A good chunk of that time is spent in queues between assembly stations doing nothing but moving slowly. There are always queues between major assembly sections so that if something goes wrong the whole factory doesn't stop. They either add to the queue or use vehicles from the queue until the down section gets moving again. A queue between sections might be as little as2 hours or as much as 18 hours. The actual build time is probably around 24 hours. Then is sits in the parking lot waiting for a full trainload going to some drop off point where it gets picked up by truck and delivered to the dealer.

So if your at some place near the end of the line it might take weeks (lots of weeks) before they have enough vehicles to make a trainload worth sending in your direction. Then it can take another week for the truck to pick it up and deliver it.

So the build time is not the waiting part. It is getting a slot in the build schedule and then shipping that takes all the time.
Once framing starts, it takes about a day to build it. The line uses just in time and parts sequencing. Because of the sequencing, there is no longer a float, or a queue, between lines. As the Jeep comes into station, the necessary information pops up on a computer screen in station. For most operations, the needed parts are sitting in racks, in order for the tech. All he needs to do is grab the next part in the rack and install it. There is no more reading the traveler to see what goes on the Jeep, stepping to a box to find the part, and then installing it. If parts are out of sequence in the rack it throws everything off.

Might be at the end of 2014, like the 10A is for the 2013 model year.

Just as others said in this thread a page or so back. they're releasing the limited color of Anvil and making it available to anyone who wants one. the hoods and bumpers are available at any dealership with the correct vin number and the person whos willing to spend the money on it. the 10a is a spectacular looking vehicle to say the least, but 5 years from now i don't think these will skyrocket in price. they will maintain value and thats about it.
Totally agree with your post. I agree completely. I never meant or said rare...I just mean that when they are gone, they are gone. No skyrocket values, but the 10A is going to be diffetent to the fringe Jeepers many years fron now. There are Jeepers buying CJs today that were not born when I was cruising topless with my girlfriend whining about her hair...ha ha. I don't miss her but I miss my CJ7, my Grand Wagoneer, and I miss my LRD90s...all of them are not replaceable. So in that respect, I am boldtering support for current 10A owners that their purchase was just...and it will be confirmed with time when all vehicles as we know them are whittlrd down to tin cans with hypermileage technology. Just my opinion. BTW, my 10A is for my son. He won't be able to get one new when he grows up. That's my way of leaving somethingbehind for him that won't be offered when he gets older.

That last post i made wasn't directed at you... i understand how some of you feel about your vehicle. buttt at the same time the post i made was directed at someone saying in his words that " all the Little people " will have something similar. i mean cmon now really? for someone to think their all high and mighty because they spent an absurd amount of money on a JEEP thats completely insane. also to sound like an Elitist.... this is supposed to be a brotherhood on here not who's got a pricey jeep and who doesn't.

Kinda bummed about Hydro Blue - guess I'll have to check out the Freedom Editions to see if I want to spend the extra couple grand on it - though I didn't want color matched fenders (was ordering a sport not a sahara for that reason alone) any idea when the Freedom Editions will be available to order?

still waiting on the black wheel/tire package anyway

thanks Pat and Milous for the new info!

So, what would the red Rubicon hood decals look like on Flame Red? Wouldn't they just go with black decals?

Also any idea on when the 10X can be ordered?
My guess it may only be available in a few of the paint colors. ie no flame red.

Limited-Edition Freedom III Package (Optional on Sport models)
Oscar Mike fender badges and silver seat embroidery
17-inch sparkle silver-painted alloy wheels
Black seats with rugged tectonic fabric
Black tail lamp guards
Body-color wheel arches
Mineral grey painted bumper inserts and front grille
Mopar black sidesteps
Mopar fuel door
Mopar slush mats

Doesn't mention Star Decals. I wonder if those are gone this year?

Also, are "rugged tectonic fabric" the seats in the current O.M.'s

Another color question from a newbie

Just found this thread late last night and didn't have time to read it all the way thru. Will i be able to order a 2 door wrangler sahara in the Anvil color? and if so, when will it be available? Thanks.

Negotiating a price

I see where a lot of people here are shooting for 2% under MSRP? does anyone still use the Consumer Reports or Edmunds Car report where they list dealer cost vs MSRP and you come up with a price somewhere in between? as you can tell i haven't bought a new car for 10 years. thanks.

You can hopefully get 1 to 2% below invoice. But I'm sure a dealer would be happy to sell you one at 2% below MSRP

I never bought a new car- this is my first. But with the tread lightly/ Chrysler affiliate discount that is a max of 1% under invoice. I just got quotes from Dealers and got $750 under invoice before any haggling. The salesman wouldn't give me the affiliate discount since he was already matching the $750 under. All in all, I am about at employee pricing which is around 3% under invoice.

If you're not a member of Chrysler Affiliates Rewards, join Tread Lightly to automatically get 1% off of Invoice. Some dealers will give another 1% off invoice if you belong to the forum. If they don't give a forum discount, you may be able to negotiate to 2% on your own.

I just scanned through all 54 pages of this thread so hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse here, but is there any update on the Anti-spin diff option for the Sport S, or the black wheel/32" tire package? Are they available yet?

Anti Spin Differential Rear Axle $295($263)

I had to order because all of the dealers around here order the soccer mom towing package- without the 3.73 gears. No trade. Cash down (from my totaled tj) and financing.

I guess I will have to start haggling a little more with the dealers. I personally am happy with 1% below invoice and maybe the dealer throw in floor mats, etc. If I can get 2 to 3% below I will be stoked! I'm pricing it out thru several local dealers. Best deal and salesman wins! Or maybe the first salesman that contacts me and says Granite Crystal is ready to order!

Hmm since the Freedom Editions have fancy seats - any chance they are heated cloth seats?

Not included. Have to add, and then you also get the 115v power inverter.

But it does come with heated mirrors!

Chrysler pays the dealership 2% of invoice for selling the Jeep through the Affiliate Rewards program so if the dealership gives you that whole 2% it is money he is getting reimbursed from Chrysler for selling thru A.R. My dealer gave me the whole 2%, split the 3% holdback with me also to get me to 3.5% below invoice. No trade, credit union financing on my own.
