Driving into work today check engine light came on. Dropped with dealer we shall see what comes up. I was kind of astonished as it's literally 2 mos. Old.
Mine came on at around 1000 miles or so. Playing with the gas cap didn't help. The dealer told me there was a service bulletin out on the problem. He flashed the computer and it's been fine for the last 3000 miles.
P-301 Cylinder Misfire #1 swapped #1 ignition with #5 and swapped #1 sparkplug with #5. Said if it returns they will have to replace head. Surprised me actually as dealer said that this is a known issue. They took very good care of me so all is well for now. Dealer also said that some warranties have been extended due to this issue.
This is true I have a 2012 2dr Sport and I just got a letter from Chrysler with my vin # saying that my Warranty on my left head has been extended to 10 years or 150.000 Miles so they know they have a issue but I thought they worked out the problem in 13 apparently NOT.
****UPDATE*****Check engine light Returns Jeep is with Dealer again this weekend. What in the hell did I sign up for here? They are now going to replace head. I did not expect there to be repairs in the first two months of owning a brand new Jeep. Oh well good news is that is why we have warranties, just frustrating but what can you do.
So get this when I take it in the dealer says that there is 2 vendors that worked on the engine one on the left and one on the right!? I am like you are kidding right? He looked up from the paper work and said I wish i was. Apparently one of the vendors is the one that messed up.
I don't get it. Your Jeep is 2 months old. Who worked on your cylinder heads before? Was he talking about the assembly line at the factory? And what is messed up on the cylinder head?
Yes he is saying that there was 2 separate vendors that assemble the engine upon manufacturing it. The damn thing didn't make sense to me when he said it either. Said head is cause misfires.
At least your in the warranty. My brother and I both bought brand new 2014s in April and so far we haven't had any issues at all. I have 4500 miles he's around 7000. Don't know if were just lucky or in the norm.
I've had a bunch of minor stuff handled under warranty on my 2013, my friend's CEL came on last week for a problem with the head. I thought they got everything ironed out for the 2013 year but I was apparently wrong. Thankful I got a letter in the mail from Chrysler bumping up the warranty on my head. Love the JEEP, hate the lack of quality control.
So as I am sitting here this weekend Jeepless I was pondering my build strategy so I will ask the ones that responded to my post about the C.E.L. problem (Full Head Replacement). I am running Stock 2014 Rubicon Unlimited. I want to be able to have normal driveability on the freeway to get to off-road destinations. That being said I think I have settled on the fact that my end result in build would be at the most a 2.5 inch lift with possible 35 inch tires. I am wanting to get aftermarket bumpers for both the front and rear for obvious reasons. My question though is related to the order by which I should be purchasing these items. My first thought was to go after bumpers, however after reading forums I am realizing that bumper may cause "sagging" due to the weight of the hardware. So my question is this does it make more sense to go after-market lift kit prior to selecting bumpers? I appreciate any input that you all might be able to provide me.
Ok so I am going to lose it here. I picked up the rig today at 1 P.M. drove it home from work no issues. Loaded my hockey gear up to go play in a game 7 hours later and throws a C.E.L... W.T.F. is wrong with Jeep? Is this the quality that I should be expecting for paying $36,000 for? If it is I am severely disappointed. Tomorrow I will take it back to the dealer for the third time. I drove this thing off the lot with 52 miles on the odometer. It broke at 3068 Miles after 2.5 months into owning it.
Hang in there BMW, I Believe the good news is going to be a long and enjoyable experience once this is settled and behind you. Things happen, they are after it and will solve it.
The "head" problems have been an issue and one we all thought was solved, apparently not.
Bottom line, it will be very very difficult for Fiat/Chrysler to turn its corporate back on ANY reliability issues if they hope to build the Jeep brand globally.
I hear you there. Yeah just shaking my utmost confidence in the Jeep brand as this is my only experience with the brand thus far. I will say the customer service at the dealership has been phenomenal. Hopefully after head replacement all will be right in the world.
Ok so after 12 days in the dealer, I was called on Saturday and told that I will finally get my rig back tomorrow. The dealer had to escalate with Chrysler to "pull" a head of the manufacturing line. I hope this will put this whole situation to bed and I can move on trouble free with my JKU.
