Unless Chrysler jacked the lower gear cost up to $1500, which is roughly what it takes to have it done after you drive off the lot, that's still one of the all-time great bargains, IMO.
I knew about the destination charge.
I didn't know about the 3.73 price increase.
The cost of the side steps also increased....from $395 to $450 or something like that. I noticed it a few days ago.
Is $70 really that big a deal in this context of ordering a new vehicle? I sure hope not and if it is, you probably should not be looking to buy a new Jeep.
All sort of prices have been going up...aluminum, rubber, oil, paper, food, etc...
Not sure if it was a typo or not but I seen the Remote Start on a vehicle in transit at $495 up from $200. Looks like a loaded Jeep might be about a grand more soon
No I meant anal, why give a new guy grief when he is posting up a fact. If it has already been posted then say so, but why say some smart ass remark like "and the purpose of this post is? Gas costs 2 cents more blah blah blah" your remarks are way more offending than him posting something you don't find useful.
If it doesn't serve a purpose for you don't read it. That's what I normally do, you just struck a nerve with me today being an ass for no good reason.
Do you complain if you get a raise or a COLA? Are costs going up on everything in general? That's part of life in this world. Price increases are the only way to compensate for these things...
The turd part and humor is why I like Jim, Sometimes this board needs it. Once the person see's Jims personality all is cool.
Jim, head west down the hill, Jump on Hwy 49 in Loyalton and follow it to Sierraville and then onto Grassvalley. Good pub and brew awaits and makes for better days.
The destination charge did increase from the time I bought my Sahara to the time I bought my Rubicon. I don't know about the 3.73's, I ordered the Sahara with them at a charge of $50 and would have never minded if they were $40-$50 more.
Either way, I never really paid too much attention to those costs. I mean, in relation to what I was spending on each new Jeep, they were not much more than a drop in the bucket.
Yes prices go up and I dont think anyone is really complaining about that. But it helps to know that they are going up for people that are thinking of waiting on a 13' or going with a 12' that is currently on the lot and built before May 1st.
Engine block heater for $35? Sure....I won't use it much...but it is dirt cheap.
For $95?....no thanks.
Mopar Side steps for $395?
On a 2 door? No way....can get them for much cheaper on Amazon. (There is still one set left out there for $265 with free shipping).
On a 4 door? Meh......can still get them cheaper on Amazon if a find a goo deal...but if they are already on there...not a big deal.
Side steps for $445? No thanks....especially on a 2 door.
What is odd is that sometime during the year, 3.73's were being included for free. Very strange....
i do not like this nickle and dimeing (spelling?) by Chrysler. Especially since last week when Chrysler was boasting about what a great year or so they have been having. Time to give back big boys!!! God forbid to the consumer but heck what about those folks who are the reason for the success......the workers!!!!!! I am glad to see the post making me aware of the increases.......and always glad to see Jimbo show us how to equip a Jeep "properly" without breaking the bank. All GOOD.
Found a new 2012 JKU of the color and options exactly I wanted from dealer inventory charge. The changes for 2013 so far I've read doesn't seem worth to wait especially I'm getting a Sport S.
The destination charge on the sticker is $800 for that JKU, when was that raised to $900?
Just want to see how long it might be sitting in the lot and if I should worry about the engine tick
hmm... so, it's likely built or ordered in 2011, kinda surpirsed that has been sitting so long as it has good options (it's 3.73, most Sport or Sahara I found in dealers' inventory are 3.21)
Hard to decide to wait and order 2013 for a better peace of mind about the engine or take the chance
