I run a full set of Rockhard 4x4 plates. I have smashed the hell out of them over the last 2 years. I can't recommend these enough. About $1300 for all of them. Install was easy, everything lined up. I used a motorcycle lift for installation. Here is a pic of my Jeep high centered on said plates, front wheels off the ground.
i will second the metal cloak.Real solid all the way. If you get the aftermarket skids i recommend you get a oil drain pug like a Stahlbus drain valve it makes oil changes easier. There are some other option/makers for the plugs you can find them on amazon.
I'd do MC for sure since they're local to me, but they only sell all the skids together as a package. Not usually able to come up with that kind of cash in one shot. Plus they include a new crossmember with it and I've already replaced mine with the JCR one. So I'm probably going with my plan of the RH ones since I can break it up and weave an oil pan skid in between other stuff that needs to be done and not be stuck with a crossmember I don't need.
Thanks for the excellent suggestions guys! I will research both of these. I did like the SEAMLESS comment about the rockhards, but will check out metalcloak too.
Rock Hard 4x4 aluminum skids for me. I wheel at stock height so weight is a consideration. I also have their aluminum bumpers. I do not bash my skids except when I pick the wrong line......steel will serve you better if you are planning to use your skids to get over rocks....
I have the RockHard Aluminum Engine Skid (and rear bumper). Fitment is flawless, Install went as easy as it gets. I was able to put the skid to the test on some rocks the other week held up better than expected. They "gouged" on the Rocks, but no worse than my factory steel sliders did.
