hi Ed
I worked in Cambridge until this week, now company moving to Stoughton. We were also just bought and new owners will be moving us back near Boston by turkey day. Live out inthe sticks on the MA/NH border. My first jeep so I can not tell you who is good or bad. You can try a site called DealerRater.com and read the reviews. I do and I have also done a search using google to see other sites that people can give Dealer reviews.

Saddle leather was never available on the 2012 Sport models.

Black leather via Katzkins were available for $1600 on the Sport models. Those came with heated seats and a 115v outlet.

Saddle leather is/was option on the Sahara's and Rubi's (along with saddle cloth).

New for 2013, saddle cloth interior will be an option on the Sport models, but the Katzkin leather option has been removed. (Saddle cloth was not available on Sports in 2012)
So you're saying no leather option on Sport or Sport S models in 2013?

#1,160 ·
Correct, no leather from the factory for 2013 Sport and Sport S's...as of now at least.

2012 was a bit odd because there was the "factory" leather for $900 (Sahara/Rubi only), and the Katzkin leather installed at the factory for $1600 for the Sport/Sport S (black only....but you could also order it for the Sahara/Rubi for $1500....with the $100 difference being the 115v outlet already being standard on the Sahara/Rubi)

You can always have your dealer install Katzkins in any color....or install them yourself as well.

The one I am looking at is a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited - Automatic. It also comes with a "Warranty Forever" on the powertrain which I thought was cool as well. It appears to be a base four door auto Rubicon with the Duel top being the only option that the original owner added to it. 27k miles. Dealer is asking 30,800 for it. Carfax checked out clean.
Sure about the warranty? Any lifetime warranty I've ever seen is non-transferable.

Here is an interesting option for those buying a 2013 Wrangler that live in the Southeast. The CarMax location in Norcross, Ga is allowed to order brand new Jeeps of any sort. I think it used to be a Jeep dealership. When it was purchased by CarMax, they retained the rights to buy new Jeeps from Chrysler.

I called them last week and they told me they would order me whatever I wanted.

My plan is this. I'm going to give my local Jeep dealership and the Norcross CarMax my order and let them know that I am going to use the Chrysler Affiliate program. I'll order from the one who gives me the best price.

CarMax's web site is www.carmax.com. I have had very good experiences with them in the past.

Cool. Any reason to believe carmax will behave differently from a regular chrysler dealer though? (I don't know much about carmax, except that they buy used cars...)

I ordered a 2013 back on June 4, and got a VON number. I've tried looking up the order status in VOTS but it doesn't find anything. Does anyone know if this is a glitch or if its just too early to search for since they haven't started production yet?
I got the VON right away. I am not sure how you have an order without an order number. Then, Chrysler.com/vots is where to check. I was told by my dealer that it takes 4 weeks to show up here. Can anyone confirm this?

Just got off phone with dealer. I was about to order first Jeep wrangler unlimited, but was told only black interior was available. The black/dark saddle interior is on hold. As this is my first experience with Jeep and order process, is this true? I dont recall seeing a post on the, but there is so much info to read on this site, I might have missed it. Also as I'm likely to get the rubicon, should I get the 3:73 or 4:10? It will be an auto. Thanks for any insights!!!

When I ordered mine yesterday, the salesman showed me the ordering process and I saw that only the black cloth interior showed up on DealerConnect. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's actually the only available option-- the 3.73 was the only rear axle ratio available on DealerConnect for Rubicons for the first week or so, right?

Short version: Black interior is the only available cloth option on DealerConnect right now.

Does that mean / imply that saddle is available in leather?

So... after reading, and reading, and reading some more on forums I have decided on a color and edited my order today.... CRUSH!! I also made another decision in my endless quest, which is to change from hard top to dual top option, but the sales person is confusing me. I am ordering an Unlimited Rubi and she is asking if I want to add $300+ for the premium soft top... did I misread in this thread that the premium soft-top was standard on all of the Rubi dual tops? Also, how can I confirm that I will get a tinted soft-top vs. a non-tinted one? Thanks!

Black/Dark Saddle leather is on restriction. It will be available to order soon, however it will not start production until August 1st.

Thanks! The more I read this forum and the volume of info that this group is willing to share, the harder it is to reconcile responses that the dealer is providing. Maybe it's me, but I sure feel like I'm ordering blind at this time and am subject to limited insights as to all the 2013 options and related pricing. Am I alone with this feeling? Maybe this is the way that Jeep operates, with new models/ options & colors coming and going during the year.

No, you are not alone. I ordered mine back in May through Military New Car Sales, and even though they have submitted my order and taken my money, the only info that I can seem to get is from this forum. I assumed I would have more solid info from them by now, and I was holding my breath for a while there, but I guess I should just sit back and enjoy the wait from here on out :surrender:Not that I have anything better to do, being in Afghanistan and all.

Lately have split my time between Atlanta (Norcross), San Antonio, and Ft. Knox.
Knew someone who had all his Jeep service work at CarMax, Norcross. He said CarMax did great work and had the best prices.
CarMax they said they could not order a new Jeep. Then they could.
Priced new Jeeps. Other dealers had better prices (this could change).
For example of the 3 dealers recommended by USAA Buying Service, none were CarMax.

We were going to trade in a vehicle at the time of buying. How does it work with ordering? We are going to go Saturday to order, trying to figure it all out.

Also does the color of the hard top make a difference with heat since it is white inside? Seems like it would work like the insulated/thermal curtains. I am deciding whether to do all white or true blue with black.
Thanks!

I did a trade-in. It's probably not the same at every dealership, but mine wanted to value/negotiate the trade-in before they put in the order. We came together on a price, and I agreed to buy the Jeep upon delivery at the purchase price, minus the agreed-upon trade-in value. Then I drove my trade-in home, and I'll continue to drive it until the Jeep shows up.

Strangely enough, I never formally agreed to reasonably maintain the present condition of the trade-in. I would have required that kind of agreement if I were the dealership, but they never even mentioned it. Obviously, if I show up to pick up the Jeep with a totaled ride, or having put 100,000 extra miles on, the deal would fall apart (see: basic principles of contract law) but it seems like I can just continue using it as my commuter vehicle for the next two months, and get the same price reduction upon delivery.

I'd be curious to hear if others had different trade-in/ordering experiences.

I may have to start swiping passwords instead of taking my salesman's word for stuff. Hehehehe. :D

I did order a Rubicon tire cover. I have access to mud flaps, steps, gas fuel filler door and other stuff they stock at the dealership.

I am his best customer....I have an 06 SRT 10, 09 Sahara JK and now the Rubicon...and he got himself a 06 3500 Laramie. Plus we have some GM stuff hidden in the garage :D

It is always good advertisement to make the wife happy!!!
I agree on that one!! The wifey got wind of the changes coming on the 2014 Grand Cherokees(hitting in March) and wants to trade her 11. She barely uses all the tech stuff in her Overland and now she wants the bigger nav screen and the 8 speed.
She brings me in more business than most of my other customers so what she wants she gets!
