Was going to buy a Rubi but, waiting to see what this is going to look like. Please post any info or pics you come across for us that are waiting for the spring release. HOPE I CAN WAIT!

Thanks.

I agree, but I have been waiting tooooooo long to wait any longer. The deal breaker for me is that it is for a sport model only AND I'm sure you can't order it with half doors. I love the look of the old Willys Jeeps. My favorite part was the tailgate and logo with 4 Wheel Drive. Looking forward to seeing it though!

I certainly do love special editions but after seeing the mass production of the Freedom Edition, the confusing dragon edition, and the others, it makes me think a Willys special edition will just be a quick knock off to get some sales with no real heart put into it.

commando green is the best color green in many years

Doubt it. I liked the 2004 Willy's edition for the camo seats though. Aside from different seat fabric and paint color I was a stickered Willys.

I love my Commando Green, I don't see many around Southern CA; mostly black or white. I saw it on the lot and ran over the same day to trade in my old wore out 02' Liberty for a stock as hell CG JKU Sport; no power anything. (had kids and lost the 99' TJ for the 4 door liberty)

I thought it was stupid to discontinue a great color like that, it seems like there should be an OD green color every year. It is a Jeep after all. But I do like the fact it will be rare, at least for a while. I got the Mopar Maximum Car Warranty so I will be driving it until either me or the wrangler dies. If it dies it only costs a $100 deductible to bring it back to life. I won't be so fortunate. :)

Posted this in the 2014 info thread to see if Pat would confirm. This is what i found on what the Will's Wheeler is going to be:

Willy's Wheeler: It's a spring release special edition based of a sport model. Old school decals, black rubicon wheels/tires, rubicon suspension and possibly rear locker.

If those pics are accurate the only thing that differentiates it from a Sport with the offroad tire package is a $5.99 sticker. Oh can't forget the black grill or black sahara accents on the bumpers. How original. I guess that matte black color is unique though.

I can't quite tell if you are being satirical or serious. You can order half doors with any Jeep, and the Rubicon has many features that make it different from a sport.

Wow, I like it.

Half doors is risky though. I'd imagine that will be a deal breaker for many people because I think most everyday people (myself) prefer full doors over zipper doors. I wonder if both doors might be included?

Black grill will look great especially on specific colors like copperhead.

I'd love to see interior pics and a rear view pic.

Full doors are standard on the Willys and all other JK's. The half doors are optional. The Willys "special" edition is the only "special" edition that allows you to get the half doors.

I definitely like the look of that granite willys JKU! That is probably because mine looks practically identical but with different stickers.

I wonder if dealers will order any of the Willys with half doors as inventory?? Probably will all be full doors...

I hope so, and I hope it's more than just embroidered seats. However Jeep's track record with special editions has been rather disappointing. They all consist of superficial stuff. Hood graphics, embroidered seats, different color wheels (usually black..ugh) and a different color grill. There's nothing here that would make me shell out a premium price for one.

Now throw in a D44 up front and a rear locker (or both) and make it more capable and then a special edition would have some substance to it. I don't think Jeep will do this though, because they don't have to in order to sell them. Back in 07 you could get a rear locker on an X model. They quickly figured out they could sell more Rubicon's at a higher price if they dropped that option. It's sad, they could offer so much more for the Wrangler, but they don't need to because they sell them as fast as they can make them already. There's no incentive.

What a horrible package...

Basically....everyone that owns a Sport and a can of plasti-dip has a Willy's.

Jeep is getting really lame with their special editions.

So this is just a Sport with 3.73's, Trac-Lok, the Connectivity package, a blacked out grill, black Rubi wheels, Rubi shocks, and Rubi Rock rails?

Hopefully there is something cool and unique about it....like maybe a tan (spice) soft top or something.

Almost every special editon has been based off the Sport and they have all been highly successful. Most were tires/wheels, shocks and stickers.
