2DR or 4DR That is the Question

Hey everyone out there in jeep world! Planning on picking up my FIRST jeep in a couple months. Im currently doin Medic training with the Air Force so Ive gotta wait a little bit longer. My question is should i be looking at the 2 or 4 doors? Its gonna be my everyday vehical for me, my wife has her own suv. We are plannin to start adding on to our family (now just us and our Lab) within the next year or two. Is it hard to have a 2 door with a baby, child seat, all that stuff im gonna need. Is the 4 doors accessability worth the added weight, size and cash?? Ive got a lot of trail buddies so ill be off the paved path, but all of them are single or with out kids. Any Dads out there with some advice???

There are planety of similar threads already. I have a 2door and 2 kids, one in a carrier and 1 in a car seat, I figure they wont be in it long so the little bit of inconvienience for me is ok, we plan on keeping the JK for a long time.

Here's a thread asking the same question that you should review: (http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/2-d...on-115756.html)

As a father of three small children, I couldn't use a 2 door as anything other than a weekend toy. For a daily driver and family vehicle, the 4 door for me is a must.

Yea, we have a Grand Caravan as our DD, so the JK is our Fun vehicle and my personal usage with not too often usage with having to worry about getting the kids in the back, it is kind of a pain, but its do-able. Like I said, wont be for forever, and we have the van so the 2door works for us.

I personally hate the four doors, however, if you are talking about kids and child seats I would definitely suggest going with four doors. The two door is NOT easy to get into the back seat. My kids are 9 and 11 so no big deal for them to climb into the back seat. If I had to actually PLACE a kid back in there in a child seat I would really consider the 4-door. In fact, I most likely would look at something else like a Grand Cherokee. If you are set on the Wrangler and set on having kids in the next year or so definitely spend the extra money on the 4 door in my opinion.

If I even had the hint of kids/puppies riding in it I would have gotten a Rubi 4dr.

Air Force....get the four door in blue. Army, on the other hand would probably require you to get a two door in OD Green....I love that color.

If I were dealing with car seats, I might consider the 4dr, but as mine are teenagers, I was able to get what I wanted, which was a 2dr Rubi. Thank you for your service....Aim High! Go Air Force!!!

I've got a 6 and 10 year old, with a TJ. Getting in the back is easy as the seat goes way up. However I noticed the JK, the rear seat access seems alot tighter. I am wondering how it's been for those of you with older kids and having them hop in the back.

I went from 2dr to a 4dr and will never go back to 2dr unless it just as a project/dedicate off road jeep. I like to have the extra room for all my gear and to be able to carry passengers

I bought the 4 door. The longer wheelbase should be more stable and more comfortable to drive. I know it is a Jeep, but it is my DD and I like comfort combined with off road capability. The extra space is also nice. The longer wheelbase should be less likely to do a 360 on you if you lose traction while driving in snow or rain. If you ever plan on doing rock crawling with it, check out some youtube videos. Most of those guys have 4 door Jeeps or buggies. I'm not bashing the 2 door, I just think the 4 door is safer when it comes to putting my family in it and it can still do what the 2 door does except maybe navigate in tight spaces.
