I have a '10 JKU Sahara now and I'm ready to order a '14 Rubi. Should I go with the 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Mild off roader, I'm not going to put bigger tires on my Rubi.

I know this was posted earlier, but here is the Granite on my Charger. It looks very metallic at night. Not sure how that will be for repairs in the future.

That sucks. What is with all the 3.21 gearing I keep seeing?

3.21 is the standard gearing for Sport and Sahara trims. CAFE standards and all. . . . .

IMO it's decent gearing for all around road use, some mild offroading, the beach maybe, all while mostly stock.

But you've got to remember you're on a forum for enthusiasts. Therefore we are looking for more torque for rock crawling, to turn bigger and heavier tires, to carry heavy accessories like bumpers, etc.

Load up a wranlger and the 3.21 gearing can get anemic. Which is why all the talk about 3.73 and 4.10.

Trucks do the same thing. Your regular 'ol pick 'em up truck may have 2.76 or 3.21 gears for gas mileage purposes. Then taller gears come in tow or HD packages for the increased torque needed. My titan has the tow package and it has 3.36 gears I believe- an upgrade over the standard 2.94 that comes standard.

I was just saying that the stock gearing sucks. The dealers should at least order some 3.73 packages. When you look at 45+ Jeeps at a dealership and they all are loaded out Sports and Saharas with stock gearing, that just bothers me.

Ohh- gotcha. Mis-interpreted your question! Sorry.

3.21 saves a couple of clams on the sticker. And 98% of people don't know the difference anyway. Maybe that's the reason?

I wonder what the MPG is on the window sticker for a 3.21 vs a 3.73. IE- does the 3.21 show higher MPG on the sticker.

I'm going to have to agree with this statement. i see plenty of jeeps like described at alot of dealers here in SOFLA.... you would figure for a price in the $40s+ at least have the better gearing in them.

Go 4.10s. Mileage will likely suffer very little and acceleration will be better. We had them both in our 2010 and in the new '14. It's definitely not too much gear stock and will still be good if you decide to do 35s.

Never fear the gear!

There is only one sticker for each TWO door and FOUR door. They don't have different stickers based on options.

Colors are up now - no photos, but you can select all the colors and see the jeep.com renderings.

WTF?! Please tell me this isn't the case. I'm picking up my rubicon with a manual transmission tomorrow, and I'm expecting that is has 4.10 gears. I can download my window sticker and it doesn't say whether it has 3.73 or 4.10.

Nope - I build and price any Wrangler Unlimited (sport, sport s, sahara, rubicon) and only get those 6 colors

Ah well it's clear their site is no where close to being complete yet anyway....I'll have mine ordered before they even have the option up on the site I'm sure :P

It seems like others that ordered early got the 4.10 gears standard with the manual. I would guess this change took place on orders after Sept. 1? Which could be the hiccup at the factory and why I'm still in D

This has to be a bug on the site??? You can only get a rubi in 4.1 that's auto???????
