2014 rubi pricing. Invoice?

Friend of a friend is Jeep Sales manager. Says a couple hundred bucks over invoice for no BS pricing. It that good? "Invoice" seems to mean little these days. Is he doing me any favors or should I dig deeper?

That is awful...no one pays above invoice. Getting 2-3% below invoice is pretty easy.

Maybe he meant something different by invoice (like invoice, minus holdback except for a couple hundred bucks).

Also check with your employer to see if you are already a Chrysler Affiliate member....(or join Tread Lightly).

you should always aim for under invoice. i just purchased mine for about 5% under invoice with little to now haggling with dealership.

I'm sure someone understands better than me, but how I understand it is that there is (in decreasing order) Sticker, Invoice, and Dealer price. What you want to do is pay around dealer price, which is well below Invoice. The dealer wants you to think that invoice and dealer price are the same. If you point out to the salesman that dealer price is less than invoice, they will tell you they need more than dealer price so they can pay the salesmen and keep the lights on. What they don't say is that they get incentives and "hold back" from the factory which is enough to pay the salesmen and keep the lights on.

To the OP, walk in to the dealer knowing exactly what you want and exactly what the invoice and dealer price are. Make the best deal you can, but make sure it is under invoice and around dealer price.

So is there some place online where you can find invoice and dealer price on a particular vehicle? Some place independent? Don't really trust those dealer printouts.

You can find invoice using Edmunds.com TMV
I'm not sure about dealer pricing.

Truecar is great for info. Others have complained about problems actually using their buying service. But, you can learn everything you need to know about pricing for your specific model and options with Truecar:

First page of the 2014 information thread has stock Rubi pricing, both MSRP and invoice.

Post #609 in that thread has a spreadsheet you can use to calculate pricing.
