The way I interpret it is that it must always be seen as amber, both during the day and the night. So even if you ran clear lenses with amber lighting, in order to see the amber during the day, you'd have to have amber reflectors behind the clear lens, which would defeat the purpose of having the clear lense in the first place.

Rubi X Question...

I know that Half Doors aren't an option due to the Premium Top (or at least that's how I read/understood it, but they are still an option on the Standard Rubi)...Anyone know if you can you order the X without power windows and just get the basic doors with roll down windows? I was just curious, I didn't see that anywhere (unless I overlooked it) and can't tell if it's automatically included with any of the other options...

From page 1:
Rubicon X pkg:

17-inch aluminum wheels, painted satin black w/ polished faces, red Wrangler logo
BF Goodrich KM 255/75R17 tires
Black fuel filler door
Black leather seating
Dual-intake power dome hood
Front & rear winch-ready steel off-road bumpers w/ removable end caps
Heated front seats
Mopar rock rails
Premium Electronic Vehicle Information Center
Red “Rubicon” hood decals
Red tow hooks
Rubicon X gauge cluster logo
Silver interior accents
Tail lamp guards

If the X is running the same standard features as the 10A, then it comes with the Power Conv. Group, AKA, no manual doors.

I know the Power Convenience group comes standard on Rubicon Unlimiteds. The power convenience group is optional on the 2 door JK rubicons.

My real question I would LOVE for someone to answer is this: When I order my JKU Rubicon with half doors, do I get any credit back on the power convenience package since it is pretty much removed?? I worked up some build sheets and haven't seen any credit for removing the power locks, windows, security system, etc. Pat or anyone else help me out?

You can have the clear lenses as long as it reflects the appropriate color.

I know that Quadratec sells the replacement kits with the clear lens/amber bulbs, but how would they get the clear lens to reflect amber if the lights aren't on?

When I ordered last year, some people suggested I asked the dealer to swap the wheels with another model on the lot (I ordered when the wheel upgrade was on restriction for the Sahara and wanted the rubicon wheels).

I ordered before I realized that I should've taken the train to Pat and drove back. Then my salesman left before delivery and I had some trust issues, so I cancelled my wheel swap. It is an option though.

You know this from experience? I have had others mention that when the power stuff is removed from the standard package the price on their build was reduced. To me that would make sense as they are not installing those parts on the Jeep. It's not a deal breaker to me, but seems like you shouldn't be charged for the power stuff if they aren't installing it...

Things aren't going well. I hope we get more information the beginning of September on colors and special editions.

I got into an heated discussion and the dealer hung up on me when discussing a 2013 Freedom Edition in a color I could live with. He insisted that the Rock Rails are only available on the Rubicon, completely disregarding the 2013 Jeep website and his own window sticker.

Please tell me this will all be worth it when I finally get to drive a new Jeep?!? Right now I'm just disgusted. Maybe I should give Pat a call and just take a road trip.

some of these jeep salesmen are "special" people. i've come to realize that the past 4 months when dealing with them. they are completely unknowledgeable of their product and try to spew nonsense even when you know whats really correct....

As for new colors and what not. im ready to hear copperhead is available already so i can order.

melmichigan - I assume you're located...um well in Michigan

I highly recommend you give my roommate a call and talk to him about what you're looking for (not to take sales away from Pat - but it could save you the drive!)

send me a PM and I'll get you his contact info if you're interested.

Some dealers are awesome, most are idiots. OK, idiot is harsh...just not informed on all the changes for a specific model/vehicle.

2012 Freedom Edition....sidesteps only.
2013 Freedom Edition...Rubi Rails or sidesteps are available.

When I first started looking, I had a group of salemen/techs tell me Sahara Tan was never offered for the 2012's. I'm sitting their arguing with them and thinking to myself..."do not buy from this location".

If I were you, being as close to Pat as you are, I would be going to Fields Jeep to buy. I am seriously thinking about that route, even living in Texas just to avoid the crap that comes from most dealers.

Koons last month #1 in the world in Wranglers and # 3 on Unlimited shooting for #1 overall.

I can attest to the service at Koon's, we bought 2 JK's from them in the past 4 months. They really go the extra mile, their inventory is EXTENSIVE, and their employees are first class. Worth the drive for me!

That would be fantastic! But then you wouldn't get to meet the man himself. I'm in NYC and bought from Pat this time last year and it honestly couldn't have gone any better.

I would love a local Fields location...I have a car to trade (too much to ask that far down the road and extra out of state miles on the car) and either Fields location would be to fast and to far a trip for Hubby to make with cardo condition, it's 2 nights 3 days both ways. I'd have to cancel patients and even for a JKUR, I don't cancel patients...so unless someone buys my car, Hubby feels up to a long trip and I decide to stop working...but then how do I pay for mods???? I'm stuck with trying to deal local...so until Amp'd is available...can't start running the numbers...

I did something like that on my first CJ-7 in 1976, I special ordered from a little place in GA, they picked me up in NC on a Friday. I flew with an ice chest full of oil/filter( had to change break in oil before I got back to OK) and a sleeping bag.Slept in a motel the first night, Sat night slept in the back of the Jeep in a rest area on I-40 (yes, it was stupid for a young lady to do that), my parents came unglued when I stopped by so Daddy could measure the back of the Jeep to make a tri-fold cushion as a back seat. Then on to OKC so I could be at work on Monday Morn.

I got to get back to life...I spend most of my time walking by here cking to see if Amp'd is ready to order!!!!

having grown up in Central AR, I would think there would be a decent Jeep dealer down there, not mention good places to get it dirty.

I'm doing the same thing, checking multiple times a day for updates on Granite! good luck and WPS!! Go HOGS

Had my 1986 CJ-7 for 25 year OK/AR, there is "good dirt" here and there, usual dealer Hubby deals with for Dodges is always MSR, They have great service department...for Dodge. I will start there... I traded my CJ for a Nissan Coupe in 2010 (they were closer to factory invoice) when I had to have my fav wrecker service on speed dial everytime I left the house. There were no Wranglers on the lot I liked then, had no time to order...I'm now in deep Jeep withdrawal....

We are a house divided...HOGS/SOONERS WPS!!! GO HOGS!!! almost time!!

pat@fieldsauto.com must have finally gotten a day off and a day of rest from nagging questions of us who are waiting to get the ball rolling on the new builds...Good Luck with the Granite!!!

Have I become a forum junkie!!!!?????? When will Amp'd be released????

Help

I own a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 door and my damn tail gate stop hinge snapped and Jeep will not cover it. It ripped up the plastic molding inside snapped it at the bolt, twisted the hinges and broke my tail light and bent my hinges. I thought this would be covered under a warranty and it's not. Jeep classified it as "Outside damage" I just opened the tailgate and it slipped out of my hand. I'm not going to pay 1,275.00 in damages to a dealership. I'll do it myself but need the parts. Any suggestions?

Wheel/tire package closed today. AMP'd and Granite might still open this week. If your dealer has one on order with the tire package, you might be able to get it modified to Granite with the other options you want.

I'll know more tomorrow morning on granite and AMP'd.

You need to ask this question in a new thread. The 2014 model info thread might not get you as many options. But check out Rockauto.com for parts...
