It's really kind of magical how all the parts come together. The doors, bumpers, etc. all have bar codes that are specific to the vehicle they belong to. Even if two identical red jeeps are built in a row, each one has designated pieces that must be scanned and installed on that specific vehicle (parts cannot be interchanged) and they arrive at the line where they are to be installed at exactly the same time as the vehicle does.

Just thought I'd share, you're welcome to tell me I'm wrong if you have first hand experience!

I don't have first hand experience with that plant. But I'm familiar with production line systems. A lot of that really depends on how large and advanced the production facility is. Having experience at Chrystler, you're probably a lot more knowledgable about their plants and processes than I would be. I was offering a guess based on general knowledge.

Cool find. It's amazing how much technology is used in factories today.

Archer Ace said they can build any and all at the same time. The X's are slower due to the supply chain for their special parts.

That video is really cool. No nonsense look at how it happens.

You should see what it takes to build these new 8 & 9 speed transmissions! All American made in Kokomo, IN, the largest producing transmission complex (5 plants) in the world.

It's just easier and more efficient for them to group jeeps together by the options or color and build them in a run than to build each jeep differently. So lets say you order a Rubicon and they decide to build Rubicons for the next 3 days. They'll pull all the Rubicon orders and build them.

Same for paint. They may decide they are going to paint Flame Red for 3 days, then Black for 3 days. So they pull all the Red and Black ones and do them all at once.
No.

Guys,

To all the Rubicon X and Willys Wheeler edition orders. Here is document that is sent to the dealers informing them these Jeep models include the kit and to be looking for them “Shipped to Parts Dept. w/VIN” and also that it is NO CHARGE! As stated on the Jeep® Fact # 193 2014 Jeep® Trail Rated ® Kits Available for Wrangler!

Just an FYI.

I wonder why they don't install them at the factory? They do on the Cherokee line.

Hey, I was sent out on train Thursday also. Exact time 2:41 pm. Supposed to get
It tomorrow, so cross your fingers that we both get ours Monday.

Mine was in a 3 week build too. But it only took 24 hours to build it. It took that long to get all your parts lined up. Everything set for the build. I was also held up in paint due to the weather. Then sit at a lot for 3 weeks waiting on a train. Now waiting on it to get here. Was told it would only take one day once it left shipyard. So it has to go to a place near me called the port in West Baton Rouge.
So I'm hoping they delivered it to the dealer today, so it will there in the morning. Luckily I'm off Monday, so I can be there in 15 minutes. Good luck to all waiting.

Well, mine is going to Connecticut and will sit there til it's ready for a truck ride. Who knows when that will be.

Don't get discouraged like I said earlier, we sit in shipyards for weeks before we get sent on our way. If it wasn't for the delay in shipping and the delay before we get built, there would be no delay. Lol

I am going to be so bummed if I'm not in shipment sometime this week. The only upside to having to wait is the fact that I'm now driving my wife's Grand Cherokee to keep excess mileage off of my trade. I love the GC, but I want my JKU!!

Look it was 4 weeks before I went to paint, so you doing the average, it seems to take forever from scheduled production to built, the I skipped it and went straight to paint. So stay patient. It's a coming.

I'm at 4 weeks now. Last VINVISION report I got had a shipping date of this coming Tuesday, and a dealer ETA of 3/5. Once it's in transit, the wait won't be so bad…unless it sits in a lot somewhere for weeks like yours did. My Grand Cherokee didn't take long to get to me once it was built.

Day #47. Almost 7 weeks into this process. This has been a great weekend for me. My 'born on' date has now pretty much come and gone. I'm now going to be looking at the back side of the entire process. Come on shipping! I hope to see a favorable VOTS update tomorrow.

Congrats. They only update monday through friday, and only the status at that point in time between 7:30-9:00 AM EST. It should show "shipment" tomorrow morning when it updates. You should see it as "in transit" on your dealer's website. I don't mean to be a killjoy, but shipping is sometimes worse than waiting for the build.

I got my ace rock sliders on thursday, I only half-assed looked at them then. Today I pulled both of them out of the boxes to make sure they were solid. I found the ACE keychain churchkey in the housing for the body bolt on one of them. Nice surprise for (hopefully) the last Jeepless Sunday.

Yea shipping could be a nightmare, hopefully not. I had rely on another source for this update. Vots in its current form has been shoddy at best for me.

Where are you in CT? My JKU is being shipped to Bridgeport where it will be loaded on a truck to Boston at some random point in time. My fiancé is from Windsor Locks and I visit there almost every month or every other. Hopefully yours will be put on a direct train and the weather will cooperate for you. My delivery has been a tedious one.

Let's see my timeline...

Ordered 1/16
27 days D1 until framing started 2/12
So far 10-11 days of shipping

39 days has felt like forever... I know I'm pretty lucky so far, and many of you have been waiting a lot longer, so I'm not complaining ( at least I'm trying not to ). Maybe 40 will be my lucky number... Come on Jeepy, come to mumma!
