Am doing a swap on my 2016 Jeep because of it being a lemon. Was told they are no longer making the 2016 Wranglers and 2017 are in production. A lady in the Service department told me that the 2017's are being influenced by Fiat and might not be the best idea to get one.

Has anyone else heard this? Am I better off sticking with a 2016 or should I try the 2017.

Thanks,
Brian Rose

Unless I am mistaken (and I just might be) the '17 shouldn't be too much different than the '16s. I believe that the JL is coming out as an 18 model year.

I'm sure that others will correct me if my info is not correct

My first response was a bit too harsh... I too think that the lady that told you that was thinking about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler and not the 2017.

Again, no changes on the 2017 outside of those already mentioned.

And even for the 2018, the comments in the other forum is that the changes will be more evolutionary that revolutionary... with the Jeep pickup coming in 2019.

Any upgrade from the H13 stock halogen housing would be nice...mounts for 2 MagLite flashlights would work better.

Well there are always changes year to year. I ordered a 2016 on 6/6/16 and it is already in-transit. I was concerned about new PCM changes which would further restrict tuning for a supercharger. My wife has a 2016 JKU and it is by far the best since ones we bought in 2008 and 2012.

^^Correct
I bought some mopar LEd fog lights and they actually shipped in a box that has a JW speaker label.

it depends on how much the word "Jeep" on the headlight (instead of "JW Speaker") is worth to you. I think there is no benefit to buying them from Mopar, not even the warranty.

On the tangent of special editions, the 75th Anniversary Edition will be continuing thru the end of the 2016 calendar year. So, there will be 2017 75th's, too. However, with Sarge and Mojave discontinued for 2017, we have no idea yet what the color offerings will be on the 75th.

the PSU/PUG has low tension piston rings. no thanks.

google "low tension piston rings" class action and see what havoc the use of these has led to regarding oil consumption class action suits that have hit Honda, Nissan, Subaru...just to name 3. there are several others as well

supposedly a 2.7% increase in fuel economy. not worth it to me if now the manufacturer will consider 1 qt every 1000 miles "normal". in order to qualify for the class action suit, your engine has to consume ABOVE 1 qt per 1000 miles. what happens is the dealer will put you through not 1...not 2...but 3 oil consumption tests so the manufacturer has a way to weasel their way out of the repair

Check out the fuel injectors the PUG update got, no thanks to them either. Smaller holes [8] on the injector tip for better fuel atomization. Those should be easier to plug up and cause problems. Let someone test the PUG update, I pass on the first year of any engine redesign.

From what I could find on the new 2017 Limited Build info, LED's are standard on the Sahara and 75th Edition, the Willys Wheeler W they are not, these are the only models I looked at. It's easy to look what is standard and what is not, just go to the summary button and click it, on the upper left side under the list price will be a small button that says, Standard equipment for this model. This can be confusing at times, it starts by listing all the standard options, then down the list it will add all the standards that come with the model you have selected. Be sure to read the whole list.

LED's are also standard on the Rubicon and the Rubicon Hard Rock, they are listed under the Standard Features Button. Don't rely on the Add Options and Packages to give you the answer as to what is standard and what is not, us the Standard Features Button.

@KneeDeep gotcha. I missed that link the first time around thinking it was optional not standard or would be one of those package options with $0 value next to it.

Just as trainman indicated the LED fogs and headlights are "standard" equipment on the Sahara, Rubicon, 75th anniversary edition and the Hard Rock. On the sport and willys they are offered as a package for $595 when you build one out.

I'm now looking at ordering a 2017 2dr and will probably go with the 75th Anniversary Edition. Mine will be 95% on road and will be free of add-on accessories. OK, I want a Street Rod, LOL. If you start pricing out Jeeps on their website you will find that a 75th can be purchased for less then $38,000 List and the only upgrade would be the automatic trans and that's included in that price. It comes with the upgrade Deluxe Soft top which I'm thinking that's what I want, you know, Street Rod. The 430 radio is standard along with just about every add on you would want, other then gearing and axles upgrades. If you price out a Sahara you will be very close in price and will still not have the upgraded hood, bumpers, upgrade wheels, interior trim, and leather interior, etc.
