3.21 versus 3.73 on 35 inch tires

hey guys just bought my first jeep 2013 wrangler sport unlimited. needed some help been hearing mixed reviews. just lifted my jeep 3.5 inches with 35 inch mt Baja 305/70/18 have an automatic with 3.21 live in Miami bought mainly for looks no mudding just a weekend toy. is there a big difference from 3.21 to 3.73 and do I need to upgrade to it. jeep runs smooth now. ive heard that the gears will go bad in about a year if I don't change and how is the gas mileage going to be affected

Gears won't go bad unless driving habits or lack of oil create a problem.

3.21 gears just mean less power and acceleration, worse mpgs.

It is your decision if your performance is adequate.

If the seat of your pants tells you that you have enough giddy up then keep what you have. With 35" tires I doubt your seat dyno is going to feel a whole lot different between 3.21 and 3.73 gears.

Mmmm...not sure I agree. You should get better MPG with 3.21s (runs at lower RPMs). Though the difference is pretty minimal either way. But the current gearing shouldn't go bad under normal driving conditions. Especially as a DD.
Like Jadmt said- if the seat of your pants o meter says 3.21s are fine- they're fine.
Now....if you want your power back install 4.56s and drive it like you stole it. (Sorry; couldn't resist).

i don't have 35's but i do have 285/70/17, and 3.21 on a 4dr. i'm averaging 19-20mpg.
