I ordered Acid Yellow + clear coat on E bay from Cars & Bike Touch Up Paint in the UK last week and it came today as promised.

I took some pics with my phone and used a dark blue and bright red handkerchief, plus a faded green cloth to try and color balance the picture as best as possible.
The last pic has a very bright / intense Highlighter Yellow rag to show how far off Acid Yellow is from it.
These photos are very close. However, I'm not a photo expert, so there wasn't any pro color adjusting.

As you can see, Acid Yellow is a vibrant " true " yellow. Neither faded, nor dark yellow.
Like many of current Wrangler colors, it has a lot of color shift ( flop ) when going from sun to shade.
This accents the Wrangler's flat sides more than a color that stays truer in various lighting.

Interesting that that looks darker than the sample I recieved from another supplier.

I also ordered some chief touchup paint from Car & Bike, but recieved Navajo Tourquoise. (They are both PQB). Oh well, a local dealer had a couple chief blue freedoms last week so I got to see it and ended up ordering a JK in chief.

Looks like French's yellow mustard!

Good.
I'm not doubting that your sample is different moresmoke.
Since Acid Yellow hasn't been released, one or both of ours could be wrong.

What did you paint?
Also, could you take pictures of your sample next to other primary colors out in the sun for us?

I love bright yellow on a jeep, especially with black fenders/top.. It's weird, I wouldn't own one since it's too much "hey look at me!" for me, but I love looking at it. I wasn't very interested in this color when people were speculating that it would be washed out and faded, but these samples look pretty good.

I am hoping it will be available across the board.
But yeah, looking at the JG thread info that Milous posted, so far only the JK Special Edition is listed as getting Acid Yellow.

From JG on 2/9/17

Willieracinesjeep:

Opened up this morning in Rhino, Chef, Purple and Gobi

And I couldn't find the reference for Acid Yellow on the Chief, but there's only 500 pages over there to sort through. Anyways I am impatiently waiting for 619299 to hit the production line.

I can't find it either. ( ^^ ETA: damn! been lost in that thread for an hour! ^^)

On pg 468, posters are speculating about AY being available on the Chief

Then the JK Special Edition was announced to have it and the Chief and the rest of the special editions weren't.

I don't see Milous or any of the other real insiders promising that Acid Yellow would be available on everything or even most models.
Only that it would be a later offering. Which it is.
The JK SE will run from March to May.

AY could end up like Winter Chill and Sarge Green. A short time color on one model.
But now I'm guessing too.

I sure hope Acid Yellow won't only be on Special Editions. I'd like to order a sport with half doors in Acid Yellow. Most of the Special Editions are Sahara based and half doors aren't available on the Sahara.

I got the AY touch up bottle from Colorndrive today.

It looks like moresmoke's.

I went to a dealership with the yellow I got from car & bike and looked at a Baja yellow Wrangler at a dealership.
It is only slightly lighter than the baja yellow.
If I had used primer under my test, it probably would have been an exact match.
I think I got screwed by C&D

I'll post up some more pics tomorrow.

No.
I've been busy as hell at work and it has actually been cloudy and rainy here.
I'll just bring it to work with me tomorrow. It's the only way it'll get photographed anytime soon in daylight.

Got it done today!!!
I reused the same CD with the Baja Yellow on it for a direct comparison.
The bright yellow rag is highlighter yellow with a hint of green.
Green rag is washed out olive green. Other rags are true red and blue.

The pics go from total shade to total sun glare.

In the harsh AZ sun at high noon, AY goes from a bright, true yellow in total shade, to a vibrant yellow in regular light, to a washed out, pale yellow-tanish color under full reflected back-in-your-face sun glare.

The pics 3 and 4 are the best true pics I could get, but they are not perfect.
AY looks like a vibrant, slightly pale yellow to me.
The color block is the best I could get, but of course, my monitor is different than yours. So take it with a grain of salt.

The last pic is of " in your face " sun glare.
What you you would get from the edges or hood when the light bounces straight at you.

Thanks for the up vote on the color block. :beerdrinking:

Last I heard there is a good chance it won't make its way out during the 2017 run from someone who works at the factory.

Milous has said on Jeep Garage that AY is on indefinite hold for this year.
Odds it will see production are very, very slim.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.

I work at a rail yard that unloads new cars of various makes.
Not only do we have very few yellow cars coming through, but more damningly, the yellow cars often sit in the rail yard longer than other colors before getting sent to the dealerships.
It's a very bad sign when the dealers don't want them on their lot.

True, you don't see hardly any yellow cars on the road, except Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros...Color fads come and go...Everyone seems to want some shade of gray or silver these days, from very light all the way to almost black.

But FCA has offered some bright colors on Wrangler in the past few years, for limited times...for those of us who don't want 50 shades of gray.

The Renegades have bright colors...I know they are for college age kids, but heck, some of us older folks like some color too! (Gecko, Crush, Baja anyone?)

And I don't buy the "trouble matching color to hard top". I'm sure the paint manufacturer can make a match in a couple of weeks.

My bet is that FCA will release AY for a limited run this summer, while dropping some other color, maybe purple.

FCA is a business, and does market research, so if there is no yellow, then there must not be sufficient demand for it. Oh well, there's always red!

Please don't take offense. Color is a personal thing. I do like the Billet and the Granite, but I suppose I must be one of those guys that needs to be noticed when I arrive (sigh). Or maybe I just want to feel younger?
