Hello
I ordered a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport S yesterday, and I didn't add the 32-inch Tire and Wheel Group as I am planning to change the rims on my new Jeep to aftermarket rims..
Can anyone tell me more about this addition or show me pictures of what I would be getting? and if I should make a change to add it to my Jeep?
Thank you!!
If you're going aftermarket with the intention of bigger tires than stock, I wouldn't touch the 32" tire & wheel group. You'll basically be paying money for wheels that almost certainly won't have enough backspacing to accommodate the bigger tires without having to add spacers. Would seem like a waste of money that could go to aftermarket wheel's you'd love even more (I should know, I wasted $700 on upgraded Sahara wheels only to change them out to aftermarket wheels at about 2300 miles--my biggest regret with the Jeep).
Did you add on the 3.73 gearing (if that's an option for the Sport S)???
It doesn't matter what they look like if you are going to replace them. The factory Sport wheels+tires have minimum resale demand so you are wasting your money.
Depends also on what tire size you plan on going to.
Upgraded wheels will be 32" high.
Standard will be 29".
When you change sizes speedo will be off.
It will also throw off your shift points if an auto.
A one inch change is not a big problem but if the change is greater it can be troublesome.
A programer can reset the problems though.
Also did you opt for the 3.73 gears?
If going to the 32"-33" range of tires it's money well spent at time of ordering.
If staying at 29" tires not required.
If going to bigger than 33" tires a further gear change may be wanted so don't pay twice.
Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Sport S includes the 17" silver alloy painted wheels and 255/75R17 Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's. Like so:
What's nice about this is that if you go to 33's, you don't absolutely NEED to reprogram, since most 33's are ~32.8", even less with a Jeep sitting on top of them. The computer is already pretty close from the factory (there are actually different factory settings depending on the wheels/tires included). You may be 1mph off at 60 (I am). Anything bigger, though, and all bets are off.
From what I understand, however, what's NOT nice about this is that the load rating on the SR-A's is slightly higher than the 33x12.5R15 Duratrac that everyone is so fond of ("The Combo") and Discount Tire Direct seems to be unwilling to sell them to Sport S owners.
Hey guys!! I decided to save money and go for the upgraded tires... Instead of going for the aftermarket right now anyway. Hopefully in the future! Thanks for all the feedback
The graphite (grey) are stock Rubi wheels, the black are the stock Rubi 10A/X/Hard Rock wheels. You can probably find someone selling a set of take offs.
