they won't commit because they can't. for rates, just look at today's FED drama- rates can change quite a bit in a few weeks, I wouldn't quote you a rate either, regardless of credit score.

same for trade, lots can change in both the condition of your vehicle and its market value in the next month. wait till Syria blows up on us and gas prices go through the roof- overnight the market value of big v8's drops dramatically. it's all about risk they don't want to take.

So folks are ordering $40k vehicles with non-refundable deposits and no commitments to finance rates or trade in? There's got to be some compromise that protects both parties in the deal?

I guess they just trust it. I got a ball park from my trade with the knowledge i would put a 1000 more miles on it while I waited for the Jeep.

Unless something huge happens, your finance should not change that much. Mine was .1% different.

We are actually giving them our trade in early. We have a third car (2005 Mazda 6) that is waiting for our son to get his license next month. It was worth about $1000 to give our Acadia early since it is just below 80k miles.

My deposit was refundable.
They told my the value of my trade-in and asked me not to put too many miles on it. About a month later, I had my new Wrangler.

my deposit is refundable as well.

As long as you dont order some crazy color and some crazy options that they cant sell they should have no problem refunding your deposit...besides always give a deposit on a credit card since you can dispute the charge and the CC company will refund your money.

NEVER give cash check or use your debit card for a deposit.

Item... Cost
Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited ... 32688
5-speed Automatic Transmission ... 1153
Black 3 Piece Hardtop ... 886
Supplemental Front Seat Side Airbags ... 441
Connectivity Group ... 441
4.10 Rear Axle Ratio ... 441
Air Conditioning W/Auto Temp Control ... 174

Vehicle Base Price ... 32688
plus Options ... 3536
Vehicle Subtotal ... 36224

Destination Charge ... 995

Subtotal ... 37219
5% off invoice ... (1861)
Subtotal after Discount ... 35358
Processing Fee ... 499
Subtotal w/ Fee ... 35857
Tax (4.17%) ... 1495.23
Tag ... 68.5

Grand Total ... 37420.73

Thoughts?
Sounds real good, but the $499 processing fee gives back better than 1% of the savings. Still a good deal as long as they don't try any funny business upon delivery in the finance guy's office.

AA, have you see normal rubicon for export?
It seems that 2014 rubicon will only be X (not sure)

Are you asking if the 2014 Rubicon X package is the only one they will Export?

In my opinion they will export every flavor Base/Sport/Sahara/Rubicon. The X is just a Package or "Option" you can order on the regular Rubicon anyway, not much different other then some bolt on bumpers and hood and the x comes "standard" with a few options you can get on most every other jeep. im sure AA knows the real answer to your question.

I have one I made myself, but it's messy and specific to my situation. I think someone referenced a post in this thread with one, post 600-something. Maybe you could find it via a search of this thread? I know someone made one and shared it.

Was able to bang one out for my order fairly easily. Was easier to find invoice prices than I had thought.

What is you guys' opinion on getting just the hard top initially vs. the dual top group. I hear the aftermarket soft top is cheaper/better?

This is my last unknown.

I'm curious about this too. Does it make sense to get the dual top group (and thus roll the cost into the financed amount) or to wait and have multiple soft top options later? Obviously I don't *need* a soft top at first when I will have a hard top, especially when I expect delivery in the beginning of winter.

If you buy the hard top aftermarket, you have to go to a Jeep dealer in order to get the electronics for the hard top activated. It's better, imo, to get the hard top from the factory.

Depends on where you are. If i loved in south, i would just get the premium soft top, but it snows here so i got the hard top. I wish i had gotten dual as the soft top is nice if you are traveling far from home and/or not sure about rain.

Thanks again for making it Thrillhouse! BIG help!

No way man. The premium soft top is amazing, quiet, durable, and looks classy. If you are not going dualtop group than hardtop as posted above so that all of your wiring is present. Much easier to ad soft top later.

I lost sleep on this decision with my order. I ultimately decided on the Premium Soft Top as a happy compromise. I could put a lift in my garage for a hard top, but didn't want to be walking around it all summer. I just didn't want to deal with the Hard Top. I really like them for looks and winter convenience, but decided the hassle of two tops wasn't worth it to me.

The premium Soft Top is supposed to be very nice and a solid improvement over the standard soft top.

I think I'll be happy with just the Premium Soft Top but only time will tell.

BTW- If you order the DUAL top group, the premium soft top is included with it.

Mine will also not be the daily driver as I have a company car. That influenced my decision to go with one top only as I have other vehicles to drive on really snowy days. Though that defeats the purpose of owning a Wrangler in the first place!

I think I just derped a bit... Fridays...

The Rubicon X comes with the Sunrider... So i guess I can just add the 3 piece hard top option and not worry about the "dual top"

Adding Hard Top deletes Soft Top, only way to get both from factory is Dual Top. Only other alternative is get hard top from Jeep and add soft top yourself later.
