$300 to Spend, What to buy?

Hi everyone,

If, you had $300 to spend on your jeep what would it be? Some examples for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

$300 Airaid Cold Air Intake
$300 Hot Head liners (sound/insulation)
$300 20" Light Bar w/ Brackets

Catch my drift...

Hopefully, you guys come up with some neat stuff under or around that price range.

Thanks!

What have you already got, and what do you want to do? What do you use your Jeep for?

If I were spending another $300 bucks on my Jeep I'd get a set of Focal Access 165 components. YMMV, in fact it almost certainly will.

Gas money and a couple nights in a camping cabin at the North Rim, Grand Canyon.

I guess if I was spending money right now, it would be a couple LED lights or maybe a Q-tec Q9500i winch.

Hot heads were one of my best mods BTW. I have no interest in a CAI, all it seems to do is make noise.

Nice,

These are all fantastic suggestions!

Its obvious that our jeeps take a lot of gas, nevertheless lets say you had $300 and it could only be in regards to accessories etc. Not - gas, camping, 30 big mac meals etc..

Currently, my vehicle is used as a daily driver and on weekends I thrash some light trails up in Central Ontario...Muskoka Area...mostly wooded with some rocks.

If you are interested to see what I already have please don't hesitate to review my profile!

I do like the auxiliary light idea....however, I think an spod would first be a good idea which can become quite costly...$500 or so....

Anyways, keep it coming!!!

What would you buy for the jeep valued at $300 right now?

My next $300 (in addition to the $2k sitting at home waiting for the Jeep to get delivered...) is going to be Ace Rock Rails - Not necessarily to slide over rocks, but more to defend the jeep from day to day idiots who don't understand how to open a car door slowly (door dings). I'm sure I'll be happy I have them once I finally grow a pair and tackle more aggressive terrain than fire roads/pasture/logging roads too.

Also planning on a large ball for my tow hitch... because nobody knows how to drive and I'd love to let anyone trying to rear-end me learn a lesson.

What length/size of spacers did you end up purchasing? and what tire/rim size do you have? Have you noticed any difference in the ride or the initial start off the line...? Any significant changes?

My buddy put in the headliners and it's much quieter inside and the radiant heat is also reduced. They are going on my jeep.

I had mine for all of 18 hours before I stopped by the tint shop.

I also picked up a brake controller relatively quickly. It's pretty much mandatory if you pull a decent trailer.

Think of some quick disconnects.

If not OBA, a small VLAIR portable compressor is relatively inexpensive. Airing down on the rocks ( he!! anything on the rocks for that matter) is a good idea for comfort as well as traction.

Another thought, Spidertrax are fine but I picked up all 4 of my 1.5" aluminum spacers for $100 on ebay. Not name brand but really, who cares when they are straight, work perfectly fine, & are never seen anyway.

I'm happy to hear more suggestions for parts under or around $300. What are you guys waiting to buy? or have recently purchased...?

Is there anything you are considering for the winter?

Lets hear it!

Quick Disconnects....which ones are you looking at or have? Could put them on a stock jeep unlimited and still benefit on the trails?

get JKS discos. They benefit a stock jeep probably more then any other easy mod you can make.

2" TF coil lift?

You could almost get some of the cheaper Paramount bumpers.

Mine are not name brand. IIRC I paid about $80 on ebay for the parts. They are 4 eyelets (heim joints?) with grade 8, 1/2" hex bolts & nylock nuts connecting the links to the sway bar and axle. Bronze bushings are used to achieve the proper horizontal spacing. The bolts are drilled to accept the pull pins. I used a stick of 1/2" 20 fine thread rod cut to length to join the eyelets.

The good thing about the threaded rod is that if you decide to lift, you can adjust to the necessary length, regardless of the lift height, not like the manufactured ones that only have a specific range.

You can disconnect at stock height no problem & you will not rub at all with stock tires (18" Sahara wheels here - 32 x 10 Duellers)

You can purchase a set of JKS manufactured discos for around 150 I think if you are not a DIY kind of guy. Personally I prefer to say "I did that myself" (as long as it works of course).

I ran them at stock height as well as with my current 2" Rancho lift.

Mine are hub centric 1.5" spacers & have been on for about 10K miles give or take.

I still have the stock, 18" Sahara wheels (for now). It did make the Jeep look better since the fronts do not look like they are tucked under the fender flares now.

Absolutely no difference in ride quality. I did it for cosmetic purposes and to open up some additional wheel options in the near future (backspacing).

Since they are hub centric, there would not be any clunking off the line. Just DO NOT get the lug centric ones they sell at Autozone. Those would be noting but trouble - I had them on an old Camaro in high school. They actually came apart & my right front wheel passed me.

Also, locktite is your friend since there are now 40 nuts instead of 20. Make sure and use a wire brush & some brake cleaner on the hubs prior to install to get the mating surface rust free.

Take a look at NFRS2000NYC's thread on Jeepin across America. I have a good front pic there for your reference. Plus, it's a great read.

Where did you find a Teraflex coil lift for $300, and what do they include in the package?

I do like the idea of widening the stance of my jeep. I think it would ultimately look better, and potentially make the ride a bit better by widening the stance maybe she would be more stable....?

Great suggestions! Thank you for the advice and mounting process of the spacers. I am sure we can all take note!

Any other ideas out there? By the way 4WD is having a 20% off sale on majority of inventory! Check it out!

Again, what do you have in mind around $300....who's buying what?
