Just ordered a Sport S Unlimited!! So excited!!! Got it for under Tread Lightly, and got a very fair price on my trade-in too. Thank you, PAPA'S DODGE of New Britain, CT! I absolutely recommend this dealership to anyone in the market for a new wrangler.

So after putting my 2013 order on hold today to wait on Rock Lobster the inventory manager from the dealership called. He says Rock Lobster is listed as Late and Limited availability. His best guess is he won't be able to order one till January. The date I saw in this thread was start of production October 1, possible order earlier.

I would love to know how solid the Oct 1 date estimate is for Rock Lobster. Any info out there? Is he out of the loop or just trying to get me to stick with my current order?
Which would be enough for me to cancel my order and go somewhere else, even if the deal wasn't as good. Lying to me isn't a very good business model.

Oh, and again take this skeptically like always, but my salesman said that there are no more Crush Sahara's with painted hard tops left in AZ and if ya want a '13 in Crush, to order it now, he says his contact told him that they will only be painting Orange Crush into August.

I ordered a 2 door Sport S in Gecko on Friday June 9th. The dealer officially placed the order Monday the 11th. I got my VON that day. I have been checking on the Jeep site by entering my last name and VON. Nothing shows yet. Can anyone tell me when I will start to see some acknowledgement that the factory has the order. I understand that production doesn't start until July 23rd but I would still like to see that they at least have it in their system. It's going to be a long wait! Now I have to work on a good vanity plate for it.

Interesting. Do these normally go away at the beginning of model years?

Edit: Pat, I am reading a thread from last year where people were beating you up for saying that the rebates would disappear before September. People sure were mean to you!
You'll have to pm me the link, if wranglers were distressed inventory only then would I say you'll see the same incentives. But may was another record month so I doubt you'll see the incentives they have now. Just like usaa, this month wranglers and grand Cherokees don't qualify. It's anyone's guess, I don't have a crystal ball. I go by history and what has been done in the past.

Makes sense. Thanks!
I lost track of the thread, but last year some guy kept claiming that he had insider info from Chrysler that there would be a $1000 cash rebate for the 2012s as soon as they were released. You disagreed, and he and others didn't like your perspective. At one point the dude demanded an apology from you, if it turned out that you were wrong. As I understand it, you turned out being correct!

Very interesting...

After a ton of searching, I've located 3 possible 2012 Wranglers I would consider (all are a bit of a drive, but they all have the magic combination of 5 speed, LSD, Connect, Infinity, a black hardtop, and 2 even have the mythical 3.73 axle ratio). But if there is no dealer incentive to move them at months end, there isn't really any incentive for me to purchase a 2012 off the lot.....not when a 2013 could be ordered (the way I want it) for a similar price.

You can do some things while driving, some things while stopped. They don't want you typing in addresses while on the move. But, if you want to find gas or food or something on the route, I believe you can do that on the move. I don't have a stand alone NAV, besides what I have in my phone, so I don't know if the standalones have the same limitations to movement. The 430N is Garmin based, so a Garmin NAV may do the same thing.

Honestly, I was torn on the NAV for a while until I utilized it in my man's Jeep. It's very nice to have built in, and you just get into the habit of putting in your destination before you start to move. You can set favorites and home, and those can be used while moving, I believe.
That's why I don't like bundling. I ordered the 130 radio with connectivity group so
I have the iPhone integration. I have TomTom GPS on the iPhone and all kinds of apps for traffic and the like. Bundling electronics with a vehicle is a bad idea. Remember the 6-cd changer you sprung for that is now obsolete?

Just got word back from the sales manager at my dealer that my JKUR auto order is getting changed to 4.10 axles, and that I should have some sort of confirmation of the change in a few days.

This would NOT have been possible without the help of Pat and joerienii. My dealer was extremely reluctant to pursue the issue. It was not until I asked him to engage his supply chain manager for his business center that was willing to help. At that point he was sort of stunned, and asked where I got my information from, and was quite helpful.

Reading this forum/thread has certainly made me more informed than my dealership, so thank you all for your help.
On June 6, 4.10 gears were not in the ordering system for rubicons. They are now. Leather seats are another story. The new leather seats , ALX9, are there. Black leather. PLXV, saddle leather with two tone interior is supposed to arrive, but it can't be ordered yet. Other than that, I found the other options to be the same as 2012. Leather seats msrp is $1100 for 2013 instead of $900

#1,113 · (Edited)
I am really wanting to order the Saddle leather on a Sport or Sport S. Leather was an option for the '12s but to this point is not for the '13s. Dealers are telling me they can order leather and install at the dealership. Not sure how I feel about that. Anyone had experience with this? I'm guessing this route I would lose the heated seats and pockets Pat mentioned in an earlier post. And it's going to cost an extra couple hundred bucks.

I don't know. FWIW, I didn't even get a VON number- my salesman told me he would contact me when my Jeep gets assigned a VIN, which is fine with me- From what I can tell from last year's threads, even once VOTS acknowledges your order nothing really happens until they actually start production...

I use my android phone for GPS with driving. It works well. I have a suction cup phone holder to make it hands free. However, upon seeing my man use the 430N, I'm in love. The larger screen is nice. Not having a suction cup in my windshield is a great thought.

I don't really worry about obsolete electronics. They are easy enough to replace if needed. Though, most things last much longer than their popularity. My boss still uses VHS to record. I still use a 1st gen iPod and my 6 disc changer at times.

Got my 2013 ordered last night. Unlimited Rubicon, Bright white, 6-spd, Dual top, cloth seats, 430n, and connectivity. I've been looking for 2 months for a 2012 with no luck. Pretty much all that's left around here are the COD MW3's, no thanks.

I think they got a little carried away with the COD's. My dealer has almost as many COD's as he has normal Jeeps. Another dealer I know for sure has had his for at least 6 months. They're all about $45k which is a little steep for a Wrangler. That and COD MW3 seems like it came out like 5 years ago. Video games age quicker than anything.

I was able to order saddle leather on 6/5. My understanding is that it disappeared from the order system the next day, and is supposed to either be available again now, or very soon. It could be a bug in the order system similar to the 4.10 axle with auto trans combo.

My experience so far is that dealers may have little experience with the order system, and take what is presented to them in the order system as the final word on availablity. You may have to speak with a sales manager about the order system issue to get a resolution.

I would much rather have factory leather in factory matched colors than roll the dice on something the dealer arranged to get a deal out the door.

However, as far as I gathered from all the info out there, in 2013 the leather seats come with heat now.
Reading through all these pricing threads makes me wonder if I got a decent dealer not. I did get the color combo I wanted with all options except for the supplemental seat air bags. I'm one of the guys who purchased as a sport ute not for off roading so I'm fine with the 3.21 axle and no tow group. Also wanted the 730n nav. So basically got the Sahara unlimited I was looking for after 4 other dealers could not get me. They either dual tops and other stuff I did not need/want. So when i saw this I got excited. I hailed a bit bt in the end wondering if I could have did better on price. Sticker attached at 37,545. Also had front doors window tinted. I got for 35,045. Obviously before tax. Thoughts? ??

Sheet is blurry but using CarZen 2012 pricing it looks like you got Invoice Price (including Destination charge). Ya you could have gotten 1% less with a discount program = 350. Or more maybe more if you haggled.

Saddle leather was never available on the 2012 Sport models.

Black leather via Katzkins were available for $1600 on the Sport models. Those came with heated seats and a 115v outlet.

Saddle leather is/was option on the Sahara's and Rubi's (along with saddle cloth).

New for 2013, saddle cloth interior will be an option on the Sport models, but the Katzkin leather option has been removed. (Saddle cloth was not available on Sports in 2012)

So the answer is NO leather of any kind is an option for the Unlimited Sport or Sport S?

Has anyone had experience with having the dealer add leather at the dealership?

Hi All,
First I want to thank Milous for keeping this post updated and for all his secret insight. Then I want to send a HUGE thank you to Pat@fieldsjeep for all his HONEST help when answering questions. Anyone that lives near him that wants to buy a vehicle is out of their mind if they do not see him first. I also want to thank the rest of you guys that do the mock ups, excel pricing sheets and those in general that keep everyone here informed as much as possible. The info in this thread is invalueable ! My finger is on the trigger and the pressure is ready to shoot the final shot thanks to you all !
I started out here knowing NOTHING about a Jeep Wrangler and now I know more than most Salesman that I have run into and even some Sales Managers. A Jeep was not even one of my targets for a daily driver but after demo-ing one I set up a target ;-)
I attached the build sheet with Dealer & my name removed. Using the info from this forum I asked for quotes in my general area but unfortunatly most services send out a 2012 quote. When the Dealers replied I sent them this sheet. Two that I visited before this sheet agreed on the 1% below because of the Chrysler Affil. discount plus their Documentaion Fee. But the ones that I sent the sheet to came in much lower in price. One being 33288 and the other 33285 but I still have not told them of the Chrysler Affil. discount (I do not qualify for any rebates). So this means they can still get another 2% back and I plan on seeing if they will drop price even more. I did get a third Dealer asking me to come in but I informed him of what I wanted and what I knew about pricing and disounts and he asked if I worked for CHRYSLER since I knew so much ... LOL ...
So far he has hit my MAJIC number of 33,000 even out the door including all documentation fees. That is equal to 8.37% off MSRP or 2.54% off Invoice !
The only problem he is yet to send me the itemized break down of the numbers on HOW he reaches this number.

Dealer Email
Hello,
You have dealer invoices for a 2013? Also an invoice with those added option in it for a factory order? Do you work for Chrysler?

My Email ...
No I do not work for Chrysler.
The Internet is an amazing place to find ANY information that you need ;-)
I have all the models & all the options MSRP/Invoice prices.

2013 White Unlimited Sahara - 32,120 (30,393) (includes 925 Destination fee)
AEM Dual Top 2,085 (1,856)
DGJ Automatic Tran. 1,125 (1,001)
AHQ Max Tow 390 (347)
DSA Anti-Spin Diff. 295 (263)

Total 36,015 (33,860)

Holdback 1,053
FFP 33,541
EP 32,261

Dealer also recieves 2% of Invoice if using Chrysler Affiliate Rewards
www.chrysleraffiliates.com

Pretty much asking how much you need/want to make on your end for
a vehicle that will come in off a trailer and prepped and off your lot A.S.A.P.
No financing needed either, all ready been taken care of.
Thanks ...
Rob .....

I then sent him an email saying I have 2 quotes so far near the 33,000 price.

Dealer email ...
That sounds good, when did you want to place the order?

No order will be placed UNTIL I see the break down and his reply is just
not a come on to get me in the Dealership haggling prices.
I want it all in Black and White so no misunderstanding when I sit down to sign
on the dotted line and finally PULL the trigger !

I understand your concern, but it will all be in black and white before you sit down to sign. The dealer will walk you through the ordering process, and you can ensure that all options/prices are where you want them before agreeing to anything. Is this dealer far away or something? Why the hesitation at going in to talk to him in person?

Hi Void. You seem very knowledgeable and I enjoy reading your posts. Would you please scroll up a few comments and view my post and window sticker. Thanks Perry

Flattery will get you everywhere! I'm surprised that I seem knowledgeable- I learned everything I know from this thread, and just within the past couple of weeks! I read your thread and tried to look at the window sticker, but I'm not able to read the print. Maybe my computer at work is just terrible. It looks like it's a 2012 though, right? Did you get the affiliate discount?

Looking at the deal you got (about $2k under MSRP, right?) without being able to calculate specifics, I'd say you did pretty well. But if you already paid for it, don't get too hung up on this stuff. There's nothing you can do about it now, and you should just focus on enjoying your awesome ride!

Atleast I will have it in writing and PRINTED as I walk in :D
If they deviate one iota I will have no problem saying FU to their face and walk out.
ONE DOLLAR difference to me is a walk out, plain and simple.
I worked pin stripping cars for a year at Dealers in my area and have
seen the game they play.
There are no stipulations ... Just the FINAL price !
I will do the leg work to the insurance company and the registry.
Here in MA you pay the Sales Tax when you Register.
BTW ... You got Mail :whistling:
Rob ...
I'm getting ready to place my order on Saturday. When I've compared dealers so far I've been giving them a list of sales order codes and saying: give me a breakdown of: price before destination, destination and line item for each additional fee/tax/etc - and end with the bottom line final amount to drive off the lot . So far nobody has balked at wanting this breakdown (different prices from each dealer of course). My plan is to hold them to this number and check each line once the ca--- er--- Jeep arrives before I take delivery.

Does anyone insist on putting it up on a lift and walk through under with checklist? I've been thinking about this, but don't know if it is unreasonable.

Like many on this board I am very close to pulling the trigger on a new 2013 Unlimited which will be my first jeep. I have driven the 2012 Sports, Sahara's and Rubicon's and now am just trying to decide what exactly I want. However, my question is this: How big of an upgrade is this new 2012+ engine that is now being used? Is the performance/mpg/acceleration night and day over the previous years models, or is the difference much smaller? I usually buy vehicles slightly used, and I am very intrigued about a 2011 used Rubicon on Ebay that is for sale in another state. It is that former "Mango Tango" color which I think is the best looking color I have ever seen on a jeep, and the price is thousands below new of course. Like I said though, it is quite the drive to get to this vehicle. So is there much difference in driving a 2011 Rubicon vs a 2012/13 Rubicon? I live in Wichita and there are no used jeeps for sale in the city right now for me to drive and compare to a new.

I was heartbroken when I found out Mango Tango wasn't available for the 2012's. Then my nuts were stomped on when Sahara Tan was dropped after about 5 minutes.

As for the Rubi....2 door or 4 door? Stick or auto?
The issue with the pre 2012's was really poor overall gearing. But since Rubi's come with 4.10's....that allowed the 3.8 to run a lot better in stock format.

The new engine is really nice, but the new auto tranny is what makes it sing.

Is your price good or bad depends on your pocketbook :D
Based on what I am going to try to settle for at 2.54% under invoice
you would have saved another $890.
The price I am going for is Out The Door = Price of Jeep + Documentation Fee.
This will include the Chrysler Affil. Discount where the Dealer gets 2% of the Invoice back from Jeep.
I am not trading in anything, or using their financing or any other rebates.
Rob ....

BTW ... Can't wait to replace my Profile pic with my NEW Jeep ;-)
