2drs with thule or yakima on rain gutters?

so leaving work the other day i caught a 2 door with a roof mounted rack that was mounted on the rain guards just over the front doors. both bars were there so (i'm assuming) he didn't have to drill into his top. it looked a little unbalanced because the bars were forward, but not too bad.

anyone have this, or have any pics of this? i'm looking to put a snowboard and some ski's up there and i can't see it being a problem as neither are that heavy.

thanks

I drilled my top because I wanted the front mount to be as far back as possible to reduce the leverage to almost nothing. If its at the front that could be a lot of leverage but that's your call. Sorry I don't have any recent pics with snowboards and skis mounted. I like my set up. The Yakima artificial rain gutters are only $35 so that's not too bad

Wouldn't that put weird torque on your skis and snowboards? You'd have to have 1 binding in between the 2 rails and the other hanging off the front. I'd imagine if it hung off the back it would bounce and tap on the hard top. The downfall with skis woul be that they are heavier and if you don't have separately mounted bindings and instead have a whole binding system like a race ski, you can't clamp racks down on top of that cuz it's too thick. You could always try it your way and if you don't like it, but a $30 part and your problem would be fixed. Either way I think you'd be happy
