Low interest rates might be possible, but interest on CD's is stupid low too. Certain bonds might pay out better, but anything else is a risk.

Since interest is front loaded onto most loans, it saves you a bunch to pay cash up front IF that is an option and you might pay off early down the road a bit. So many people are worried about the possibility of saving 1% vs 2% under invoice, which on a $30k Jeep amounts to $600...but then might pay several times that in interest payments on a depreciating asset. It would seem to me that the greater the depreciation potential, the greater the loss in interest. The one redeeming value of a mortgage ( not discussing tax credit) is that a home SHOULD appreciate in value while you pay nearly double the purchase price, thanks to interest.

Any automobile loan I've ever had was simple interest. Meaning that the interest is not front loaded.

I don't mean to hijack a discussion, but this seemed to be the logical thread to post this question.

jeepers seem to use more acronyms than the US military . Have any of you experts put together an acronym list for newbies? Thanks!

Just got 1.5% interest rate on my JKUR, no money down for 72 months... It's a long term know but so cheap why not. I had 1.75 with USAA, and said they would have to beat it for me to finance with the dealership... They did. I didn't have $36k to put down. I thought this was a good deal, especially since I payed 4.5% below invoice in addition. Not bragging just informing, deals are out there to be had. No trade, no tread lightly, no affiliate, just plain negotiating.

Are 2014 Wranglers on the eligible vehicle list? Don't see the mil disc for any 14 on Jeep.com.

I can pay cash for my wrangler too but tying up that money is idiocy when i can get a much better ROI somewhere else.

But stocks aren't guaranteed to appreciate... and most jumbo CD's wouldn't cover the interest rate on the car...? So why is it idiocy to pay cash? I think the bigger idiot is the person who eventually pays 30k for a depreciating asset, with interest!

When did this go from a 2014 Wrangler Thread to an Econ 101 class? I doesn't matter how people buy their Jeeps; I'll wave at you guys whether you paid cash or financed it at a 15% APR... mostly because I don't care!

Saharas on restriction?

Just got back from the dealer. They are claiming that they can't order an Unlimited Sahara right now.

Of course, they are also claiming that Max Tow doesn't include the 3.73 gears, and that the anti-spin differential requires 3.73s as a line item to order.

I'm a hair away from ordering at Fields in FL, picking up when I'm home for Christmas, and road tripping across the US.

It's because I initially asked the question: which is better, pay in full or finance. I'm not econ-proficient, so I thought full was better, but now I will look into where I can get a better interest rate (i.e. with jeep or with a bank). Thanks for the responses.

So I hit up 2 major dealerships that claimed to have 14s on the lot. They had like 3 each, no Rubis. I then asked to put an order in and they no longer wanted to talk. One dealer insisted "they aren't building Rubis yet and probably won't until March 2014". I was like "hmmm ... that's interesting ... because I've seen plenty of pictures online of freshly received 14 Rubis. I suppose they all happen to enter into a group buy for clear turn signals in a massive conspiracy to fool potential customers." They also never heard of Tread Lightly. I didn't even get to price discussions with them, but my friend mentioned they try to insist on MSRP.

Anyone get their order near the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania)?

I'm very tempted. But I haven't been home in two years, and I'd have to cut the visit a little short, even to rush straight back. I've always wanted to do a road trip, but I wanted to take a little more time than that. 3000+ mile drive is a big one, too.

I'm curious, when I ordered my Jeep, I had my dealer add the 32" Black Wheel and Tire group before they pulled it. However on the VOTS information on the order, it shows up as 32" Tire and Wheel Package. I'm a little worried that it's not going to be the black Rubicon rims. Does anyone have any verification on how it's supposed to show up?

Thanks.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

She put down product code AAQ on my order sheet...
I should probably give her a call tomorrow and have it verified.

Hey Pat, I think I have some minor corrections for your original post under the RUBICON UNLIMITED OPTIONS:

Isn't the Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows standard on Rubi, no extra charge
You don't include the Connectivity Group $495($441) - $170($151) w/ RHR 730N

...This is minor also, but the Rubi X's that I've seen don't have the "Tail lamp guards", as mentioned on the threads 1st page.
