Just talked to Jeep guy, went over the specs and gave him my Chrysler Affiliates Rewards Control Number. He is going to officially place the order as soon as the order banks open up either the 8th or the 11th. :pc-ouch:

I'm still debating about the built in NAV stuff, not sure it is worth the extra $1,000. I just have to let him know first thing Monday morning. Here is what I am looking at:

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock Edition
White
Auto
4.10 Gears
Black Hard Top
A/C
Remote start

Having dealership add a WARN CTI-S winch with quick disconnects and WARN Quick Disconnect Jumper cables provided they don't try to gouge me on labor.

Thought I was getting a 2016, ordered last week. So now here I am waiting, not so patiently....

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
Billet Silver
Auto
3.73 w/ Max Tow
Premium Soft Top
430N
Connectivity
Auto Temp (didn't request, but dealer added it...left because it was cheap)

You'll be glad you got it (especially if combined with remote start). It's great to just let the car do the work with getting the cab comfortable without having to manually mess around with the knobs.

Are you getting word that the banks might open on the 8th instead of 11th?

Missed the 2016 order date by a day so now I'm waiting to order my 2017. I've had to test drive a couple cheap used jeeps on Craigslist... considering buying one to hold me over because I had already sold my DD...

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
Billet Silver
6 Spd Manual
3.73 w/ Max Tow
Anti-spin rear diff
Connectivity
Body color matched hard top
Side seat supplemental airbags
Engine Block heater

I wanted the 430 radio but apparently on the Sahara you cant order it without the Nav so I decided to skip it. Also planned on getting the auto temp control, but saw that its not dual zone and its just a analog dial anyway so I skipped it too.

honestly i wouldn't be surprised at this point if the 2017's get pushed back a little bit. it seems the factory is running behind, enough so that they implemented a Sunday 10 hrs shift. i attribute the longer than expected lead time due to the summer shut down at the plant (1 week) whereas last year it was canceled all together to meet demand. plus, it seems there was a surge of orders and i'm not sure why...possibly due to some of the colors that are dropping off in 2017? who knows.

if orders are staying in D1 for 3+ weeks, basically that gives you an insight into how large this bottleneck is. with 2016 orders having been cut off since July 17, i would hope that gives Toledo some catch-up time to reduce the bottle neck and clear things out. of course customer orders aren't the only thing that has to be fulfilled...you have dealers placing massive order of 2016's so they have vehicles on the lot to hold them over until 2017's start rolling off the line (there is a brief 2-day plant shut down at Toledo for the switch over). unlike with other vehicles, Jeep dealers can actually get away with charging higher prices for Wranglers between when the plant stops accepting orders and when the next model year hits the dealer's lot. inventory starts at a finite number and only dwindles from there. people get desperate and dealers know you can't order anything and receive it until early November

I'll be ordering a hyper green JKU in the next couple weeks with hard top and auto. The real excitement will be the mods!

Did you guys have a problem getting your dealership to provide info on the 2017? I asked my local dealership (sc) and they said they don't know when 2017 is coming out, and they won't know until the truck shows up.

Is there a thread about which dealerships are more familiar with wranglers? Sorry, newb here.

Talked to dealership today. My guy confirmed that the order banks open on the 11th. He also stated that sometimes they get details about options prior to the banks opening. He assured me that he would keep me posted as soon as he heard anything. I can't wait to order!!!

Wish I could have got slightly better deal. But all in all, it'll work. He had originally agreed to $5,000 off this same build for a 2016 but I delayed "thinking" about it too long.

So its costing me $1,000 more to get 1 year newer with LED headlights.

Hopefully I can get the VIN soon my pre-approval expires Oct 8th and i'll have to re-apply.

Got an appointment at the dealer for Friday afternoon!

Willys Wheeler 2dr in Rhino, possibly Gobi
Automatic transmission
Half doors
Tow package
430 Radio
Alpine premium speakers

Really excited! Never ordered a new vehicle before!

Does anyone know.. if once you place an order and it goes into the
order bank, can that order be modified prior to production?
My sales person told me it was possible, but depends on the option being changed and the stage of the build. They didn't seem to know a whole lot about the build process or Wranglers in general, so I'm not 100% confident in that answer.

I attempted to order yesterday but it was unsuccessful. 2 dealerships offered great prices for my trade in but knew. Nothing about 2017 orders being available. Third dealer could order with no problem but wouldn't give me a quote on my trade without the salesman and manager driving it. If you cant give me a quote you aren't taking my vehicle.

Going back to my local dealer tomorrow when the "ordering manager" is in to try again.

Plan is (but could change):

Unlimited Sport S
Auto
Hard Top

To many mods to list!

How crazy! I went in yesterday to order. My sales guy emailed me today, stating my order has been placed and confirmed. Now we wait....

Don't want to get to antsy already but just casually wondering... if we placed our order on the 9th. When might we expect a VIN number?

I know during a normal build period for 2016s people were getting them within a week or so... sometimes just days...

However since production isn't scheduled to start until 19 Sep, anybody have a best guess if it will be delayed until after that?

I know having a VIN number doesn't get it here any sooner, but I got my loan pre-approval in July expecting to go order a 2016. Since I'm delayed I'm worried my loan approval will expire before I can be issued a VIN.

Just thought I would let you all know that they cut off Wrangler orders at 1 PM eastern time today and the ones we put in all got VON's instantly. Also any 2016's that we had ordered that hadn't been built show an order date of July 27th and they all have VON's and VIN's now and show in D status.

#59 ·
Heading in tonight to order my 2017 Wrangler. What does the cutoff mean? That I won't get a VON immediately?

#60 ·
Odds are it'll go into BA status first which is "Unscheduled - Pending order", once it's picked up it'll go to BX status which is "Unscheduled - Good order available for scheduling" and from there it goes to D status and then D1 status. Any order that's placed whether it's picked up or not automatically gets a VON. They do not assign VIN's until it goes into D status. The cutoff means basically that they won't immediately schedule your build and it'll take a bit longer. You can always request to know what the dealership has coming in that might suit your needs. I don't actually personally order our vehicles but usually I get to configure a few the way I want when it comes to Wranglers.

with the factory extremely behind meeting 2016 orders (1 week summer shut down, unexpected surge of 2016 orders) i wouldn't be surprised if the Sept 19 date gets pushed back. Jeep Customer Service is telling me that my 2016 ordered on July 9 will ship out first week of Sept. it will have been in D1 for 35-40 days.

i wouldn't be surprised for those who ordered 2017's in the first allocation batches, to not get their Wranglers until late October

Where are you hearing that the factory is behind? It wouldn't be out of the ordinary at all for 2017's to not show up until mid/late October.
