We have 8 2014 wranglers that consume up too 5 quarts of oil in 1,000 miles no leaks, and do not notice it coming out of exhaust. these vehicles have between 9 and 15,000 miles on them.

Are they fleet use or privately owned? I've never heard of anything like this. The oil either goes on the ground or pushes through the rings and is burned. You're not going to see blue smoke since the cats burn off the oil. Maybe you can provide more details if this post is legit. The dealer not having an idea of how a 3.6 can burn oil doesn't sound right. They all know that if there's an oil consumption complaint by an owner and the Jk is under warranty, they initiate the steps to do a consumption test in order to ascertain if the engine is consuming more than 1 qt. of oil in either 1,000 or 750 miles, depending upon mileage.

0.62 quarts per wrangler per 1000 miles would be considered normal

OK, I'll play along.

1. "to", not "too".

2. On the Wranglers that have 9 miles on them, how do you even know how much oil they will consume in 1,000 miles? :lmao:

Excellent observation RJ... how did we miss that one? The 9 miles dilemma, not the spelling challenge...

I was never any good at word math problems in grade school...

Perhaps if we plug this problem into math problem solving software we'll get to the root cause of the matter...

how many do you own? if you own 8 wranglers and 8 are burning oil, YOU are doing something wrong. If you own 3,000 wranglers and 8 are burning oil, it needs to be fixed under warranty.

It gets stranger. I decided to google your user name and see if there was a mike hatch that owned a jeep rental company or whatnot, I found that there is a Mike Hatch jeep dealership in Alaska. According you your profile, you are from Alaska. If you are in fact the same Mike Hatch, why are you asking on a forum?

Have all 8 of these jeeps been worked on by your service department? I would suspect your people are doing something wrong.

Hmm sounds like his service staff are stealing the oil and inventory-ing it against vehicles on the lot or coming in for service...hence the deficit in oil. Mike, do you use this oil for your oil heaters? I would say the oil consumption in those things is probably big.

So I have 3 apples. If I gave one to the teacher, how many do I have left? 3.
