It should be scheduled for production this month, you should have it by the middle of October.

Don't you want to see amp'd in person first? It could be awesome with black trim. (I hope)

The orange color in 2010 was Mango Tango. Similar, but not quite Copperhead. Copperhead appears to have more red to it. I considered Mango but went with Natural Green when buying a 2010.

Although I haven't seen ampd in person, usually golds look amazing in the sun, and not my cup of tea in the shade/night. For my plans, metallic paint will also be a PITA to deal with over the years, especially one as complicated as ampd. Getting a paint match will be nearly impossible, paint work will cost 300% more because of the need to blend, I'd have to paint panels that don't need to be painted, etc. Even if I was head over heels in love with the color (which unfortunately I can't say, not like I was with crush or gecko) this is a jeep, not a garage queen sports car. I need to think long term, and practically. Now, some might say, who cares, it's a jeep, if you scratch it leave it....first of all, my vehicles are pristine, no matter the duty. I don't like a scratched up vehicle. Second, if I was going to leave scratches all over, then the rig would look like crap, which defeats the purpose of a color that needs to be waxed and clean to really pop. The one thing I learned about Jeeps is you have to think practically. If you think in a dream world, everything sucks. If you lift it 6" but never go offroad, it's going to suck. If you get 37" tires, and never go offroad, it's going to suck. Everything with a Jeep must be done for a reason, and with a practical purpose in mind, and for me, a monotone color like dune I think is the way to go. On top of that, I think that when Im done, it will look like a desert storm vehicle, and look bada$$. Although I plan on keeping this one, if Jeep drops the 3.0D in the next gen, then I might swap yet again, and hopefully the monkeys at Chrysler will bring back crush and gecko.

Unless someone posts some more pics of the color and I change my mind.

Good points all! I like Dune and may do the same. Hadn't thought about the paint match problem. Still hope I get to see Amp'd first though. Thanks

Do we know for certain that Rubi X will be available in Granite? I'm thinking about that combo as well.

Without derailing the thread too much, my other car is an s2000 in new formula red (hence my screename NFR)....another color it came it was rio pearl, which is also a 3 stage paint.

After talking to a lot of owners, they told me that the color was impossible to match, they can only get 96% close or so. Moreoever, to get said 96%, they often had to have their stuff repainted 2+ times because the first time it was way off. Sometimes they said they were in the shop during the day, and all was well, but then the sun set, and there was a MASSIVE difference in color due to the metallics reflecting light in opposite directions. That always stuck with me. I also used to have an Acura RL in white diamond pearl. Spotless car. Some douche keyed my hood, and when I got it redone, they needed to blend into the fenders (which were mint factory paint) that needed no painting, they obviously didn't go as good a job as factory, and hurt 3 panels instead of 1. It also wasn't an exact match. I just don't know if I want to deal with all of the above. If I was buying a Porsche, I might, but I don't think I do on a Jeep, especially since I DO plan on taking it into the bush.

I think one of the biggest differences you'll see between 2012 and 2013+ is the premium soft top. It's much more cloth-like. It's like comparing a nylon rain jacket and a premium goretex pro jacket, imho.

I'm looking forward to your build. Will you stick with the Rampage bumper and Smittybilt sliders?

They show one in the 2014 Spec sheet insert for the brochure. I would venture to say that Granite Crystal will be available on a Rubicon X.

Here is the info I could find on the Sport S special edition for 2014:

"The Jeep Wrangler Freedom III is the Sport S with graphics and a built in $250 donation to the United Service Organizations (USO). Jeep Wrangler Freedom III has sparkle silver 17-inch wheels, gray grille and bumper inserts, body-color wheel arches, star-in-circle fender badges and hood decals, rock rails, black tail lamp guards, special fuel fill door, and Sunrider soft top with tinted rear window. Inside, it has black fabric seats with silver embroidered logos, silver accent stitching on the steering wheel and accents, grab handles, and slush mats; the grab handles are new for 2014 Wrangler. New paints include Ampíd, Anvil, Copperhead, Flame Red, Granite Crystal and Hydro Blue (Freedom III only). Billet Silver, Bright White, Black and Dune continue on for 2014."

Kinda looks like from allpar that all you hydro blue lovers will be ordering a Freedom III

I couldn't agree with you more with your entire post !!! im also one that likes to keep my vehicles pristine. my evo was garaged kept its last 4 years of of myself owning it. i was just arguing with some retard via pm how he claims i will own a mall crawler.... its wouldn't neccesarily call someones vehicle a mall crawler if you have no place in your tri county area to take the vehicle off roading... hell only thing we have around my way is ft lauderdale beach and down the next county is south beach.. tell me where is there somewhere in MY tri county area to go off roading? and if there are any up roads, feilds, etc their usually privately owned...

as for completely doing up a jeep and it NEVER sees off road time then it is overkill.... to each is own though.

Yup. Love my rampage bumper and I don't rock crawl hard enough to warrant more serious sliders. As for the soft top, that's a Jon issue since I'm getting hardtop only.

That is correct. Haven't heard anything on here about it coming back. If you're wanting one of those you'll have to search around for any leftovers on dealer lots. It was a nice special edition and I like the wheels it came with.

Not sure as to why people are making a big deal about Granite crystal.... its available to look at on chargers, challengers and alot other chrysler vehicles... the color reminds me of alot of my toyota's magnetic grey and many other brands make a color very similar to it as well. granite IMO will look excellent with black roof or color matched and also with black wheels.

My prediction is that although it will look nice Granite Crystal will blend into the highway and will be hard to see. I prefer bright colors and I'm going with red for my 2014.

Exactly! My granite crystal jeep will blend in while your blood red jeep grabs the zombies attention. I like getting the jump on zombies with stealthy colors. Maybe we could team up though... You can initiate the chase and I will take them out from the rear?

I'm sticking with the stealth color. Makes me feel safer.
