Exclamation 2013 Wrangler Unlimited "Dozer" Rumor

I've been stuck at "D" since the third week in August for a 2013 Sahara UL in Dozer.

My dealer has no updates, and today the idea came up that because the color ends October 12th, Jeep is probably "bundling" all the Dozer orders (not the most popular color anyway), for one last production run through the spray boot at the end date.

That would mean my August 17th order doesn't get painted until about October 12th (call it two months), with delivery probably end of October at the earliest -- call it 10 weeks.

The Jeep rep seemed to confirm this by phone today as well, saying while they also had no additional info on the car, the order could easily take "10-12 weeks."

Anyone else with Dozer stuck on D?

If you can wait for what you want, order it. If you can't, order something else.

And it sounds like you're stuck in P. D usually moves forward.

Thank you for your "on-target", responsive, and very helpful reply.

As I posted above, the car has been ordered, although I may not have been "perfectly clear."

Chrysler (Jeep) has an on-line order tracking system, actually several, e.g., VOTS, Insight, etc.

The order codes that could be listed include:

Quote:
ORDER STATUS CODES

BB - review by fleet department
BD - special equipment processing
BE - edit error
BG - passed edit n/a for schedule
BGL - edit ok parts unavailable
BX - passed edit available for schedule
C - sub firm
D - firm schedule - dealer has allocation and all parts available
D - 1 gateline schedule - scheduled to be built
E - frame
F - paint
G - trim
I - built not ok'd
J - built ok'd
JB - shipped to body vendor
JE - emission check
JS - shipped to storage
KZ - released by plant , invoiced
KZL - released - not shipped
KZM - first rail departure
KZN - first rail arrival
KZO - delayed/received
KZOA - plant holds
KZOB - zone/distribution holds
KZOC - carrier delays
KZOD - carrier holds
KZOE - mis-shipped vehicle
KZOF - show/test vehicle
KZOG - damaged vehicle
KZOH - all other reasons
KZT - second rail departure
KZU - second rail arrival
KZX - delivered to dealer
ZA - canceled
Mine has been "D" status for 3 weeks now, and my specific question was:
"Anyone else with Dozer stuck on D?"

and maybe even
"today the idea came up that because the color ends October 12th, Jeep is probably "bundling" all the Dozer orders"

-- although I didn't put a question mark after that part of the sentence, so that may have been confusing to you.

Now that you have that additional information, do you have anything substantive to add to the conversation?

You might have to wait a couple-three months.

Oh, wait...

Welcome to WF.
Lovely.

You may have missed the part in your quote of mine there about: "[Jeep] saying while they also had no additional info on the car..."

Care to respond to my questions on the next round?
"Anyone else with Dozer stuck on D?"
and maybe even
"today the idea came up that because the color ends October 12th, Jeep is probably "bundling" all the Dozer orders"
BTW -- if you have no information. no need to reply again. Save the electrons.

Lastly, thank you for your kind welcome. With currently 14,552 posts over at CorvetteForum, I was wondering, when I decided to join this forum, how long someone like you would take to pop up.

And you showed right up at post #3.

A Józef Korzeniowski fan at that....

I have a question for you, and you may see this as off-topic, but the delay may be due to other options.

Did you order manual or automatic?

KittyPrawn,

Automatic, with black leather, side air bags, 730N, full body color hardtop, no dual top, stock wheels, misc. minor options. Just over 40k MSRP, but ordered with the Chrysler Affiliate program.

None of those seem to be on restriction (according to the dealer), and a serial number about 1,000 less than mine arrived two weeks ago at his lot.

Thanks!

Glad we're friends (again).

I didn't realize that my car would sell so fast in today's "not-Corvette-friendly" market, especially with 99k miles on it -- a garage queen it wasn't. I think I priced it right -- it sold in a week, not in the month I was expecting. Well done (by c4c5specialist), not crazy mods, it did have CF provenance and that probably helped. Quite a few folks knew the car, and it actually went to a forum member who was familiar with the car.

So, now I'm mooching from the rest of the family for transportation -- I'm a "I can only drive one car at a time" person, and when they heard it could be November, they told me not to bother showing up for Thanksgiving.

Not sure why they are retiring it so soon. I'm not a bright color guy, but of crush, dozer, and gecko...dozer is by far my favorite. It looks awesome built up.

There was a restriction on body color hardtops for a while. I don't know if it is still up, or when it happened exactly. I can't find the post I saw it on, but I think it was somewhere in the 2013 information thread. But, it might have also been a restriction on Billet only. Too much information, I can't remember!

I would think this would have something to do with a delay more than the actual color. I also know that there were some people who purchased Dozer JKs and that paint was not done well and primer was showing. I'm wondering if there were issues somehow with the Dozer paint process that was causing a delay also.

I received my dozer Rubicon on 8/28. No issues with the paint at all. I have seen pics of bad paint jobs but mine was as good as any i have seen. Luck of the draw i guess.

Thanks for all the replies.

Here's what I'm coming from (these two were taken when the buyer was picking up the car) -- not bad for plastic car with 99k miles on it.

The Z06 belongs to a friend of mine, with mods much too wild for me -- a huge supercharger, among others):

I am so tired of black cars, so I thought Dozer was about as far away as I could get from that color.

Of course, with the Adirondack guide boat, I might look like Ronald McDonald out for a drive.

Might have to change the color of the boat now.

And I know I'll be looking for advice on a roof rack -- maybe even a roof lift -- although the boat only weighs about 65 lbs.

Yeah, I feel your frustration. I am no help with YOUR issues, but mine took over 3 months from ordering. I think mine was held up due to leather and color matched hard top. I think the posters above were trying to help and let you know that it is 'normal'. By the way, I know you have bunch of posts on your corvette forum, but you haven't learned Jeep etiquette yet.... I think you have killed nearly as many kittens as you have posts...

What's "Jeep etiquette" exactly?

Somebody asks a straightforward question, and instead of giving a straightforward answer, you get things like:
"If you can wait for what you want, order it. If you can't, order something else..it sounds like you're stuck in P. D usually moves forward."
and
"You'll be in D a lot more once you get it..."
That's "Jeep etiquette"?

Oh, great... maybe I should have bought a Geländewagen after all.

The price point alone would separate some of the wheat from the chaff.

KittenPrawn --

Thanks for the heads up in that direction.

I did some searching, and that seems to be a good possibility -- the color match hard top couple with the new for 2013 style leather seats seem to complicate things. Fabric seats are being pushed through more quickly, as are the vinyl tops.

I'll save you some time and future flaming. It's NEVER a car, its a jeep

And, honestly, this is the most newb-friendly of all the jeep forums out there; you'll learn that very soon. Great guys and gals on here, so please just lighten up a bit. If you can't handle a nice guy like kbwwolf, it's going to be a rough ride.

Of course it's more than just a car, dear, of course it is.

To those of you who've been helpful and responsive to my original question, thank you, it's been great, and happy trails, as Roy and Dale would say.

To the rest -- enjoy finishing the rest of your bag of Doritos, and ta-ta!

Wow, that was weird. The dude took the time to register and create a new thread with his problem. Others took the time to answer him, only to receive ridicule. Corvette owners must be a different breed I guess... at least he doesn't seem like he is coming back.

Jeep etiquette dictates that we laugh when someone cracks a harmless joke instead of getting pissy about it. Order a Hummer, you'll fit in better.

Not alot of judging going on here based on what "price point" one can afford. Another reason to buy a Hummer. You can go to hummer club meetings and sit around feeling superior to people who can't afford hummers. You can even spend every other thursday looking down on jeep owners for getting their rigs dirty, or for getting their hands dirty by working on them themselves.
