From what I have seen, the tweeters were replaced with 3.5" speakers and 3.5" speakers were added to the sound bar, in addition to the 4 6.5" speakers.
They point up so the sound bounces off the glass. I really don't like the tweeters in the older Jeeps. They are a pita to get around when you are cleaning the glass and dash.
I'd much rather have the rear compartment available for tools/cleaning products or whatever. The old subwoofer location was perfectly fine to me. That new sub grill in the floor will probably look like dented-up h#ll in no time.

I keep my freedom top panel bag in there, but there is still room for other small stuff, so I wouldn't want to give that space up either, actually wish it was a little deeper though.
