My ordered Hydro Blue JKUWW should be at the dealer in about 3 weeks. I sold Jeeps for 9 years, and drove plenty of JKs as demos over time. I've never been impressed with the BFG Mud Terrains. I've owned 2 TJs in the past, both of which I put Duratracs on, and loved them.
I'm going to see if I can get a local tire dealer to let me trade in my BFGs when it comes in. Does anyone have pics of 285/70/17s on a stock JK? How does it look? Do the wheelwells just look stuffed? Can I anticipate any rubbing? As they're under a 33", I am assuming no...but thought I'd ask.
Keep in mind that the stock Willys wheels will have more offset than an after market wheel (6 or 6.5" I believe). Putting a wider 32" tire on may give you some rubbing issues, which would require putting 1.5" wheel spacers on to correct. I have a Willys, too, and was looking at doing the same thing, but I would rather put a 16" wheel with about 4.5" offset, and 33 or 34" tires. But even that setup may require some spacers too.
The 285's do typically rub at full lock steering. They are just a smidge too wide. Sometimes you can adjust the steering stops a little to keep them from rubbing. I usually recommend putting a 1" TF spring spacer for a little extra clearance as well.
I am a little confused on what you're asking... you have ordered a JKUWW, want to run 285/70/17's on a stock Wrangler, but ask for pix of of said tire on a JK??????
The above pic. appears to have non stock wheels. My pic. below, has 285/70/17's on stock wheels. with a stock suspension, on a stock JKU Sport.. Yes the tires rub the sway bar at full turn. The only thing I can't give you is the Duratrac.. I am running the Cooper STT Pro. and they measured out at 32-1/4" under load.
285/70 17 Duratracs will rub against the front sway bar at full lock. The TF leveling kit alone is said to correct this problem. Or spacers. or aftermarket wheels with wider offset.
Thanks for all the info and pics guys. Thinking I'm going to have a leveling kit thrown in before I take delivery and do 285 Duratracs. Any good recommendation on any leveling kit that's better than another? I know they're very basic...
