This may be a dumb question, but is having the connectivity package solely for the EVIC worth the extra money?

Does anyone know if the Alpine Premium Audio system is worth the extra $400? Does it come with a sub?

Going in a few hours to pick a few options for my Jeep that i forgot, like 3.73 rear etc. Am curious about this option as well so any info on it would be great!

Thanks!

730N (1895) + Connectivity (170) = 2065
430N (1095) + Connectivity (495) = 1590

That makes Sirius Traffic $475! Granted, if you like the nav system of the 730N more than the 430N, that is yet another benefit of the 730, but still, it seems like another rip off to me, especially since useable hard drive space is actually greater in the 430 than the 730.
Agree! The technology offered is antiquated, and OVERPRICED! I think technology should be 100% removable from vehicles so you can hook it up to your computer, update firmware, download waypoints, etc. Have you ever gotten into someone's 10-year-old luxury car and laughed at the navigation? These units look exactly the same!

You get more than just EVIC with the connectivity package--you also get bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free calling...which in my opinion make the upgrade worth it, and should to anyone who has gotten the $159 ticket for holding their phone in CA...

I don't laugh at other people. I also don't buy jeeps for technology.

Neither do I. That's why I didn't elect for a nav upgrade!

I ordered my 10A with the base Satellite Radio and no Nav. I prefer my Garmin.

I'm debating the (7|4)30 so I can easily install a backup camera. That'd be about the only reason, I prefer my gps that I can take with me and has free updates and traffic.

Did you get the connectivity package? If so, what are your thoughts on the handsfree calling and USB audio? Do you use it with an iPhone?

That's why I was going that way for the same reason. The rear view mirror back up cam is an option too (aftermarket) and can probably do it for half the cost of the 430N

730 and 430 each sound like a rip off to me, no way they provide a grand more value than the 130 and and a basic Garmin on the dash. Would have been nice to have the intagration of things and the touch screen, but not for more than a grand.

The less technology the less problems I will have with it 10 years from now. Yes... I plan on keeping it for 10+ years. That is what I love about my CJ7 - It is simple. Seems like all these cars with all the electronics are good for about 5 years or so and then strange things start happening electronically (I am not speaking about Jeeps in particular -Just on all my ford trucks, explorers etc that I have owned and still own today) AND YES I know Ford stands for Found On Road Dead - Fortunately I have had great luck with my fords.
I like the saying " More money = more problems" and I think More electronics/technology = more problems.

I'm ordering mine as bare bones as possible. I am getting the connectivity package though - no navigation. All I need is my compass(NO not a Jeep Compass ) and the sun I will find my destination.

BTW Blue Heron, that is a great avatar you have there!

It also stands for F**KED OVER REBUILT DODGE. The Dodge brothers started out by making engines for Ford. FYI

Well...value is a subjective thing. Wife has had the 130 in the last two Jeeps (we have a nice hand held Garmin) and I've had upgraded units in the last 2 out of 3. She decided she'd like it this go 'round so she got it. She's happy = value x2.

See I'm glad you can now get the 430 (non-nav) in the Sports - I like that radio better than the 130...and prefer the nav on my phone if I ever need to use it. I've got the Chrysler nav in my Compass Rallye currently and rarely use it - but I appreciate the large screen for radio info etc....

I thought about that as well. The one thing I don't like about the camera in the radio, is you're looking down instead of up. There might be something that catches your eye that you're not seeing on the camera. My wife likes to use the camera in her 'burb almost exclusively, I like the combo of camera and mirrors. I'm still on the fence on which way I'll go, it'll depend on pricing for the X, and if my wife really thinks I need an auto so she can drive it.

Just Empty Every Pocket
It used to apply to both repairs and up-grades, now it applies to all the options too.

The guy was mocking you and whomever asks about color availability... i guess they get butt hurt when someone asks the question

there was no word on a new moab release for 2014. there is on the first page of this thread info about a few different special editions coming. as for the availability if you view the color chart that was posted a few pages back it states that it will be a late availibility. so basically no word when it'll come out

what guy was mocking who? and who got butt hurt? I was just asking a question, what's with the mocking and butts?

thanks for the reply, basically, unknown at this point. Guess I'll just build up the sport, won't be too hard to make it a Moab, though the locker would be nice

I am not about to answer any subjective question about worthiness. But YES, it does come with a sub.

Would tend to agree here. Base in our '08 Sport vs Infinity w/ sub in the '10. Was definitely better but only worth it if you don't plan to replace speakers/amps anyway.

The 130N, that's the base radio. Does it have iPhone 5 integration? Does it have trouble reading from any size flash drives? What about USB hard drives?

My ex girlfriend had a Hyundai Elantra, and it wouldn't read from any USB drive greater than 2GB in size, it was exceedingly slow reading that drive, and would lose its position in the playlist every time the car was shut off. It couldn't play iTunes m4a files on a USB stick either. It was more annoying than it was useful. The software was really halfassed.

Charles.

I sent an email to two different departments, jeep engineering and electronics engineering. I received a reply that they are looking into it for me and will giv me the answers. I'll copy and paste the answer.

So how about a different color question. I heard tell that black wheels will be an option now? Is that true?
