If it had black fenders, that's my Jeep!

I'm guessing I'm a Yuppie, but I'm an excited Yuppie. The nameplate is interesting...wish they'd left the tires off it. :)

Thanks for the pics. The decals are growing on me, but still not sure I like them long term. I can only imagine what they will look like in 10 years.

That nameplate comes on all Rubicon's... nothing special, you forget its even there..

I have to say, from someone that has been enamored by the Hardrock for so long, the Recon simply falls short in the aesthetics department.

The good news is I don't have to sell my JKU now and can wait to see what 2018 will bring.

Have you seen what UV exposure does to red ink or dye? It eventually turns a pinkish color due to photodegradation. I would like to know how long the red seat belts and map pouches will hold up against UV exposure...

I need some more money. Have my new '17 Gobi Desert colored Sport JKU, which getting ready to lift. But, I need some money to get a Gobi colored Recon JK 2 door to compliment. I need to start a Go Fund page. :happy yes:

Anyone reading this that is a billionaire, that wants to have a tax write off by helping this poor veteran out, please send me a PM. :beer drinking:

I am really liking this Recon trim set up. Job well done Jeep.

I'm sending you ten bucks towards your Recon goal right now Sam.
Agree... Definitely the best looking Wrangler yet. Also... the Recon is a great upgrade from the Hard Rock. Nicer wheels, upgraded front axle, nicer rock rails, better diff covers front and rear, LED lights (granted all Rubicons have this for the 17 MY... but the '16 Hard Rocks are lacking this awesome upgrade) Better factory springs with a lift compared to Hard Rocks. Many are complaining the Alpine system isn't standard... but it's still an option. I'll take all the upgrades over this anyday.
I'm just glad I held off on ordering a Hard Rock or I'd be pissed right now... which is why we're seeing alot of sour grapes from many here.
Look what they're complaining about... decals! (Whats the matter? Not enough room for those EBay zombie stickers?) Red seat belts possibly turning pink in twenty years? Seriously?? Lol.
The most capable and best looking Wrangler ever produced and someone is worried about red seat belts turning pink?? oh well.
Two more months... my brother buys my '12... and I'm Recon bound.

Not a fan. Like the little lift though. I think the 10A HR is the best looking Jeep to date though. Lets see what 2020 brings. I should be in the market around then.

No sour grapes here. I love my Hard Rock. Would I like to have some of the upgrades the Recon has, sure. Not all though. I'm not wowed by the new aesthetics. Plus I would never use the Recon to its full capabilities. Heck, I'm not sure I would even use my Hard Rock fully either.

I bought my Jeep because it offered the least path of resistance to eventually become what I first intended my Jeep to be used for. With lockers, 4 to 1 transfer case, 4:10 gearing, steel bumpers I'm there out of the gate. Throw in the "luxury" of the leather, seat heaters, power windows and Alpine sound I'm where I want to be for the time being. Yes I'll add a minor lift and 33's but I won't have to do much more.

It is nice to see Jeep stepping up their game here. Congrats to those getting a Recon.

Awesome Nine 1/2 Toes... I guess I just don't understand all the hate directed at the Recon. I'm the last one to rain on someone's parade... Heck, I dig the Hard Rock too... believe me I had an itchy trigger finger for awhile there. It just seems like some here like to bash others tastes and dreams.
Enjoy your Hard Rock dude... and you're right about not using them to their full capability... sometimes half the fun is knowing WHAT they're capable of.

I looked over it on one of the sites this AM.....I like it!....from the factory/dealer it's got nice stuff and good look......I'm not a fan of the touch screen
radio-navaigation-etc and all that but that is the modern way with most vehicles these days---I'll be keeping my 2016 JKU for a long time to come.....

Glad you like your Hard Rock. By the time I was going to order, they weren't available, and finding one with everything I wanted wasn't possible. I was very nervous about the RECON, but am pleasantly surprised. As for the steps, I think they will help my kiddos...which is one big reason i'm getting this vehicle, in addition to keeping my pickup, which they've outgrown. They can't wait to go to SMORR.

A very cool looking jeep. I do like some of the aesthetic changes, like how the inner hood and cowl piece are coated with the black material. That said, I don't think there is enough of a change to make me wish I had the Recon over my HR.

And I'm not sure I understand what makes the Recon's drivetrain or front end any better than a HR.

What were the extra bits added to make the jeep more accommodating to 35's straight from the factory?
HRs already have stronger axles with Dana 44's front and rear, and you can get 4.10s with that. Unless the Recons come standard with 4.10 gears, what am I missing? The .5" additional lift over a HR? Is that really enough to clear 35's?

My only thought is they are simply comparing the Recon to a Sport.

The front axle on the new Recons is an upgraded D44, stronger than the axles that come on the Rubicons and Hard Rocks.

As to the 4.10 gears, just like the Rubicons and Hard Rocks the manual 6 speed comes with them but with the automatic (3.73 are standard) they are a $695 option.

I was looking at ordering a Recon, but I didn't see enough there in the price increase that made me feel like I was getting a good deal. I'll stick with picking my own aftermarket parts on my JKUR and be happy with it. I'm happy for those who are happy with the Recon, I wasn't one of them though.
