I finally decided on a flame red for a color. I went to order and was told by two different salesmen that if I don't order the incredibly overpriced lift package through them that I'll void the warranty. At the other closest dealer was told the same thing! I know that it isn't supposed to be the case from these forums but I'll obviously be hassled for it it I do the lift myself and need warranty work. I can't pay a $2500 premium to have them do it! I don't know what to do. I'm ready to order... Thoughts?

Don't use a heat gun, MotorCity. you'll just melt them, then wrinkle them when you try to squeegee the air bubble out. Trust me on this, installing those decals is one of my jobs.

To get the bubbles out, either peel back the decal to the bubble and then re-apply it dousing the decal with generous amounts of soap and water. If you can't get it to peel without tearing, get the finest pin you can find and pop the bubble near it's edge. Using a squeegee, work the bubble out by pushing toward the pin hole you made.

Yes it's an X model. It is one of the spec build (or whatever they are called) that Jeep has been sending to the dealerships.

Whoever actually ended up buying one can you Pm details of how much did it cost OTD as well as the options you opted for. thanks !!
I didn't order it so I didn't pick and choose options. However here is the build and window sticker for it. Believe it is fully loaded/opted as I don't know of anything else I would want or could put on it. And no I didn't pay anything close to the price listed

not true, they will not cover any 3rd party parts installed, and if there is a problem, they have to prove the parts you put on has caused the problem

The Rubi does have slightly longer shocks, but the spring rate is a bit of a mystery. Usually 4 doors with hard tops and tow packages have higher rated springs.
Thank you.

And that's what I keep hearing on the forum but it sure sounds like they are going to hassle me if I do need any warranty work. I'm going to call them today and tell them they can give me something in writing saying they will not void warranty or they'll lose the sale. Or should I just go ahead and buy it and deal with/fight it if I need to?

Granite Crystal

Has anybody seen a granite crystal car sitting next to a rugged brown jeep? I thought I really wanted granite crystal but I saw a Chrysler 300 with granite crystal about 25 yards from a jeep in rugged brown and was surprised in the similarity. The rugged brown was a darker shade, but the hue or tone (I'm not a color expert, so I'm not sure what to call it) was very similar. I saw granite crystal on a charger srt and was really taken by it, but on the 300, it looked much more brown... I think I'd have to see it on a Wrangler before I ordered it.

They wont give you that in writing, and I would look at other dealers, they kinda sound like aholes. My dealer wants 1800 for a 2.5 lift, im just doing it myself, and if anything happens, I will worry about it then.

Just that they have the same bumpers and wheel and tire package and hood as the 10a's have.. That is pretty much your indicator

Oh and that they are in different colors as well they don't have the 10th anv badge on them..

Think that's pretty much how you tell the difference

Wheels yes, tires no. The X is supposed to have the KMs that regular Rs have not the KM2s the 10As have.

I was going to mention the same thing. I wasn't a fan of rugged brown.

Want to see a production X. They might add identifying graphics to those. Not that I'll get one at this point, already got a Flame Red R on order plus the 10A Hood and Gas Cap Cover all part of the deal we put together before I found the good poop here... Ah well gonna almost have an X but should be before the end of the month.

Wait! You can order a 10a hood with a Rubicon? How much extra do they want for that?

The magnussen moss act forbids them from threatening to take your warranty away for doing something yourself or going to an aftermarket shop, other than removing the catalytic converter etc.
I own a car audio biz and we had problems with them telling customers it will void there warranty for the remote start...had to get the feds to contact them and set them right....and they will. (now if you damage something that is a direct result of the install of course the warranty won't cover those parts, but they can't take away your entire warranty)
The magnussen moss act prevents the car dealerships etc from having a monopoly and over charging with threats of taking your warranty away

I saw a Granite 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee at my local dealer and thought it had quite a bit of brown in it too. I still thought it was unique and looked really good, though.

Sure. Before I or my dealer knew anything about the X we were tracking down part nums, I'd gone in originally wanting a 10A but they could not get one on the lot, there's a huge back story to why I stuck with these guys but bottom line I'm happy with the deal and dealership.

Anyway, you could search this info out of threads here but basically at the same time they ordered my Jeep they ordered the parts. When the hood gets in they'll paint to match, assemble and install. Altogether we agreed on $1600 for everything they're doing after arrival. Here's the hood parts skinny -

Wrangler Power Dome Hood 2013 (10th Aniversarry Edition)

68184708AB Wrangler Hood 2013 $451.44
68194967AC Hood Silencer (Wrangler Power Dome 10th Aniversary Hood) $36.59
PDHBezels Wrangler Power Dowm Hood Bezels (68185318AA and 68185319AA 1ea) $81.05 ea
(the typos in that last line are straight from the website)

Enjoy - get what YOU want not what the pundits think you should have!

Make sure you get the hood bumpers too, tink. The two bumpers on the 10a hood are different than the standard hoods bumpers.

Also, when you install them they will only go in one way unlike the standard hoods bumpers.

You'll also need some extra fasteners for the hood pad. Standard hood takes 5, 10a takes nine or ten

Nope. Everything else is the same. It's just the hood bumpers the pad and those two vents.

When you have them paint it, bolt the original hinges on the hood and have them paint the hinges along with the hood. It will turn out much nicer if they paint them all is one piece

Rugged Brown and Granite both beg for a bronze wheel.

That isn't entirely true. Here is something from the Act "The federal minimum standards for full warranties are waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance".

Dealerships have lot of lawyers and money to fight against having to pay for repairs on vehicles if they think it was caused by something you did.
