago for a manual sport. I got an email last week saying thank you for the order and the parts have been ordered and scheduled for production. Does this mean I'm okay? Is this known as D1 status?

If you go back and read this thread starting yesterday page 81, there are at least 3 people that I counted, 1 email and 2 calls that were all told by their dealer about an Aug 20th start date on all leather.

One guy even ordered saddle first and then ordered one with black leather and the dealer told him he could switch to cloth or wait...

I am wondering if they are all JK Unlimited. The backseat of the Unlimited is different from the 2dr.

With the Affiliate Rewards program, they can charge DOC fees (documentation fees) IF they charge the same fee to all customers on all vehicle sales, or if State law sets the fee. If the paperwork fee is the only fee they are charging for doing the paperwork to deliver and register your Jeep, and it meets the above criteria, they can charge it. DOC fees vary widely form state to state. In CA, it is limited to $55. In Florida, it is MUCH higher, upward of a thousand dollars at some dealers. Check around your area and see what other dealers are charging and if your state regulates fees.

If you are suspicious, call the Affiliate hot line, (888) 444-4321, and ask questions. They will enforce the deal for you if the dealer tries any funny business.

EDIT: You can also cancel the deal if you haven't signed a contract yet.... Your deposit is almost certainly refundable, unless you signed something that says otherwise.

I was told by my dealer today that my saddle leather JK Unlimited order could be changed to cloth or it would sit and wait indefinitely when ever leather became available. I was told that my D1 order would regress to C status. I WAS offered the option of dealer installed Katzkin leather at the same price as the factory leather option.

Thanks Bill, I can get the deposit back, but hopefully I won't have to... I'm not sure how much longer I can take this wait... 5 weeks has felt like a year... I guess I'll just see if I can squeeze something else out of the dealer ... Or keep my fingers crossed on the Grad discount for 13

I had two things that were simply must have items that I was unable to find on a 2012. I decided to order a 2013 and get what I want and now I find the two things I had to have are not available for now.

I simply must have leather (dark saddle interior) and a 6 speed. Both are on hold for now and it really sounds like Jeep is trying hard to just stop making a manual.

I am beginning to wonder if within a few years everything will be automatic. Many dealers have advised me they had no plans to order any manuals nor did they have any in stock. This is why I got so frustrated and decided to wait and order for myself.....now I see I cant even do that for a manual.

So how does this work actually? Do I have to be the first in the door the day they say manuals are available again? What if they only take maybe two days of orders for manual versions.....is it possible to miss out again if they say the same thing next month?

I am waiting on Commando and if I do so it may very well work out I will have to order between a certain time span and during that time span what if manuals are still on hold. From what I can see manuals still do well here however I see that Jeep feels they do not sale....??

Jeep makes a limited number of manuals in each allocation period (as I understand this allocation periods are usually 1 month). Once they are all spoken for, you (your dealer really) can't order any more. Many dealers seem to feel that manual's don't sell, and Chrysler appears to be pushing dealers to "upsell" to automatic as well (I use quotes here, because it isn't an upsell for all buyers - for me, if it ain't automatic, I ain't buyin!)

And I am quite worried that you are correct - in a few years manual won't be an option at all. I've had plenty of people (friends, family, dealers) say things like "you can drive this automatic in manual mode, so it's the same"... which tells me personally that society at large doesn't actually get the point of manual.

Overall - order what you want, don't compromise. Remember, the more people that prefer manual but settle for automatic, the more this trend to automatic only will continue.

Btw - for those of you that prefer automatic - note that nowhere did I say auto was a bad personal choice or bad technically.

I agree and I am not saying automatic is a bad choice by any means. I will say I believe there is no such thing as an automatic you can drive like a manual.....auto makers can dress it up any way they want however it simply is not the same.

I was shocked to see an auto adds something like 1500 dollars to the cost of a new JK. I would much rather drive a manual and use the extra cash for mods. I did notice when shopping for my 2012 every dealer tried very hard to get me to settle for an automatic. I walked away from some good deals because of that and will wait as long as it takes to get a manual. I wonder why the auto costs 1500 more anyway and does the dealer somehow make more by pushing the autos on customers?

If I can not order one in time I will most likely find something else. Sadly even the Tacoma I have now I had to search long and hard for to find a 6 speed 4x4. If nothing else I will keep the Tacoma I have now as it is very nice and almost paid for. I really did want to try a Jeep and still will do so if I can get that manual in Commando.

I have yet to see a manual I did not like and have read many problems of autos (both with Jeep and others) I have a friend who has a 2012 auto and he says he hates it due to some type of overheating problem. Something about cruising along and going to limp mode with a fluid overheating light activating. I have not heard from him lately however I do know he solved much of the problem by adding a trans cooler device.

Seems like for 1500 dollars extra it would have that already however none the less I much prefer a manual. I am beginning to get a little frustrated thinking about it. I would hate to miss out however will walk away from this purchase if I can not get a manual with the color and options I want.

Is it somehow easier for the maker to build these with autos? Seems like I remember a time when I was young (long ago..hehe) that you could not find a Jeep with an auto trans.....and seriously why are they 1500 dollars more?

.
Yes, this is how it works. My husband tried last night to mock up a Rubicon and the allocation is used up even for Rubicons for this allocation period.

Robocop,
My advice, if you want to get a 6 speed and you want the saddle leather then you wait until the saddle is scheduled, which is supposed to be August 20th and then go in and order the 6 speed at the begining of the next allocation period past that date.

If you want the 6 speed, you are going to have to get one of the first orders of the allocation period. My other advice, get a good relationship going with the person who does the ordering for the dealership
So that when the allocation period opens you can go in and get exactly what you want.

My husband is a manager at the dealership, so I know the manager who does the ordering. So on June 5th, I went in and placed my order.

Rubicon JK 2 door
Deep Cherry Red
6 Speed
4.10 Gears
Tow Package
Black Leather Heated Seats
Power Conv Group
Connectivity Group
430 N Nav Radio

Just take a deep breath and relax, you CAN get exactly what you want.
I did this whole thing before in 2009 and 2006. In 2009 I ordered a Sahara 2dr, 6 speed, 3.73, power conv group, 730 N nav radio, tow package. and it took me 4 months to get it. In 2006 I ordered the SRT10 and that took about 3 months.

If you are patient it will come I know it is aggravating!!
