I'm new to the forum and new to modifying jeeps, or any vehicle for that matter. Anyway, I have received my 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock, 2dr, and am having a hard time figuring out what winch mount I need to mount a winch in the bumper. Also, what winches are folks using in the Hard Rock? Thanks for any help!
I agree with this. And that is the same setup I went with.
The MOPAR Winch mounting plate carries the winch high enough that you can work with and see the spooled wire or line during operation. This is very important and prevents un-necessary fouling in the long run.
Many will argue the winch is off center and it is but very slightly (about a half inch). But is isn't an issue in winching. I have used my system now four times and never had a problem with line capture or piling up during pulls. And the line lines up well with the fairlead as it comes off the bottom of the spool.
I went with the Maximus 3 winch plate. This centers the winch in the bumper which adds a symmetrical appearance. The Warn 10S pairs nicely with the bumper and winch plate set-up.
To mount the Zeon, you have to slot the bumper for the fairlead to center. It's easy and it's covered by the trim plate so it doesn't even need to be perfect.
I'm VERY pleased with mine. The main difference from the standard 10S is it can winch a little faster, higher waterproof spec, heavier duty motor, wireless remote and electronic clutch. Is it overkill? Maybe to some but I when it comes to recovery gear, I don't think you can have too much.
Thanks everyone. This is great information! Looks like there are a couple choices so now to get started. I did go to the MOPAR web site and noticed they don't have the 2016 Wrangler on the site yet, is it tru that the parts for the 2015 Hard Rock will fit the 2016?
Maximus 3 with a Warn 9.5ti. The off center of the "hump" on the winch bugs me a bit, but the body of the winch sits in the center. Nice product, but whatever you decide to do, allow plenty of time for the install. Removing everything and putting it all back together take a little while. Not like the TJ's where it all bolts on top.
4Wheel parts says I must get the winch mounting plate from the dealer. Is this correct? The dealership is 45 miles from me. The cost I was quoted is around $50.00. The dealer will not take payments over the phone to have it shipped to the dealership. I must go there to pay. Is there anyone who knows how to order this winch mounting plate for my 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock by mail? I would like to make one trip down to 4Wheelparts with the plate in hand, so they can start work on the install. I was also quoted $375 for the install. WOW! 4Wheelparts is also 45 miles away. This bumper was sold to me as winch ready!!! Seems like a bunch of bull. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
BIG HEADS UP! There has been a lot of issues with the newest MOPAR winch mounts. It appears they have switched manufacturers and a large prodcution run has been "stamped" backwards. Causing huge alignment issues and making it impossible to use.
Also, know that there are differences in the 2015 front bumper and 2016. I have a 2016 and know for sure.

When I look at the Mopar (Canada) website right now, I don't even see a winch mount listed for this bumper. Do you guys have a part number? Have they pulled it off the market pending investigation or something?
Hello all! New to the forum. Im was directed here by a fellow Georgia Jeeper for assistance with winch mounting brkt. This is one I found that I feel doesn't brake the bank.
I used part #82214768 and #82214787 for the center plate on my HR. I recently took them off as I'm heading a different direction with the build. If you're interested send me a PM. I need the mount and plate gone asap. only a month old and never used to recover.
Well, I ended up going with the Warn Zeon 8s. The installation was easy...and hard. A strong recommendation, if you are towing the jeep behind a Motorhome do the winch and all that comes with it BEFORE you do the tow bar install. The tow stuff really gets in the way. So far I love it and it looks great! Thanks for all the help on the forum, huge help.
I went with the Maximus centered plate and bumper hoop with a 10 inch light bar. I also took a chance on an OR Fab swing away spare tire holder with cans. Pretty easy install except it would help to be a contortionist. Now if I can figure out how to post photos again I'll post some.
