2014 JK Stereo upgrade

I know there are a ton of posts on this topic, however, as a new guy it is tricky to get all the detail I am looking for for this upgrade.

I have a 2014 Sahara with the alpine premium system. Totally agree that the system is ok but far from great.

I am looking at 2 scenarios.

1. upgrade Headunit (looking at alpine restyle I209 (supposedly coming out next month) then upgrade each speaker. alpine spr60 for sound bar, spr60c for front and alpine swr-8d2 for subwoofer and NOT change the amp. Not sure how much this gives me. I would assume it would sound much better (polyfill as well) but not a ton louder. however, I have read that a new head unit will allow more sound to get to the sound bar.

2. everything above AND install a alpine pdx-v9. If I go this route I have a couple of questions: can I for sure install the pdx where the current amp is? can I get the info on the head unit from the CANBUS from the jeep? and I assume I will need to run all new wires from the head unit to the amp and from the amp to the speakers.

would love any wisdom people are willing to share!!!!

Thanks!

I bought the alpine pdx-v9 and plan on finding a way to install it in the spot where the factory premium amp is. I am going to wait for the alpine ilx 107. Not sure exactly what is best interface to connect to Jeep. I am hoping there is a plug and play interface that I can connect to Jeep then to ilx. Then connect ilx to pdx with RCA plugs and turn on wire. An\m I missing anything? I have the uconnect 130 with steering wheel controls. Thanks

One thing you could also do is the stock tweeter mod and try it out before putting money in to tweeters for the dash.

For a 2013 Alpine, it would be the 4.7uF capacitors. They sound surprisingly well with the factory 6.5's in the lower dash.

The sound bar needs a good coax replacement though. If using an aftermarket amp, the Polk's seem to fare well.

ok here is where I am at....

bought the pioneer 8200
Alpine pdx-v9
Metra install kit
Maestro with CH1 harness
antenna adapter

getting everything ready on a bench before I install.

Since I am removing the old factory amp and (praying) that I can install the PDX in the same spot. I do need a turn on wire. I am assuming when I wire the harness to the power harness for the amp, I am wiring everything color to color and then adding a third wire to the blue/white so I have a turn on wire to connect to the amp. make sense??

thanks!

I started out with the Pioneer 8100 head unit, JBL GTO 6.5 speakers, JL Audio HD 900/5 Amplifier and 2 JL Audio Sub Stealth boxes - SB-J-WRUD.
The JL Amplifier installs nicely behind the right side stealth box. I installed my amp on a drawer slider cut to fit so i can access controls easier. I just recently installed the Alpine X109-WRA head unit with the accessory switch controller and that thing is awesome.

If i were to do anything over today, i would
** Go with the Alpine head unit first off
** Go with JL Audios M series amplifiers. They are designed for watercraft and you get the same quality of the HD series.

My systems is awesome and i couldn't imagine it sounding any better.

In desperate need of some help. Project is under way. Pioneer sub installed. Pioneer head unit installed. For the life of me I can not figure out how to install the pdx v9 amp where the factory amp was. I have old amp torn out and any advice would be really appreciated!!!!
